Well as the title suggests. I work in a Funeral Directors ask me anything.

Ever saw anything creepy?

@Gottokondo depends on what you define as creepy. Dead bodies are pretty standard in this line of business.

We once done a funeral for a woman who was a identified as a witch and I don't mean a practicing Wicca. There was smoke machines and spells being cast in the crematorium it was very surreal and quite creepy. Her friends and family arrived dresses as witches and wizards and one of the crematorium staff had to ask somebody to remain outside with their cat.

What do you need to get into that line of work. Weirdly it was something a careers adviser suggested for me at school. At the time I was but now I’d be genuinely interested to switch careers to that.

What’s the pay like?

There was a funeral director Ama a few weeks ago and a crematorium technician one which I believe was the catalyst for all the ama 's. Was very interesting! Think.was moved to classics

I work in the funeral industry and also found the previous posters thread fascinating!
I’m sure plenty will still have questions though OP :)

I started working here as an admin assistant to help with the prepaid funeral aspect which was just starting when I joined. From there I was trained in other aspects of the business.

Most funeral directors are family ran businesses which are passed on, most funeral directors recruit finance and administrative personnel so that would be the best way in.

The pay is decent slightly higher than normal admin, finance staff due to the nature and funeral directors can earn £££ depending on location
