Globber Junior Foldable Lights Ecologic Scooter review: stable, sustainable and built to last

The Globber Junior Foldable Lights Ecologic Scooter combines eco-friendly materials, battery-free light-up wheels and a confidence-building three-wheel design. I've been testing it with my two sons since September 2024 to find out whether it's worth the investment for families with toddlers and preschoolers.

Our verdict

I’ve had the Globber Junior Foldable Lights Ecologic Scooter since September 2024 and it has been used regularly by both of my boys.

Overall, I think it's an excellent first scooter: stable, easy to use, confidence-building and impressively durable. The standout features are the steering lock, foldable design, adjustable handlebar and battery-free light-up wheels, which strike a great balance between practicality and fun.

I particularly like the eco-conscious design, which incorporates recycled materials without compromising on durability.

It's easy to see why the scooter has received industry recognition, including a Junior Design Award - it feels thoughtfully designed around the needs of younger riders. After well over a year of regular use, it still feels solid and reliable, making it a scooter I'd happily recommend to families with young children.

The Globber Ecologic Scooter was tested on a variety of surfaces by my two children

How we tested the Globber Ecologic Scooter

I've been testing the Globber Ecologic Scooter since September 2024 with my two sons, using it on pavements, in the garden, at local parks, on nursery and school runs, and for everyday family outings.

It has been used regularly by my two boys (mainly my eldest as he was the first to ride it), including frequent outdoor use in typical British weather. It’s been particularly useful for short rides, trips to the park, building scooting confidence and everyday practice.

I also tested the Banwood Eco Scooter alongside the Globber Ecologic during this period, which helped me compare how each performed in day-to-day family life.

What’s in the box?

Our scooter arrived with the main deck, adjustable T-bar handlebar and front light-up wheel assembly already attached. I was pleased to find there was very little packaging and no unnecessary extras - just an instruction booklet.

Good grip and an anti-slip deck make the Globber Ecologic suitable for younger riders

How does it look?

At first glance, I thought the scooter looked clean, modern and very child-friendly. Its low, wide deck makes it reassuringly stable without looking bulky, while the frame feels surprisingly streamlined for a three-wheel scooter.

Chunky wheels add to that sturdy feel, while the front LED lights bring a fun element without looking overly flashy. Comfortable-looking handlebars and colourways including Berry, Pistachio, Blueberry and Coconut help it stand out from more basic kids' scooters. We tested the Blueberry version and I still think it looks smart after more than a year of regular use.

Compared with the Banwood Eco Scooter, which we've also tested, the Globber feels more feature-focused. The Banwood has the edge on looks with its minimalist design, but the Globber's steering lock, foldability and light-up wheels make it feel more practical for everyday family use.

How easy is the Globber Ecologic Scooter to assemble and adjust?

Very easy. It needed only minimal setup before first use - essentially getting the handlebar in place and adjusting it to the right height, which is simple and quick to do.

I found the setup process intuitive, completely tool-free and quick enough to complete in just a few minutes. The height adjustment system is straightforward too, making it quick to adapt as my children grow.

One feature I've particularly appreciated is the three-position T-bar, which adjusts to 54cm, 61cm and 68cm. It's designed for children aged two to six, with a recommended height of 85 to 110cm and a maximum user weight of 50kg.

I’d say it suits toddlers and preschoolers best, especially children learning to scoot or building confidence.

My boys had a lot of fun practising their scooting skills and building confidence on the Globber Ecologic

How safe and sturdy does it feel?

The Ecologic Scooter feels very safe and stable. For me, the three-wheel design, low deck and steering lock are what make it so reassuring for younger riders. Good grip underfoot and secure-feeling wheels helped my boys feel confident as they practised, whether in parks, playgrounds or on local pavements.

Globber says the scooter is made using 60% recycled and plant-based materials, including recycled plastic and wheat-straw components. I like that the eco-friendly materials don't feel like a compromise in any way - it remains every bit as sturdy as more traditional kids' scooters we've used.

My boys quickly learnt how to use the extra-long rear brake, and I found it was easy for little feet to locate when they needed to stop.

What’s the Globber Ecologic Scooter like to use day to day?

Day to day, the Ecologic is very easy for young children to use. Getting on and off feels easy thanks to the low deck, while the three-wheel setup gives younger children plenty of stability.

The steering lock is particularly helpful at the beginning - it fixes the front wheels so that they only move forwards and backwards. This allowed my children to focus on balance before learning to steer properly. Once unlocked, the lean-to-steer system is smooth and intuitive.

The scooter performs best on pavements, smooth paths and playground surfaces. It can cope with slightly uneven ground, but grass and rough gravel are harder work, as expected for this type of scooter.

The Globber Ecologic offers a very comfy ride

How comfortable is the Globber Ecologic Scooter to ride?

From watching both of my children use it regularly, I'd say comfort is one of the Globber Ecologic’s strengths. The TPR handlebar grips are a good size for small hands and my boys' riding position felt upright and natural.

My children were happy using the Globber for longer scooting sessions and didn't show any signs of discomfort. Compared with the Banwood Eco Scooter, which we tested at the same time, the Globber's deck feels slightly more confidence-inspiring for younger riders. My youngest tended to alternate between the two, but my eldest consistently preferred the Globber.

How easy is it to carry?

Yes. At around 2.53kg, the Globber Ecologic is light enough to carry when needed, especially compared with bulkier scooters. I’d happily put it in the car or take it on a day out. I really appreciated the foldable design, which makes the scooter far more practical for family outings when little legs tire and it's time to head home.

The scooter folds using a push-button system and can be put into trolley mode, which is handy for carrying, rolling or storing it. It folds compactly enough for a hallway, cupboard, car boot or under a buggy during days out.

Does the Globber Ecologic Scooter come with any accessories?

There aren’t really separate accessories included, but the built-in extras are useful: the LED light-up front wheels, the folding/trolley mode and steering lock.

For my children, the light-up wheels were easily the standout feature, and I appreciated not having to worry about replacing any batteries.

How easy is the Globber Ecologic Scooter to clean?

The Globber is easy to clean, with most mud and dirt wiping away easily after wet or muddy rides. The textured deck can collect a little grime over time, but it's nothing a quick clean can't fix.

Banwood Eco Scooter and Globber Ecologic Scooter

I tested the Globber Ecologic alongside the similarly eco-conscious Banwood Eco Scooter

Is the Globber Ecologic Scooter good value for money?

Yes. While it isn't the cheapest scooter on the market, the combination of quality and stability makes the Globber Ecologic feel like a worthwhile investment. It's also designed to grow with your child and, having stood up well to long-term use by my two children, I feel it's built to last.

Having tested both the Globber Ecologic and the Banwood Eco Scooter, I'd say they appeal to slightly different families. The Banwood wins on style and simplicity, while the Globber stands out for its practical features. The steering lock, foldable design, trolley mode and battery-free light-up wheels make it particularly well suited to everyday family life.

For me, that's what ultimately justifies the higher price compared with many entry-level scooters and I’d definitely recommend it, especially for younger children who need help building confidence before moving on to a more advanced scooter.
