Although car seat safety experts agree that extended rear-facing car seats are the safest option for children from birth up to age seven, many parents still opt for forward-facing seats as early as 15 months. This highlights the need for a safer forward-facing alternative- enter the Cybex Anoris T2 i-Size.

Building on the original Cybex Anoris T, the T2 is the first car seat to incorporate an integrated full-body airbag within the impact shield, which sits across your child’s body. It also complies with the stringent R129 safety regulations, offering enhanced protection in frontal collisions.

According to Cybex’s internal tests, conducted using 2021 ADAC crash test criteria, this forward-facing seat provides 50% more safety in frontal crashes compared to a forward-facing harness child seat. Additionally, the Anoris T2 features advanced mesh fabric that is six times more breathable than standard materials, helping to keep your child cool on hot days, and includes a retractable sun canopy for added shade.

It’s pretty clear that Cybex takes car seat safety seriously. But what about the Anoris T2’s overall design, installation, ease of use and comfort? Our parent-tester Kelsey tried it out for two months.

Final verdict: “After using the Cybex Anoris T2 for a few months, my overall impression is that it’s ergonomically and professionally made with an array of safety and comfort features. I also like that it’s easy to operate and comfortable for my son.

However, a slight drawback is the car seat is fixed in place and doesn’t have a swivel/spin function, which has made it trickier for my husband and I to manoeuvre a very active toddler into the car whilst bending over a car seat, especially whilst I’m pregnant with our second.

Nonetheless, I highly recommend the Anoris T2. Besides the safety features, the biggest benefit is that the impact shield ensures your child stays put and is secured in the seat, whereas several of my friends have shared that their toddlers are able to escape their car seats. This one is also comfortable, easy to use, high quality and durable.”

How we tested the Anoris T2 i-Size car seat

  • Two months of daily use

  • Tested with a 20-month-old toddler

Over two months, Kelsey put the Anoris T2 car seat through its paces in a variety of everyday situations. She used it as her go-to seat for daily nursery drop-offs, visiting friends and family, and on both short and long trips.

The plan was to keep the car seat permanently installed in her car, so she didn't have to deal with moving it between vehicles or using it for travel like flights. This way, Kelsey could really focus on how well the seat held up, how easy it was to use, and how comfortable it was for her son during regular daily use.

During testing, the car seat was scored on eight key criteria including: performance, quality and durability, ease of use, value for money, safety and stability, ease of installation, comfort and adjustability.

Cybex Anoris T2 i-Size: how easy is it to install?

The Anoris T2 is one of the simplest and most intuitive car seats that Kelsey’s ever used. “We can see that Cybex thought of every aspect to make parents’ lives easier as well as to ensure that the car seat gets installed safely,” she says.

“The Anoris T2 took around 15 minutes to install from the moment we unpacked it to getting it securely in the car. The light-up installation guide is a game changer, removing any guesswork. It lights up green when everything is properly secured, and red if something isn't right, triggering a small alarm until the issue is fixed,” she says.

Kelsey followed these steps to install the Anoris T2 in her car:

  • Extend the load leg until it locks, but don’t extend it downwards just yet.

  • Insert the ISOFIX connectors into the anchorage points.

  • Push the car seat until it’s fully aligned with the vehicle’s seat.

  • Extend the load leg downwards to the floor of the car.

  • Follow the light guides through each step to ensure correct installation.

  • Check for all green lights, which indicate that everything is installed correctly.

  • Adjust the headrest and safety belt around her son according to his body proportions, ensuring a snug, safe fit.

Cybex Anoris T2 i-Size: how does it look?

The Anoris T2 car seat has a sleek, modern design with smooth curves and comfortable padding. “We chose a neutral dark grey, which not only looks great but also hides the mess from our toddler's sometimes sticky fingers!

It’s easy to clean and has a high-quality feel. The design is seamless and straightforward, without any unnecessary frills—just simple and functional, exactly how we like it. Plus, the breathable mesh fabric, well-padded seat and large sun canopy means that my son is comfortable and enjoys a nap just about every time we head out,” says Kelsey.

Although the impact shield is a little bulky and works differently than a five-point harness, it’s simple to secure across your child’s body with just one simple click (plus, it’s adjustable) and Kelsey’s son got used to it quickly.

The Anoris T2 is available in a range of colours including Sepia Black, Mirage Grey, Platinum White, Peach Pink, Cozy Beige and Nautical Blue.

Is the Cybex Anoris T2 i-Size safe?

Absolutely. In fact, safety is a top priority for Cybex, and the Anoris T2 i-Size excels in this aspect. As an industry first, it is the only forward-facing car seat on the market with integrated airbag technology. According to Cybex's internal tests using 2021 ADAC crash test criteria, the Anoris T2 offers 50% more safety in frontal crashes compared to standard forward-facing harness seats.

In addition to meeting the strictest R129 safety criteria, such as advanced Linear Side-impact Protection and improved head and neck support, the full-body airbag is integrated into the impact shield, providing a secure yet comfortable fit.

The forward-facing design of the Anoris T2 also offers ample legroom and the chance to make direct eye contact with your child, while the padded seat has been upgraded from the original Anoris T with advanced mesh fabric designed to be six times more breathable than standard materials, helping to regulate your child’s body temperature even in warmer weather. As Kelsey mentioned, her son sweated far less in this car seat, versus others they’ve used.

During testing, Kelsey was also a fan of the impact shield. “Something I really liked was not having to fuss with a lot of straps and harnesses to get our son in and out of the car, thanks to the impact shield (despite how bulky it appeared on him). It made it easy to strap him in, plus we found the button to adjust the fit to be pretty intuitive,” she explains.

However, she noted the load leg requires careful adjustment to stay stable on the car floor, as it may shift and trigger an alarm when the seat is empty—a useful safety feature, though slightly disconcerting when not needed.

What age is the Cybex Anoris T2 i-Size suitable for and is it easy to adjust?

The Cybex Anoris T2 i-Size is designed for children aged 15 months to around seven years, or those between 76-105 cm in height and up to 21 kg in weight.

Adjusting the seat is simple: you can raise the headrest by up to 2 cm by pulling the white handle located just behind it. Additionally, the impact shield can be widened to create more space, ensuring a comfortable fit as your child grows.

What's the Cybex Anoris T2 i-Size like to use day-to-day?

Once installed, using the Anoris T2 daily is a breeze. Kelsey found it very simple and easy to secure her son with the impact shield. However, she noted that without a swivel feature (like the Cybex Sirona GI i-Size has, for instance) you have to lean over the car seat to strap your child in, which can be tricky, especially if you’re pregnant or if your child is tall.

She adds, "My husband and I had to be very careful not to accidentally knock our son’s head on the roof of the car when getting him in and out of the seat." However, she believes this won’t be a problem as he gets older and can hop in the car seat himself.

Although Kelsey left the Anoris T2 in the car during testing, she noted that removing it was straightforward—just unfasten it from the ISOFIX base and retract the load leg. While the Anoris T2 is heavier at 12kg compared to some other car seats like the Axkid ONE 2 at 10kg, Kelsey felt this was reasonable due to its extra safety features and ability to accommodate children up to seven years old.

Kelsey also liked that the ISOFIX arms move independently of each other, making it easy to click in one side at a time, and she appreciated the light-up installation guide that shows when the seat is correctly installed. Adjusting the impact shield for comfort took seconds.

One thing to remember is that the light-up guide uses batteries that need replacing roughly every two years, depending on usage. Kelsey noted, "The battery icon will light up red when the batteries are running low," and Cybex recommends removing the batteries if you’re storing the seat for a long time.

How comfortable is the Cybex Anoris T2 i-Size?

Even though the impact shield of the Anoris T2 has a snug fit, Kelsey found it to be very comfortable for her son. However, she noted that, since her son is only 20 months old, the impact shield sits a little high on his chest. “Although his arms and shoulders can rest above it, he does look quite small in the seat unless he’s sitting fully back and upright. Despite this, he’s perfectly content in the seat.”

Kelsey also appreciates that the forward-facing position offers plenty of room for her son’s legs to hang freely. She finds the three recline positions very easy to adjust with a simple press of a button and a bit of manoeuvring. “The recline positions seem to work well when adjusting the seat for long travel or sleep,” she says.

The sun canopy covers her son’s head and shoulders well, providing good shade and protection. But she notes, “My son personally doesn’t enjoy having the sun canopy pulled down and tends to push it back up,” which undermines its usefulness. (For full sun protection, we suggest investing in a good car sunshade for your child that fits on the window).

Regarding the seat’s comfort, Kelsey says that the Anoris T2 has super soft, breathable fabric with lots of ventilation holes and plenty of padding. “Our son hasn’t come out sweating like he did with his old car seat,” she observes, indicating he’s more comfortable and seems happier whilst in the Anoris T2.

Kelsey also prefers the single impact shield to multiple straps, finding it more comfortable and easier to manage. “However, it’s a little bulky for his age and size right now,” she mentions, “but I’m sure this will change as he’s growing fast.”

Cybex Anoris T2 cup holder

Does the car seat come with any extras?

The Anoris T2 doesn’t come with any extras, other than the ISOFIX base but you can buy the Cybex cup holder separately, and it easily attaches to the side of your child's car seat to keep drinks secure and within reach.

Is the Cybex Anoris T2 i-Size easy to clean?

Yes. Kelsey gave the Anoris T2 a 5/5 rating for ease of cleaning. “The covers on the Anoris T2 are simple to take on and off and I like that they’re machine washable. Whilst the covers are being washed, I vacuum the seat and wipe the surfaces with a damp cloth and mild detergent. It works really well!”

Is the Cybex Anoris T2 i-Size good value for money?

“Absolutely,” says Kelsey. “Despite its high expense, I feel the innovation, quality, longevity and durability of the Anoris T2 is well worth the money. Just knowing that my son is safer in a forward-facing position on car journeys is priceless.”
