The Thule Elm toddler car seat has a padded five-point harness and is made with premium fabrics
How comfortable is the Thule Elm toddler car seat?
Michaela’s toddler seemed very happy in the Thule Elm, even on longer drives. “She’s so comfortable in it. The padding is really cosy and the headrest supports her perfectly,” Michaela said. The seat comes with a soft polyester comfort liner and plenty of cushioning, creating a snug, secure feel. The headrest and harness adjust smoothly without fixed steps, so it’s easy to tweak the seat as your child grows.
The Thule Elm has three recline positions - upright, resting and sleep, which is great for naps - although Michaela found that, in her smaller VW Polo, she couldn’t fully use the deepest recline. Despite owning a compact car, Michaela found that the Thule Elm fit securely in the back seat - though it does require the front passenger seat to be pulled forward slightly. Families with larger cars or SUVs will find the fit more generous.
Even so, the seat’s breathable fabric and generous padding mean her daughter could sit or snooze comfortably on every journey. “This seat is just the right height for my 14-month-old, and she seems to really enjoy looking out the window,” she added.
Is the Thule Elm toddler car seat easy to clean?
Yes. The fabrics wipe-clean with a damp cloth and the covers are removable for a deeper clean. The materials are of noticeably high quality, resistant to scuffs, marks and everyday spills.
Does the Thule Elm toddler car seat offer good value for money?
At just over £500 for the Thule Elm car seat and the Thule Alfi base, it’s definitely a premium option, but Michaela felt it earns its price tag. “Yes, it is good value for money. It’s very robust and sturdy.” What you’re really paying for here is the peace of mind that comes from proven safety performance and Thule’s typically solid engineering.
Undoubtedly, the Thule Elm feels well engineered, placing it in the same league as other high-end toddler seats like the Maxi-Cosi Pearl 360 Pro and the Cybex Anoris T2. And because the Thule Alfi base can be reused with future Thule seats, it’s a smart long-term investment.
