Ororo River Ridge 3-in-1 Heated Jacket: our verdict
At Mumsnet, we've tested some of the best heated gilets on the market, and Ororo gilets are the most highly-recommended. This jacket uses the same carbon fibre heating elements to warm your torso at home or out and about.
I liked the jacket's versatility - the inner fleece, which contains the heating elements, can be unzipped from the waterproof outer jacket, meaning it can be worn three ways - as a heated, waterproof jacket, a casual heated long-sleeve or as a simple raincoat without heating.
The fleece is great for slinging on at home, to keep me cosy at my WFH desk, and having a waterproof, hooded jacket with extra heating is a great way to achieve maximum warmth with minimum bulk.
I found the placement of the heat control button inside the fleece jacket a little awkward to access, however it does mean that you can operate it without unzipping the jacket and letting the cold in. The button vibrates to let you know which heat setting it's on, but I must admit I found a visible button more user-friendly.
With heating elements on the front and back of the torso, it provides the same zones of warmth as a heated gilet, and I would have liked some heat in the arms and collar, especially given the price.
The inner fleece zips snugly into the waterproof jacket, creating a perfectly insulated, snugly atmosphere. While a heated gilet is a more cost-effective solution, this all-in-one jacket will keep you warm and dry, whatever the weather.
