Britax Römer Baby-Safe i-Size Review
All car seats are required to pass high standards of safety, but for those who want a little extra reassurance, this car seat feels especially sturdy and secure

The Britax Romer Baby-Safe was one of our favourites in testing, and missed out of the top spot only due to its limited age range. Baby-Safe is an i-Size seat which can be used up to 15 months (and so only in the rear-facing position), either using its Isofix base or the seat belt to secure it. Safety is the main concern when it comes to car seats, and the Baby-Safe definitely has you covered; it’s incredibly robust, and you can really tell that this is a quality product.
Like all Britax car seats, a lot of thought has gone into the design of the Baby-Safe, and there are a number of safety features which stand out from the crowd. The seat has an extendable arm on the side which would significantly reduce side impact, and the range of inserts (including a newborn insert) provided gives many safe options for travel at different ages. In this way the seat is fairly customisable, and we found it comforting to know that every stage of growth had been thought about in detail.
We found the seat incredibly easy to fit; like the Pebble Plus, the base shows you when it is installed correctly. Our tester managed it alone with a baby next to her in a matter of minutes. If you happen to have the Britax travel system (or if you’re in the market for one) connecting the seat is a dream. No need for faffing about with adapters – the seat just clicks into place. Of course, if your travel system is a different model, a little faff may be necessary.
Overall the Britax Romer Baby-Safe is a fantastic option for anyone looking for a car seat that will last up to 15 months. It’s averagely priced at £190 at the time of review, which we think is more than worth it for the peace of mind you’ll get using this seat.
