Our verdict

The Nuna Triv Next has plenty to offer, especially for busy parents looking for a stroller that can handle everything from muddy park adventures to quick trips to the shops. After weeks of testing the Nuna Triv Next with her 4-month-old daughter, our parent-tester Alice was impressed by its beautiful design, versatility, and ease of use.

This stroller is part of the exclusive Fantasy Land Collection—a collaboration between Nuna and Liberty London, featuring hand-drawn illustration prints. Alice shared: “The stroller is very aesthetically pleasing, and I liked that it is relatively compact yet sturdy enough to handle off-path adventures in the park. We now use it as our main stroller.”

One of the stand-out features of the Nuna Triv Next is its large rear and swivel front wheels that cope with most terrains very well. Plus, the all-season, spring suspension seat makes it a comfortable, smooth ride for your baby. The seat easily switches between parent- and world-facing modes, and unlike many lightweight strollers with limited recline options, it fully reclines for use from the newborn stage. For added convenience, you can pair it with the Nuna LYTL carrycot (sold separately) or opt for the Triv Next bundle, which includes the stroller, car seat and carrycot. It’s also travel system compatible, working seamlessly with all Nuna PIPA series infant car seats.

It also has an adjustable calf rest and canopy and the cushioned, extendable handlebar is a nice touch for parents both tall and short. Some extra padding around the head on the seat and a bigger basket would make the stroller even better, but otherwise the features of this stroller make it good value for money.

How we tested the Nuna Triv Next stroller

  • Used daily as the family’s primary stroller for three weeks

  • Used for walks (both on and off road), shopping trips and many park visits

  • Taken on public transport including trains and buses

  • Tested with a newborn

During testing, Alice scored the stroller on a number of different factors including: safety, stability, ease of use, comfort, ease of cleaning and value for money.

“We used the Nuna Triv Next with our first baby, our four-month-old daughter. We tested it for about three weeks and used it daily for walks into town, getting on and off the overground and the bus and used in many parks, including off the path in Hampstead Heath,” says Alice.

Alice found the stroller comfortable to push, and the seat was cosy enough for her baby to nap in. It felt safe and sturdy yet lightweight and compact, with an easy folding mechanism. The only area where the stroller falls short, in Alice's opinion, is the storage basket—which doesn't hold more than a few basic items like a snack and small changing bag, making it less ideal for a food shop.

How easy is the Nuna Triv Next stroller to assemble?

Out of the box, Alice found the Triv Next very easy to put together without any assistance or extra tools needed. Overall it took around 15 minutes and most of it could be done without using the instructions.

Alice noted: “I mostly did it on my own and only needed a bit of help from the manual when posting the seat cushion through the straps. The instructions were very clear and easy to use too.”

Nuna Triv Next stroller: how does it look?

This lightweight stroller is robust, sturdy, and designed to handle uneven terrain while still looking great. It’s available in seven neutral but stylish color schemes, including Biscotti, Caviar-Chocolate, Cedar, Granite, Pine, Rainbow, and Rose. However, Alice tested the Triv Next from the Fantasy Land Collection (exclusive to John Lewis), which features intricate floral prints. The luxe leatherette finishes on the handlebar and bumper bar, paired with a matte black frame, further enhance the stroller’s sleek and elegant design.

Many features remain the same as its predecessor, the Nuna Triv, including the ventilated all-season seat, removable insert, and UPF 50+ extendable canopy. New additions include an adjustable footrest and a zip-off canopy section, which provides extra room for tall toddlers and simplifies cleaning.

The most significant upgrade to the Triv Next is its tyres and frame. It now features large rear tyres designed to handle various terrains, which makes the frame slightly wider. At 8.72kg, it’s a bit heftier than other lightweight strollers on our list, such as the Stokke YOYO 3 and the Ickle Bubba Aries Auto-Fold Stroller, which weighs just 6.1kg. However, it still qualifies as a lightweight stroller at under 9kg and folds down compactly for easy storage.

Alice loved the overall design of the stroller but was initially unsure about the light colour and bold floral prints. She shared: “At first, I wasn’t sure about the colour of the buggy and might have preferred it to be cream. But after using it for some time, the floral prints grew on me and I received a lot of positive comments from people. I really like how upright the seat sits on the frame and how my daughter was quite high off the ground, allowing her to see more on walks. The fabric is lovely, easy to clean, and I imagine it would be equally comfortable in both summer and winter.”

Nuna Triv Next stroller: is it safe and sturdy?

Despite the compact design of the Triv Next, Alice had no doubts about its safety. “This stroller feels incredibly stable and secure. I performed the topple test, and it remained firm with no wobbling. The seat is not only solid but also comfortable, even on uneven ground, thanks to its excellent suspension,” says Alice.

The seat is fully reclinable and can be used from birth, although Nuna recommends using the Triv Next with the Nuna LYTL carrycot and PIPA series infant car seat for newborns until around six months old, after which you can transition to the stroller seat.

A standout feature of the upgraded model is its magnetic buckle on the five-point harness, which automatically locks into place. Alice found it securely held her smaller daughter. The stroller also includes a bumper bar for added safety. “My daughter didn’t manage to slip her arms out of the straps, and I found it very easy to get her into the stroller, even when I was in a rush. The footbrake feels very secure too and didn’t cause the stroller to roll down any hills,” Alice says.

The stroller’s all-wheel suspension and large rear tyres provide a smooth ride even on bumpier ground and the handlebar can be extended to five different heights. “It was very comfortable to push, the handle is cushioned and soft and myself and my partner were able to push it without bending or stooping,” says Alice.

How comfortable is the Nuna Triv Next stroller?

Arguably one of the most important factors of the Triv Next is how comfortable it is, as you want your child to be happy napping and resting in there. This model has plenty of features to ensure a comfortable ride in all seasons.

The seat has a four-position recline, including a full recline for newborns. It can be used in both world or parent-facing and has adjustable calf support for growing babies. The seat will keep your baby cosy in the winter months, with a lightweight, removable insert made from merino wool and then can be converted to mesh for the summer months. The seat is ventilated too to ensure good airflow.

The UPF 50+ canopy is water-resistant and extendable to give good protection from the sun, with a peekaboo window so you can check on your sleeping baby. There’s also a zip-off compartment.

“My daughter did enjoy the stroller and seemed to find it very comfortable, even having short naps in there. It was easy to adjust and she was able to recline to an almost flat position,” says Alice. “ However, I think it could be improved with some extra cushioning around the head to make nap time more comfortable.”

What is the Nuna Triv Next stroller like to use day-to-day?

One of the real selling points of the Triv Next is how easy it fits into daily life. The large rear wheels and all-wheel suspension makes it a smooth ride on most terrains, even though it doesn't feature all the bells and whistles of an all-terrain pram. During testing, the stroller fared just as well on walks to the shops as it did on trips to the park.

“I really liked how sturdy it was and that the wheels make it easy to go over grass and uneven ground. The buggy was easy to move and very rarely got caught on any uneven ground, it only really got stuck on some tree roots, but it was then easy to shove it over. Also because it is so lightweight, longer walks were easy,” says Alice.

The extendable, cushioned handlebar makes it comfortable to push for even taller parents. Alice noted: “One of its biggest strengths is that it is very easy to steer and can even be done one-handed.”

The only small complaint Alice had was about the one-touch brake pedal. “Very occasionally the pedal break would jam and took a bit of a push to get going, but mostly it worked perfectly and was very easy to click on and off,” she says.

For busy days out, the quick, simple folding mechanism of the Triv Next makes getting on and off public transport or in and out of the car a breeze. The storage basket could be bigger though. “Storage is okay, fits what you would need for a day like a changing bag, but doesn’t have extra space for a food shop for example,” says Alice.

Is the Nuna Triv Next stroller easy to use on public transport?

“Whilst it is sturdy, the Triv Next benefits from not being too wide and is therefore easy to get into shops and on and off public transport,’ says Alice, who used the stroller on buses and trains during testing.

Nuna Triv Next stroller: how easy is it to fold?

The quick folding mechanism of this stroller can be done easily and with one hand. You simply close the canopy, lift the lever located at the back of the seat and fold the seat down.

Then pull on the carry strap which is located above the storage basket to fold the whole pram down. Alice noted: “It is very easy to fold and unfold and has a lock so it's a breeze to carry up and down the stairs.”

Additionally, the Triv Next is a good option for parents with smaller cars as it doesn’t take up too much space when folded up and didn’t have any problems fitting into a car boot during testing.

Nuna Triv Next accessories

Nuna Triv Next stroller: Does it come with accessories?

Apart from the rain cover and a folding ring adapter for connecting the Pipa Urbn infant car seat (or any infant car seat from the Nuna series), the Triv Next doesn’t come with any other accessories.

However, you can purchase items including the LYTL carrycot, cup holder and winter stroller set (footmuff and gloves) for keeping items like your phone and purse close on the handlebar.

Is the Nuna Triv Next stroller easy to clean?

Yes! You can clean the frame, plastic parts and fabric with a damp cloth, but don’t use abrasives or bleach. The wheels can be cleaned with water to remove dirt.

“The Triv Next is very easy to clean. We got some baby vomit on it which came off with a wipe and when it got muddy on the bottom, it was easy to dust off,” says Alice.

Do you think the Nuna Triv Next stroller is good value for money?

While £950 may seem like a lot for a travel system bundle, we think the Nuna Triv Next Liberty Fantasy Land Collection bundle is good value for money as it comes with the Triv Next pushchair, LYTL carrycot and Pipa Urbn car seat. If, however, you’re just after the stroller - it retails for around £600 and is available in the other colours mentioned, but not the Fantasy Land design.

When it comes to the stroller, the seat is comfortable, versatile and suitable for use from birth. We like that it’s also travel system compatible, although you do need to buy the carrycot or car seat separately which would rack up more costs.

It looks stylish in neutral tones, with nice leatherette detail and is easy to clean, so it should stay looking nice for a long time. Most of all, Alice was impressed with the wheels, suspension and adjustable handlebar which made this a smooth ride for both her baby and herself, and can even be done one-handed.
