Dreamland Pure Comfort Bamboo Electric Blanket: my verdict

Performance: 13/15

Quality and durability: 15/15

Ease of use: 13/15

Value for money: 12/15

Fit: 7/10

Heat settings: 10/10

Heat distribution: 8/10

Design: 8/10

Total: 86/100

If your other half seems to have a completely different microclimate to you, this electric blanket is a total godsend. Made from smooth, temperature-regulating bamboo fabric, the Dreamland Pure Comfort Bamboo Electric Blanket has dual controls so one side of the bed can be toasty warm while the other remains pleasantly Arctic.

The blanket fits to your mattress with elastic corner straps, which aren't the most secure option (the longer, under-the-mattress strap you'll find on the Silentnight Comfort Control holds a blanket much more firmly in place), as they can ping off if you shift around at night.

With six heat settings and 1-, 3- and 9-hour timers, it's easy to use either to pre-heat your bed or keep it at a steady temperature all night. What's more, there are controllers on both sides of the blanket, so you can set your side up just how you like it.

I loved that the smooth bamboo fabric didn't feel sweaty or itchy under the sheet. This also meant that when the electric blanket was switched off, it didn't interfere with the cooling properties of my Emma Thermosync mattress and cooling bedding.

Heat is distributed evenly throughout the blanket, although the heated wires don't quite reach right to the edges - so if you're tall, you might need to tuck your duvet in to feel the benefit on your feet.

At £130 for a double, rising to £150 for a super king size, this is one of the more expensive electric blankets on the market right now. However, its range of functions is reflected in the price - and if you and your partner don't agree on optimal bed temperature, it's worth spending that bit more to keep everyone happy and comfortable.

What's the Dreamland Pure Comfort Bamboo Electric Blanket like to use day-to-day?

The Dreamland Pure Comfort Bamboo Electric Blanket is easy to fit, with four elastic straps to keep it in place. These do tend to ping off if you shift around at night, though, so they might need to be re-secured every now and then.

With controls on each side, it's easy to adjust settings for your side of the bed. The controls are intuitive and simply laid out, with six heat settings and a 1-, 3- or 9-hour timer.

I like to use the one hour timer to pre-heat my side of the bed - it makes it deliciously cosy under the covers on a chilly evening. Then, as I tend to run hot at night, the blanket cools and I stay comfortable as I sleep.

The power cord plugs are well positioned and the blanket is slightly padded, so you can't feel any of the hard plastic parts of the blanket while you're in bed.

How do you clean the Dreamland Pure Comfort Bamboo Electric Blanket?

The electric blanket is machine washable on a delicate cycle. It dries pretty quickly - I washed it in the morning, slung it over my bannisters and it was dry and ready to use the next morning.

You can also spot-clean it, but make sure to unplug both power cords before getting it wet, and ensure it's completely dry before plugging them back in.

Does the Dreamland Pure Comfort Bamboo Electric Blanket offer good value for money?

At £130 for a double, and £150 for a super king, this is a premium electric blanket with a price to match. Made from high-quality, temperature-regulating fabrics, it's smooth and comfortable under your bedsheets.

The dual controls allow you to create different heat zones on either side of the bed, and the timer function gives you peace of mind. Compared to cheaper electric blankets, the Dreamland Pure Comfort Bamboo Electric Blanket stands out both in terms of quality and functionality.
