I’m an Essex girl, ask me anything

As the title says, I’m from the glorious county of Essex and I’m jumping on the bandwagon.

So am I. Are you a stereotype? I'm not, I find it all a bit embarrassing 😬

What do you do for a living?

I really don’t think I’m a stereotype, even though as soon as I say I’m from Essex people always say ‘Essex girl eh?’ I don’t wear fake tan, am a bit plump so don’t go for revealing clothes, the only white heels I’ve owned were for my wedding day and they were kitten heels. I have been known to dance round my handbag in night clubs though in my youth, and I do love going to Lakeside. I don’t whine about it though. I prefer cava to prosecco. I’m not particularly dim. My accent is atrocious though, my own DC pick me up on it all the time.

What I find weirdest is the stereotypes people have about the county itself. They seem to think it’s an urban sprawl and are astonished to hear it has countryside and a coastline, and some of it is quite pretty.

I’ve actually had someone refuse to talk to me when they’ve found out I’m from Essex. Outside of Essex I’ve come across a lot of snobbery, even a jeering attitude, which is baffling. I just thought it might be informative given there does seem to be a certain misguided perception.

Outing I live fairly close to the two towns featured on TOWIE. Unfortunately some people do fit the stereotype but saying that you will find them in every county but with a different accent.

Essex is mainly rural as OP points out.

No, but I’ve been to other resort areas in Spain like Alicante and Majorca, but also Barcelona and Madrid. Would love to go to Marbella as I love Spain
