Beldray Antibac Pet Plus+ 2-in-1 Spray Mop review: is this budget pet mop worth buying?

This budget Beldray spray mop is perfectly serviceable for quick wet cleans, but it earns its keep on pet hair. The main compromise is a bendy plastic head that doesn’t make full contact across its width.

How I tested

I tested the Beldray Antibac Pet Plus+ 2-in-1 Spray Mop at home over the course of a month. I used it on a tiled kitchen floor and a lino utility room floor for wet cleaning with both water and cleaning solution, everyday freshening and dry pet-hair collection. I have two cats and two dogs, so there was plenty of hair for it to collect.

I paid close attention to how easy it was to assemble, how sturdy it felt in use, how well the spray function worked, how quickly the floors dried, how much floor the mop covered with each pass and how easy the pads were to wash and reuse.

The Beldray Antibac Pet Plus+ 2-in-1 Spray Mop is a cheap as chips spray mop that does a decent job on hard floors, with one standout feature: the pet-hair attachment is excellent.

As a wet mop, it's perfectly capable. It's light, easy to assemble, comfortable to use and the spray trigger releases just enough water or cleaning solution without leaving the floor soaked. My tiled kitchen floor and lino utility room floor dried quickly after use, which is exactly what you want when people, pets and general household chaos are still tramping through.

The weak point is the mop head. It feels flimsy and the thin plastic bends upwards at the sides as you mop. That means it doesn't stay flat against the floor, so each pass covers less ground than it should. It still cleans perfectly well, but you cover less ground with each pass.

Where it really comes into its own is picking up dry pet hair. The thicker chenille pad hangs down properly, so the curved mop head isn't an issue. It gets into nooks and crannies that a vacuum can miss, trapping hair in its little noodle-like strands before it shakes out easily into the bin or back door. If you've got pets and lots of hard flooring, that's the reason to buy it.

Beldray Antibac Pet Plus+ 2-in-1 Spray Mop: what's in the box?

This is a simple, low-faff mop rather than one with lots of extras. Beldray includes a scrubbing pad for wet mess and muddy paw prints, plus a chenille drying pad for collecting dog and cat hair. Both pads are machine washable.

What's the Beldray Antibac Pet Plus+ 2-in-1 Spray Mop like to set up?

Set-up couldn't be much easier. It's lightweight from the moment you take it out of the box, so there's no wrestling with awkward parts or wondering what goes where - the mop head clicks onto the end of the pole and you're ready to go. The handle is comfortable to hold and the telescopic pole stays firmly in place even when you're putting some pressure on it.

The budget price is obvious once you get to the mop head. It's thin, plasticky and feels less sturdy than the rest of the mop. Even so, for around £13 it's a good enough mop for the price.

What's the Beldray Antibac Pet Plus+ 2-in-1 Spray Mop like to use day to day?

For everyday cleaning, it's a handy lightweight mop that's easy to grab for quick jobs. It glides around hard floors easily, stores neatly and the spray trigger works well, releasing enough liquid to clean without leaving puddles behind.

The washable pads are useful too. Both came out clean after a machine wash and dried quickly enough to use again the following day. Pet hair also shook out of the chenille pad without much effort, which saves picking it out by hand.

The main drawback is still the mop head. Because the plastic flexes, the edges lift off the floor during use, so you're cleaning a narrower strip than the width of the head suggests.

How well does the Beldray Antibac Pet Plus+ 2-in-1 Spray Mop perform on wet hard-floor cleaning?

On my tiled kitchen floor and lino utility room floor, it dealt well with everyday dirt and freshened the floors nicely. The spray function gives you good control over how much liquid you're using, and the floors dried quickly afterwards.

This isn't a heavy-duty mop, and it doesn't feel especially robust. The curved edges mean you need a few more passes to cover larger areas, but for everyday kitchen and utility room cleaning it performs well enough for the price.

This is where it stands out. The chenille pet-hair pad is much thicker than the wet cleaning pad, so it makes proper contact with the floor and picked up dry pet hair very effectively. It also reached into corners and tight spots where the vacuum often leaves bits behind.

Hair gathered neatly in the chenille strands and shook off easily afterwards. If you're constantly doing quick fur clear-ups on hard floors, this feature alone makes the mop much more appealing.

Is the Beldray Antibac Pet Plus+ 2-in-1 Spray Mop good value for money?

Yes. At around £13, you're not getting a premium-quality mop. The mop head feels cheap and the flexing sides are frustrating. On the other hand, the handle is comfortable, the pole feels sturdy, the spray function works well and the washable pads are genuinely useful.

If you're after something that feels solid and built to last, you'll probably want to spend more. If you want an inexpensive spray mop for everyday cleaning that also does an excellent job of collecting pet hair from hard floors, this offers good value.
