Mumsnet Badge Black friday air conditioners

The summer of 2026 is one we’ll probably remember for a long time as the summer we sweated a lot. Heatwave after heatwave meant the grass died, the hose pipes were banned (RIP paddling pool fun) and we all went crazy trying to get our hands on a portable air conditioning unit.

Sadly, lots of them are still out of stock, but the good news is there are some that are available, and many have had their prices slashed in time for Black Friday.

Some retailers are also offering pre-order deals, so you can snap up a bargain and have the unit in the spring before the weather hots up.

We’ve taken a look at the best air conditioner offers around at the moment, including some that are Mumsnet recommended, some that are loved by Mumsnetters, and some that are sure to become your bedroom BFFs.

Should you buy an air conditioning unit now or wait for Black Friday?

This is a tricky one to answer. Usually, I would always advise waiting for Black Friday deals to land so you know you’re absolutely getting the best price. But, air conditioning units are a different matter - stock levels have been so low for so long that it’s rare to actually find any available.

Some units are already reduced, and while they might drop in price further, there’s no guarantee they’ll still be available. So, if the price is right for you then I’d snap one up while it’s in stock.

As for the units that aren’t yet reduced, it really comes down to how willing you are to gamble. Some of the air conditioning units available are several hundred, or even over a thousand pounds. That’s a lot of cash to part with.

If it’s something you definitely want, can afford it even if it isn’t reduced and know you’ll use it for years, then I would say invest now and don’t hold off to see if prices drop.

And, if the price makes you wince a bit or you’re having to cancel next year’s holiday just to pay for air conditioning, I’d hold off to see if you can get a better deal.

It’s also worth noting that some appliances are available on pre-order and won’t actually be available until next year. It may be that you can set up a payment plan so that the amount isn’t so huge in one go.

When is Black Friday?

For 2026, Black Friday falls on Friday 27 November, with Cyber Monday taking place on Monday 30 November.

Although lots of retailers will have offers taking place over that four-day weekend, many will also have offers running throughout all of November and even into December too.
