I tested out the Maxi-Cosi Mica 360 Pro car seat and it excels in more ways than one

With a ‘good’ ADAC safety rating and AGR back-friendly approval (for parents and caregivers), the Maxi-Cosi Mica 360 Pro promises safety and comfort for toddlers up to age four. But does its simple ‘slide, spin, and go’ claim hold up for parents? Here’s my verdict after three months of testing.

Our verdict

The Maxi-Cosi Mica 360 Pro builds on the success of the original Mica advanced features like SlideTech™ technology (a pull and slide function so that allows parents and caregivers to pull the car seat closer when securing a child in the seat), enhanced recline options, and robust safety credentials, making it a standout baby car seat and toddler car seat for families. Because it works for both babies and toddlers up to age four, it’s great value for money—you won’t need to buy a separate car seat as your little one grows.

Our family loved the convenience of the 360 spin and sliding function, especially my elderly parents, as it makes strapping in a wriggly child so much easier and kinder on your back. Its impressive safety features, including compliance with R129 standards, a good ADAC rating, and extended rear-facing capability, add peace of mind even for parents with smaller cars.

Another standout feature is how durable and comfortable the seat feels, with plush inserts that provide excellent support for newborns and a high position that both babies and toddlers enjoy for a great view. Adjustable, easy-to-clean straps add to its practicality.

Throughout testing, the only downside I found is that the Mica 360 Pro is slightly heavier than other car seats, such as the Maxi Cosi Pearl Pro2 i-Size, which weighs just 7.5kg without the base. At 14.9kg with an integrated base, the Mica 360 Pro is less ideal for moving between cars but excels as a fixed car seat, offering premium safety and convenience for growing families.

How we tested the Maxi-Cosi Mica 360 Pro car seat

  • Tested with a newborn for three months

  • Used daily for multiple short trips and two long trips

  • Tested in a VW Golf and Renault Captur

I tested theMica 360 Pro car seat daily for three months with my newborn son, using it for both short trips around town and longer journeys. While it’s a sturdy and reliable car seat, moving it between two cars proved a bit tricky due to its weight.

Although I primarily tested it as a baby car seat, the Mica 360 Pro is clearly designed to grow with your child, making it ideal for toddlers too, up to the age of four. Its thoughtful features, like five recline options and nine headrest positions, show how well it adapts to different stages of your child’s growth.

Once testing was complete, I scored the Mica 360 Pro on key criteria: installation, safety, stability, ease of use, comfort, design, ease of cleaning and value for money.

Maxi-Cosi Mica 360 Pro car seat: what’s in the box?

  • The main car seat with its integrated ISOFIX base

  • Newborn Inlay (Plush, padded inserts)

How easy is the Maxi-Cosi Mica 360 Pro car seat to install?

Pretty straightforward! It took my partner just five minutes to install the seat in our VW Golf. The trickiest part was finding the ISOFIX points in the car, but once located, the car seat clips in easily, and the green indicator lets you know it’s properly secured.

One important thing to note is that this car seat can’t be installed using a three-point seatbelt, so you’ll need to ensure your car has ISOFIX points before purchasing.

Installing it in my parents’ Renault Captur took me a little longer, but after watching a useful installation video, I got the hang of it. I really appreciated the green indicators that confirm when everything is securely in place. For someone who’s not exactly DIY-savvy (I avoid assembling Ikea furniture at all costs), this feature was a huge relief and made the process much less stressful.

Maxi-Cosi Mica 360 Pro car seat: how does it look?

Despite its sturdy build, the Mica 360 Pro is one of the sleekest toddler car seats I’ve come across. After using it for three months, I can confidently say it’s incredibly well-made and solid, which is reassuring when traveling with a little one.

I tested the authentic grey colour, which may not be flashy, but it blends nicely with the rest of the car seats. The neutral tones are a smart choice since they don’t scream “childish” and will easily last through the years without showing stains too much.

The Mica 360 Pro comes in five dark, subtle colours, making it a practical option for parents looking for longevity in both style and function. The material is soft and breathable, and even on the few hot days we had, our little tester seemed very comfortable thanks to the mesh fabric and ventilated panels behind the seat cover.

The harness straps are also wide enough to provide a secure fit without being too tight, and the entire seat operates smoothly on the ISOFIX base, rotating and gliding with ease when needed.

Maxi Cosi Mica 360 Pro rear facing and light indicator

Is the Maxi-Cosi Mica 360 Pro car seat safe?

Yes! This car seat boasts a good rating from ADAC and meets all i-Size (R129/03) car seat regulations in the UK, plus it’s made with patented AirProtect® safety cushions in the headrest which Maxi-Cosi claim reduces the risk of head injury by up to 20%.

Whilst we didn’t crash test this car seat it’s reassuring to know that this additional protection is in place, and the head rest seemed very cosy to our son who found the seat very comfortable to sit in even on longer journeys.

In addition to the protective headrest, the Mica 360 Pro offers G-CELL protection - an integrated safety technology that absorbs impact and reduces the force of side collisions to protect children.

I think the best safety feature that this car seat has is the absolute reassurance that the seat is installed properly with the green light indicators. As this is an extended rear-facing seat, it’s definitely worth investing in a back seat mirror so you can keep an eye on them from the front seat. We bought one from John Lewis which seems to do the job well, but Maxi-Cosi also make one with a wide-angled view.

What age is the Maxi-Cosi Mica 360 Pro car seat suitable for and is it easy to adjust?

This car seat is suitable for use from birth (with the newborn inlay) up to the age of four or around 18kg. At first, I thought that the Mica 360 Pro looked a little large for our son, but the newborn inlay made him feel snug and secure. The five-point harness is easy to adjust and the reclinable seat means he was very comfortable even from a few weeks old.

The Mica 360 Pro also has nine adjustable headrest positions that can be adjusted easily with one hand, ensuring a comfortable fit as your child grows.

What's the Maxi-Cosi Mica 360 Pro car seat like to use day-to-day?

We absolutely loved the 360 spin functionality of this car seat—it made getting my son in and out of the car so much easier. The ability to pull the seat forward is a game-changer, especially for my older parents, as it eliminates the need to lean awkwardly into the car to settle him.

This combination of 360 rotation and the pull-out function makes strapping in even the wriggliest of children quick and hassle-free. The seat sits at a nice height, giving my son a great view out of the window, which he really seemed to enjoy. At the same time, it’s not so high that it blocks the driver’s view of the rear window—a win-win for everyone.

One downside is that the base and seat are attached, making the whole setup quite heavy. While it’s perfect as a fixed car seat, it’s not the easiest to move between vehicles. During our testing, I struggled to carry it by myself when swapping between two cars.

The recline function is another standout feature. With five positions to choose from, adjusting it is incredibly simple—you just pull the grey handle and move it to your desired setting, all with one hand. It’s one of my favourite things about the seat and adds to its overall ease of use.

Maxi Cosi Mica 360 Pro Harness

How comfortable is the Maxi-Cosi Mica 360 Pro car seat?

In a word: very! My son seemed incredibly comfortable in the seat, which is always a top priority for any parent. The Mica 360 Pro features a five-point harness that’s easy to adjust and seems sturdier than the standard three-point harness.

By pressing a button on the base, you can loosen the straps, and once the straps are plugged into the harness, simply pull the cord to tighten them. We found this system much more intuitive than the Cosatto Acorn car seat, as the button to loosen the straps was easier to locate.

This car seat also offers five recline positions and an adjustable headrest with nine settings, providing great flexibility as your child grows. While it’s not fully lie-flat, the recline options ensure your little one stays comfortable for naps on the go.

During testing, we drove 700 miles over two long road trips in just 10 days. My son slept through most of the journey without any issues, which speaks volumes about the design and comfort of this car seat.

Another highlight is the Climaflow panels, which do an excellent job of creating airflow and maximising circulation around the seat, keeping your child cool and comfortable whether the newborn inlay is in place or not. Even without the inlay, the seat offers ample padding, ensuring it's just as comfortable for older babies and toddlers as it is for newborns.

Does the Maxi-Cosi Mica 360 Pro car seat come with any extras?

The Mica 360 Pro doesn’t come with a cup holder or any extras - we bought a back seat car mirror to use with the seat.

Parents can also purchase organic cotton covers for all Maxi-Cosi toddler car seats and a back seat protector.

Is the Maxi-Cosi Mica 360 Pro car seat easy to clean?

Yes, the good news is that the car seat covers are removable and can be washed or spot cleaned. We had a serious pooey nappy leak (more like a puddle) on one of our test rides, and I was pleased to find I could fully clean the seat and straps with warm water and soap!

While removing the covers can be a bit tricky to figure out, it’s a feature you’ll appreciate over four years of use, as the seat is bound to need a wash more than once.

Is the Maxi-Cosi Mica 360 Pro car seat good value for money?

The Mica 360 Pro car seat, priced around £300, offers great value for money. It’s designed to last from birth to four years, so you won’t need to buy multiple car seats as your child grows. The sturdy materials and high-quality build mean it’s made to last, giving you peace of mind.

When compared to other car seats like the Cybex Sirona T i-Size (£279.95) or the Silver Cross Motion All Size 360 (£239.95), the Mica 360 Pro stands out with its unique SlideTech™ technology and AGR certification, which is perfect for making things easier on your back, especially for parents or grandparents.

Considering its durability, extended use, and extra features, the Mica 360 Pro is definitely a solid investment for families looking for a reliable and comfortable car seat.

For parents who are looking to minimise landfill, a car seat that goes the long haul is definitely a great idea.
