How I tested

I tested the Beldray All-in-One Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner over the course of a month in a family home with two adults and two kids. We have a range of hard floor surfaces at home including wooden flooring, vinyl floors and ceramic tiles.

I used it to shift the mess from muddy shoes, football boots and bikes dragged through the hallway plus everyday spills including food remnants, milk, cordial and ever-present slime.

The beauty of a hard floor cleaner is that it tackles vacuuming, mopping and drying in one go so you’re not juggling a vacuum, mop and bucket while trying to keep your socks (and your kids) off soggy floors. And the Beldray All-in-One does exactly that, and it does it in a compact package that won’t make a massive dent in your budget.

At £135 at the time of writing, it’s the cheapest model in our roundup of the best hard floor cleaners. Rivals from Shark, Bissell and Dyson sit anywhere between £250 and £360 and while it might not be as powerful or come with as many fancy attachments, it holds its own with regards to everyday floor cleaning.

It’s not a heavy-duty, deep-cleaning machine designed to restore neglected floors to their former glory but it offers solid, reliable cleaning for the kind of mess most of us deal with on the daily including mud trodden through the hall, sticky spillages in the kitchen and mysterious patches of dried cordial near the sofa.

It’s easy to grab, simple to use and it even cleans up after itself via an auto clean setting that runs fresh water through the unit and brush head. It’s earned a permanent spot in my cleaning cupboard and has made weekly floor cleaning feel like far less of a chore.

Beldray All-in-One Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner: How easy is it to assemble?

Beldray hard floor cleaner

Assembly is very low effort. The handle slots into the main body without tools and clicks into place in seconds. After that, it’s a case of charging it up (for at least five hours), filling the clean water tank and you’re good to go.

The clean and dirty water tanks are separate, which is one of the big selling points of this type of machine. You fill the clean tank with water, and the dirty tank collects everything the brush head lifts from your floors. There’s something deeply satisfying about emptying the tank and seeing just how much dirt accumulates on family floors.

It also comes with a drip tray that doubles as a storage base. This keeps any residual drips contained and gives the cleaner a neat home in a cupboard or utility room.

It functions well with water alone but you can use a diluted cleaning solution for some extra clout. The Beldray branded cleaning liquid is hard to come by so I used some Method floor cleaner as I'm a big fan of the Wild Rhubarb scent.

Beldray All-in-One Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner: How does it feel to hold?

Holding the Beldray All-in-One Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner

At 3.7kg, it’s obviously heavier than a traditional mop but it’s lighter than some hard floor cleaner rivals including the Vax ONEPOWER Glide 2 at 5.4kg, and most of the weight sits in the floor head. In use, it feels balanced and steady and glides smoothly across wood, vinyl and tiles, helped by the motorised turbo brush doing much of the hard work underneath.

The swivel head is decent but not flawless. You don’t get a full, flexible turn like you might with a high-end cordless vacuum. It manages open spaces well but feels more restricted when weaving around chair legs or trying to angle into awkward spots.

Beldray All-in-One Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner: What’s it like to use day to day?

On muddy footprints and general grime, it performs really well. The motorised brush agitates the dirt, and the machine then sucks up the dirty water so floors are left only slightly damp. In our kitchen and hallway, they were dry within seconds, which makes life much easier when people are constantly moving through.

It coped well with sticky spills like milk and cordial, although thicker or dried-on mess needed a slower pass or two to fully lift. In high-traffic areas where grime had built up over time, it improved things but I occasionally ended up using a scrubber to fully shift the last traces. For that level of deep cleaning, you’d need a more powerful and more expensive machine (or more elbow grease and a traditional mop).

Beldray All-in-One Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner cleaning under a toilet

It doesn’t hug skirting boards particularly closely, and corners need a quick follow-up with a cloth. It also struggled to fit under our wall-mounted toilet and some lower furniture, so you may still need a secondary tool for tight gaps.

The 25-minute runtime was enough to clean our downstairs in one go, including lounge, kitchen, hallway and a bathroom. If you have a larger ground floor, you may need to recharge before finishing.

Emptying the Beldray All-in-One Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner

I love the self-cleaning function. Once you return the unit to its tray, empty the dirty tank and refill the clean tank, you can activate the cycle. It flushes water through the brush and internal system, clearing out lingering muck. It means the machine feels fresh each time you use it, rather than harbouring old dirt and grime.

Does the Beldray All-in-One Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner offer value for money?

Beldray All-in-One Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner vs Vax Power hard floor cleaner

The Beldray All-in-One Multi-Surface Floor Cleaner next to the Vax ONEPOWER Glide 2, a much bigger, bulkier machine

Yes. At £135, it significantly undercuts the Shark HydroVac at £247, the Vax ONEPWR Glide 2 and Bissell CrossWave at £250, the Dyson WashG1 at £299 and the Bosch Unlimited 7 Aqua at £360.

You don’t get the same power, flexibility or premium feel as those higher-end machines. But for everyday family mess on sealed hard floors, it’s more than capable and I'd recommend it as a handy way of keeping on top of household chores without too much effort.
