Pro Breeze Garment Steamer

Our verdict

Small but powerful, I was pretty impressed by this cute little clothes steamer. It's a great size to pop in your suitcase for a trip away. If you want to look your best but won't have access to an iron or ironing board at your destination, it's a real life-saver.

The steamer made light work of a pair of thick cotton trousers, making it a perfect gadget to have on hand for when clothes come out of the tumble dryer a little too creased and need a once-over in a hurry.

The only drawback of the Pro Breeze Garment Steamer is quite a big one - it can only be used upright. While this can be worked around for cleaning clothing on hangers, or even curtains, if you try to clean your sofa with it, or even hold it at an angle to steam a sleeve, you're going to spill boiling water everywhere.

How easy is the Pro Breeze Garment Steamer to set up?

With a simple twist on and off mechanism and just one switch to control the steamer, it was very straightforward to set up and start using. The opening for the water tank is much wider than other I've tested - it's almost like a tiny kettle - which is particularly good news for those of us in hard water areas, as it can easily be filled up from a water filter jug rather than the tap.

Once it's topped up with water and the top is securely back on, plug the mini clothes steamer in and flick the switch.

There's no indicator light for preheating vs ready to use, so you have to use your common sense and watch out for steam. With no trigger, the steam comes out continuously in a powerful stream. The flex is nice and long and the steamer is very light, so it's much more comfortable to use than other, more substantial clothes steamers we've tested.

Pro Breeze Garment Steamer

What's the Pro Breeze Garment Steamer like to use day-to-day?

While its petite stature is a key part of the Pro Breeze Garment Steamer's appeal, it does mean that the water tank is on the small side too. This means it needs filling up after every 2-3 garments.

It produces an impressive amount of steam, so it's really effective and will certainly help you whizz through your laundry pile - perfect for those who loathe ironing, like me.

The small water tank could get annoying and does add to the time you'll be spending, so if you're looking for a steamer to help you tackle large volumes of laundry regularly, it's best to opt for something with a more generous water tank, like the Swan ProSteam.

The fact that hot water pours out of it when held at an angle means it's quite limited in its uses, and while it does do the job when held upright, it's just too big of a drawback.

Does the Pro Breeze Garment Steamer offer good value for money?

At £25, the Pro Breeze Garment Steamer is at the budget end of the market, with larger budget options retailing around £35. I tested it alongside clothes steamers from all price points, and it can really hold its own against more robust machines with larger water tanks and more controls.

However, the fact that boiling water leaks from it if it's held at an angle limits its usefulness quite severely, so you're better off spending your money on a different, safer, clothes steamer.
