Our verdict

Whether you’re eager to get back into running with your baby or simply need a dependable all-terrain stroller that can handle any adventure, the Cybex Avi Spin delivers on both fronts.

Unlike many running buggies, the Avi Spin boasts a lie-flat recline, perfect for ensuring your little one can nap comfortably while you’re on the move. The adjustable handle with a deceleration brake and lockable front swivel wheel offers excellent control—similar to the Thule Urban Glide 3 4-wheel—but the Avi Spin comes in at around £100 less. Add to that an extra-large sun canopy for full weather protection and a wide storage basket for essentials like a changing bag, snacks, and water bottles, and you’ve got a buggy built for convenience and adventure.

New mum and parent tester, Catrin, loved how effortless it was to use, noting, “This buggy’s best feature is its manoeuvrability. The large wheels make it so smooth to push, even on very rough terrain. It glides along very bumpy roads and is very easy to push with one hand, making it ideal for running,” she says, adding that its lightweight frame and adjustable handle made long outings even more enjoyable.

Cybex Avi Spin with Cot S

How we tested the Cybex Avi Spin

  • Three to four months of using the Cybex Avi Spin multiple times a week

  • Used while on woodland walks, and in the local town and parks

  • Used on days out in the city over undulating terrain

  • Used while jogging

  • Tested with a four-month-old

New mum, Catrin tested the Avi Spin over three to four months with her son, using both the bassinet (also known as the Cybex Cot S) and the seat.

“Using both the Cot S and seat allowed me to thoroughly evaluate its performance as a versatile all-terrain pram, a city stroller, and a running buggy. I used it on bumpy roads and incorporated off-road runs into my routine alongside leisurely walks in town. This gave me a clear sense of how well it handled different environments and activities,” says Catrin.

Cybex Avi Spin: what’s in the box?

  • Avi Spin frame including wheels

  • Seat unit

  • Shopping basket

  • Sun canopy

  • Tether strap

  • User guide

The Avi Spin is compatible with the Cot S which Catrin tested out, as well as all Cybex infant car seats like the Cybex Cloud T i-Size. It’s also compatible with a variety of accessories including the Avi Spin Car Seat Adapters, Gold Footmuff, Summer Seat Liner, Newborn Nest, 2-in-1 Cup Holder and the Stroller Cup Holder.

How easy is the Cybex Avi Spin to assemble?

Putting together the Cybex Avi Spin is quick and straightforward. The frame unfolds easily, and the wheels click securely into place without any tools needed. The seat or bassinet attaches to the chassis using clear guides, though attaching the Cot S can be slightly trickier. For extra help, there are step-by-step instructional videos available to walk you through the process.

While Catrin didn’t have to pump up the tyres initially, the Avi Spin has air-filled tyres, so you’ll need to pump them up now and then to keep the ride smooth.

Cybex Avi Spin: how does it look?

For a robust all-terrain running buggy, the Avi Spin is surprisingly streamlined and stylish with a modern design, says Catrin. Weighing 12.5kg, it’s slightly lighter than the Thule Urban Glide 3 4-Wheel, which is around 13kg, thanks to its lightweight aluminium frame.

“I tested the classic black model and received many compliments about its look and design when I took it to baby groups. From the premium fabric to the large reflective front and rear tyres, it’s evident that the Avi Spin has been made to a high standard. The material is strong, high-quality, and breathable, with plenty of mesh panels around the top and sides for the summer,” she adds.

Another standout feature of the Avi Spin is its large sun canopy, made from UPF50+ protective fabric, which offers full coverage for your baby. It includes mesh ventilation windows for airflow, as well as a peekaboo window at the top, so you can easily check on your little one while the canopy is fully extended.

The Avi Spin is available in five stylish colours: Seashell Beige, Almond Beige, Moon Black, Stormy Blue, and Fog Grey.

Is the Cybex Avi Spin safe and sturdy?

Yes! Catrin says, “The Cybex Avi Spin feels incredibly sturdy and passed the topple test with ease. As a three-wheeled pram, the baby seat is positioned further back than most, which adds to its overall stability. When using the Cot S attachment, I did notice a slight difference in stability, as it’s positioned more forward. This made the pram feel a bit less secure at times, particularly when navigating certain surfaces.

I tested this stroller with my son who is small for his age (four to six months) and it was very easy to strap him in securely. The five-point harness is highly adjustable—its top straps can move up or down depending on your child’s height, while the strap length can be quickly altered with a single button, much like a car seat. I found the harness much more secure than the one on my usual pram (the UPPAbaby Vista V2). The absence of a bumper bar makes it quicker to strap your child in, which is a handy feature if you’re in a rush.

The pram’s standout feature is its manoeuvrability. The large wheels make it exceptionally smooth to push, even on rough terrain or bumpy roads. It glides effortlessly over curbs without needing to lift the front wheel, and it’s easy to steer one-handed, which is ideal for running. Compared to my usual pram, despite its great off-road performance, the Cybex Avi Spin was noticeably smoother and much more enjoyable to push.

The braking system is also well-designed. The foot brake is easy to operate, even without shoes, and effectively stops the pram from rolling on hills. The additional hand brake is a great feature for added control, especially when running or navigating steep descents.

Although the Avi Spin feels safe and secure when using the seat, I’d suggest considering the Cot S carefully, especially if you plan to use it for longer outings or more challenging terrain. It’s not as seamlessly integrated into the pram’s overall design as the seat, so it may not provide the same level of stability.”

How comfortable is the Cybex Avi Spin?

Cybex has clearly put a lot of thought into the design of the Avi Spin to ensure a smooth and comfortable ride for both parents and little ones, especially when navigating tough terrain.

The seat itself is very comfortable, with three recline positions, including a full lie-flat position, making it suitable for newborns when used with the newborn nest or Cot S bassinet. However, it’s worth noting that the seat is world-facing and parents would need to purchase a compatible car seat or use the Cot S to switch to parent-facing mode.

Catrin explains, "I really like that the seat is so comfortable, and the recline toggle behind the seat is super easy to adjust. When my son fell asleep, I could effortlessly recline the seat to a lie-flat position, which didn’t disturb him at all—such a useful feature!"

In terms of comfort for older children, the Avi Spin is equally well thought out. It features an adjustable leg rest, which can be extended as your child grows, ensuring they have plenty of leg room and comfort during longer outings or runs. This feature is great for adjusting the pram as your child gets taller, making it a versatile option that can grow with them.

For parents, the Avi Spin offers an integrated handbrake that makes it easy to control your speed, particularly when running or pushing on hilly terrain. Additionally, the handle is fully adjustable, allowing you to find your ideal pushing position with ease, ensuring a comfortable experience for parents of all heights.

Experts at the NHS recommend that babies travel flat on their backs until around six-months-old, when they're strong enough to support their heads themselves. So, while the Avi Spin is suitable for newborns with the Cot S or newborn nest, it’s best to wait until your baby is a bit older before using the stroller for jogs or runs.

Cybex Avi Spin wheels and storage basket

What’s the Cybex Avi Spin like to use day to day?

The Avi Spin has a few features that really stood out during everyday use. Catrin shares, "The handlebar is very different to other prams, it is narrower and took a while for me to get used to it." Initially, she found it a bit less sturdy, particularly when using the Cot S. However, as she switched to the main seat, this issue became much less noticeable.

Catrin adds, "The handlebar is also covered by a foam cushion, making it very comfortable to hold and push. This softer grip reduces strain, making it much more enjoyable to use. Even with the slimmer design, it still provides excellent control when navigating various surfaces. I also liked how the handlebar can easily be adjusted up and down to suit the person pushing. I’m quite short, not sure if it would suit a tall person."

In terms of manoeuvrability, the Avi Spin is incredibly smooth to push. Catrin says, "The large air-filled tyres effortlessly glide across grass, gravel, and bumpy roads, and the pram is easy to steer even through tight spaces or busy streets. It also mounts curbs with ease and doesn’t require too much lifting."

When it comes to storage, the Avi Spin has a small but functional basket. Catrin notes, "The storage basket is smaller than my UPPAbaby Vista V2 but is certainly adequate for storing things whilst out and about." While it may not fit a full-sized changing bag, it easily accommodates a packed lunch, a few toys, and a water bottle. Additionally, the pram features side pockets next to the child’s seat, which are handy for small items like gloves or a hat in the winter months. There's also a larger pouch behind the seat that can hold slightly larger items like a cardigan or hat.

How does the Cybex Avi Spin deal with public transport?

Although the Avi Spin weighs 12.5kg, the good news is that it’s not too bulky to fit on public transport. “It was a breeze to use on the bus as it manoeuvres well in tight spaces, and since the handlebar can be folded down, it becomes even more compact. I managed to park it easily in small spaces on the bus and in restaurants,” says Catrin. However, she did note that it was trickier to use with the Cot S attached.

“One issue I found was that when the brakes are applied, the front wheel can still swivel and move. This became a problem when using the Cot S on the bus, as I had to manually lock the front wheel with the brake located on the wheel itself.”

Cybex Avi Spin: how easy is it to fold and unfold?

Very! The Avi Spin features a simple and quick folding mechanism, which is a major plus for busy parents. Catrin shares, "It’s very easy to fold and unfold, and you can do it with one hand." The process requires little effort, and once folded, the pram becomes compact enough to fit into a car boot or take on public transport.

That said, the folded pram is still quite bulky and can feel a bit awkward to carry, especially up the stairs. While it has a handy lock to keep it securely folded, the overall size and weight make it challenging to lift into a car boot or up steep steps.

In terms of storage, the folded pram takes up a fair amount of space. Catrin notes, "It fits in the boot of my car, but there isn’t much room left for anything else." However, the detachable wheels are a thoughtful touch, allowing for a bit of extra space when needed.

Does the Cybex Avi Spin come with accessories?

The stroller comes with a versatile shopping basket and rain cover which Catrin loved. She says, “The rain cover was very easy to assemble. I was caught out in the rain before looking at how to attach the cover and was able to attach it quickly and easily whilst out and about. The cover is large and my son was completely covered. It definitely offered better coverage than my UPPAbaby Vista V2’s rain cover.”

Additionally, you can purchase the Cot S as well as other accessories including the Avi Spin Car Seat Adapters, Gold Footmuff, Summer Seat Liner, Newborn Nest, 2-in-1 Cup Holder and the Stroller Cup Holder.

Is the Cybex Avi Spin easy to clean?

Catrin found the Cybex Avi Spin surprisingly easy to maintain after three months of regular use. “I didn’t spill much while testing, and there’s very little wear and tear so far,” she says. One standout feature is that the entire fabric can be removed from the pram for a deeper clean. However, while the sun canopy is simple to detach, removing the rest of the fabric requires a bit more effort.

For guidance, Cybex provides a helpful step-by-step video, which walks you through the process of removing the fabric. That said, Catrin found it just as easy to wipe the fabric clean with a damp cloth for quick touch-ups, making it a low-maintenance option for busy parents.

The pram’s materials are durable and stain-resistant, which adds to its practicality. Plus, the reflective tyres and frame can be quickly wiped down if they get muddy

Is the Cybex Avi Spin good value for money?

Yes, the Cybex Avi Spin offers great value for its price. While it’s around £200 more expensive than budget-friendly options like the Out N’ About Nipper V5, it comes in slightly cheaper than premium models such as the Thule Urban Glide 3 4-Wheel and the UPPAbaby Ridge. Despite the price difference, the Avi Spin offers a comparable set of high-end features, including an extra-large sun canopy, durable fabrics, air-filled tyres, enhanced suspension, and an advanced braking system.

After three months of regular use, Catrin was impressed by its quality and durability. “You do get what you pay for—it’s so smooth to push, and I think it’s worth the money,” she says. Built to handle tough terrain while providing comfort and practicality, the Avi Spin feels like an investment that’s designed to last.
