Help me present evidence to my son

AlbertaWildRose · 02/08/2024 00:17

My DS is 18 and heavy into the TWAW belief. He thinks JK Rowling is a despicable human being for her position and thinks that women should have no problem with all of this, and it's all just "scare-mongering" to say otherwise. Whenever I try to talk to him about this I end up getting too emotional to be rational. I really want to present him with evidence that this movement is not good for women - please help direct me to some good resources. Thank you.

This thread has really descended into chaos, but I want to thank those of you who have given me rational suggestions of how I can discuss this with my son. It is obviously a very divisive issue and I hope that as he matures he will come to understand the other side of it.

I never had an argument other than tolerance which is in short supply on here

No one has to tolerate an ideology that’s potentially harmful to women and girls. All the evidence as to why many people find this potentially harmful has been laid out very clearly. You just retort with ‘bigot’! That really is your only argument and you’re not going to get far, or taken seriously, with something as amateur as that. It’s just so boring now.

Which one? Where I mirrored a comment accusing me of promoting suicide?

No, silly. The one where you said you hadn't had a post deleted. Just before you had several posts deleted.

Yes, because I can see you. Obviously.

This is clearly some kind of shit stirring game to you. Come in. Derail a thread. Accuse anyone who challenges anything you say of being a bigot. Well done. It's always a pleasure when TRAs reveal the paucity of their arguments.

Love a wee game of TRA bingo when I’m bored. Yet to get a coherent reasonable argument yet. It’s always the same writing style too, sans full stops…

Cass had no background in psychiatry or anything relevant to the study and only invited echo chamber people and groups to give evidence no trans or even the BMA lol 😂

She did, however, engage with 9 gender identity clinics asking for data about their patients' long term outcomes, and 8 of them refused to answer.

Ah. I'm glad that post was deleted.

I don't care about the pesonal attack it contained but I do think we need to be very careful with the subject of suicide.

You accused me personally of endangering young life whereas in reality it’s your sort and deliberately so

I would show contemptuous anger.
“What an embarrassment you are, pretending you think a man can be a woman on his own say so. No one believes it- not even you. All you’re doing is showing yourself up as an idiot to your friends, and relatives.”
”It’s so sad that you have to be reminded, but women are allowed to say No to men, even if those men feel sad or angry, and even if you feel anger at women saying no. The answer is No, so get back in your box, and STFU.”
”How dare you presume to lecture me with this complete nonsense. You educate yourself and don’t raise this topic again unless it’s to give the groveling apology you don’t yet realize you owe me.”

Fuck but I love this.

DianaAntoniaJasmine · 02/08/2024 18:46

Beachcomber · 02/08/2024 18:41

Gosh.

I don't usually engage with this kind of thing.

But I am going to say something serious in response to your post.

Suicide and suicide ideation are contagious.

This constant telling young vulnerable people that they are part of a cohort that has very high rates of suicide is dangerous. It not evidence based and it is highly irresponsible.

Please stop doing it.

Your hatred and its resulting despair is responsible

blood on your hands not mine

Did you know gender studies is a university discipline? Go figure. Evidence? Go look. I won’t personally tell you because I know you won’t respect the doctors and professors around the world making their research public.

You people like Hilary Cass?

Nothingeverything · 02/08/2024 18:28

I've reread this and it still doesn't make any sense.

The Holocaust was, in fact, all about trans people, actually.

It's a Mickey Mouse degree which only exists because people like Judith Butler would be completely unemployable otherwise.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 02/08/2024 18:42

You can study all sorts of shite at university.

RapidOnsetGenderCritic · 02/08/2024 18:33

"I have evidence but I won't let you see it, unless you can find it for yourself" isn't very convincing. I have been looking for a rational, coherent exposition of trans identity thinking for years now, and I haven't found it. It would be nice if even one of the far more clever trans activists could show me where it is. Even my son seems unable or unwilling to explain why I am "a bigot" if I have a different understanding to him. I have been wondering lately where the true bigotry lies - is it not with the people who will go no contact with someone purely because they see the world differently?

I just read an article in Transgender Studies Quarterly and to give you an idea why I won’t waste my time evidencing everything I think with an intelligent polite ish but closed minded person here are the references.
