'Defence advocate Victoria Dow told the court that Miller "recognises and feels the horror of his conduct" and was said to feel an "enduring sense of shame".
Miller was also said to have expressed concern over how his behaviour would affect the wider trans community.'

Andrew Miller jailed for 20 years for abducting and sexually assaulting girl in Scottish Borders

Andrew Miller, also known as Amy George, identifies as a transgender woman and is said to be in the process of transitioning. The judge previously described the "abhorrent crimes" against the girl as the "realisation of every parent's worst nightmare"...

I live locally so I 'knew' Miller (previous customer of his shop, plus around town)
I also know of a rapist at the end of my road. He has done his time in prison but is still crossing boundaries with local women (will knock on front door of single women when it is dark with some spurious reason such as their dog is barking too much or their bin looks like it might blow off down the road, their car lights on etc). He also steals underwear locally. The local Police aren't taking action.
I've restricted where my autistic female child can walk. Her small friend group at school are aware (other parents are concerned). He's 'done his time' & I fully appreciate he is not Miller but it's still causing difficulties & may escalate again.
I am also angry that the women in the village have to adjust & be afraid of him.

bombastix · 18/10/2023 16:26

This is a paedophile emboldened by community acceptance and an atmosphere where the Scottish government accepted self ID. Perhaps now people will be more skeptical of the motivations of men who do decide they are women and spend their time working on what in effect is a disguise.

The mitigation is disgusting and I am glad the judge saw right through it.

Erraticclothespeg · 18/10/2023 16:18

It was early evening in winter Zutt. Cold, wet, dark. The girl thought Miller was an old woman. He probably put on a voice.

I have a similar age daughter who is cheerful and trusting of the world. Might my daughter have done the same? When they were little I used to tell my children to ask a woman for help if they ever got lost.

In his socials Miller was clearly emboldened by the debate over fetish men's rights in Scotland at the time. Locals have said that he'd been living 'as a woman' in the run up to the abduction.

ferretface · 18/10/2023 16:14

Transwomen are men, and some men (a non trivial number of men) are monstrous.

Glad the judge imposed a long sentence for this absolutely horrific series of crimes.

ZuttZeVootEeeVo · 18/10/2023 15:48

I would say that arguments about GRA and self ID are limited with regards to this case.

I think you are wrong.

Every single man who identifys as a woman, for a day, or like Andrew Miller/Amy George for years is protected under Gender Reassignment. That's whats allows him to determine which pronouns he gets address with in court.

In the Equality Act, gender reassignment means proposing to undergo, undergoing or having undergone a process to reassign your sex. That is, in part, the process to begin getting a GRC. Theres a good chance he had a passport and driving licence in his female name. He certainly could have them if he wanted to.

Because the GRA exists, the PC of GR needs to exist to allow these men to gain the proof they need to get a GRC and a female birth certificate. But these men can get passports and driving licences and be recorded as female for years before they do, if ever get a GRC. And in the meantime, they can switch between male and female when it suits them.

Because the GRA and PC of GR exists as they do, children are been told that men who dress as women, are women.

If the GRC didnt exist, men wouldnt need female id, courts wouldnt call men women, men wouldnt be in female spaces, children wouldnt be told that men in womens clothes are women.

It could have been bad lighting and noisy, but how sure can we be that the girl thought she saw a female woman or a man shes be taught to see as a woman?

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 18/10/2023 15:41

Did he fall down the steps in the remand centre, by any chance?

IcakethereforeIam · 18/10/2023 15:36

The Mail puts it in the headline

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12644139/Paedophile-abducted-abused-girl-27-hours-jailed-20-years.html

It's a very DM article; value of his house, his cars! Some of the details are grim. If they're correct, he had built a hidden room which was accessed through a wardrobe and had a bed. This crime seemed very premeditated.

I hope he rots in jail.

The girl was very brave and clever, I wish her all the best.

Trans butcher Andrew Miller who sexually abused schoolgirl is jailed

Andrew Miller was dressed as a woman when he lured the primary school pupil into his car as she walked home and then trapped her in his house in the Scottish Borders in February.

His 'trans' status was central to his identity for many years, related to his fetishes, and a key factor in the abduction, according to the judge.

And we need to keep saying this.

By trans activists logic this rapist is a woman. They can’t just pick and choose. One in, all in.

It’s sunlight. It’s useful to show people the pervert’s charter …

lifeturnsonadime · 18/10/2023 14:36

I don't think that the GRC issue matters to a man's ability to dress as a woman to commit a crime.

It does make a massive difference in how it is reported and treated though, if Miller was a legal female, I don't think any reports would be correctly sexing him.

The Labour Party need to explain to me what would happen to a person who committed a crime like Miller's if he had a GRC. Because at the moment i think as a legal female he would be housed in a woman's prison. If I'm wrong about that I'd like to understand the reasoning.

medianewbie · 18/10/2023 14:35

@catduckgoose I'm local. Yes, he's been known for stealing women's underwear for years. He was known as 'Tranny Miller' at High School. He's always been an attention seeker. He became increasingly confrontational with customers (of which I was one). Then he began to cross dress at work as well as in local pubs. He lived more fully in his 'alter ego' & closed his butchery business (the sign wasn't painted over Sunday- its very recent). A 'stain on the town' yes, but his behaviour has been escalating for years.

stealtheatingtunnocks · 18/10/2023 14:32

Is there a way of keeping an eye on which jail he is in? Because if Labour get in I bet there is a move to shift him to the female estate.

catduckgoose · 18/10/2023 14:13

One of the earlier news reports said that he was known in the area for stealing underwear from washing lines, and when the police searched his house for this crime they found a stash of women's and girls' underwear.

This doesn't seem to be unusual amongst men with this paraphilia, on the trans forums there are so many men confessing to stealing clothes and particularly intimate garments from their sisters or mothers. And other men cheering them on.

ArabellaScott · 18/10/2023 13:58

I would say that arguments about GRA and self ID are limited with regards to this case.

It may have an impact on which prison he goes to, of course.

But the wider question, of how women and girls are shamed into ignoring boundaries, questioning their own instinctive responses, and overcoming uneasiness is something we also need to look at.

Crossdressing disorder is a paraphilia. A fetish.

'Transvestism is a form of fetishism (the clothing is the fetish), which is a type of paraphilia in its most extreme forms. In transvestism (cross-dressing), men prefer to wear women’s clothing, or, far less commonly, women prefer to wear men's clothing. This may be because women have a broader range of clothing considered consistent with gender. However, they do not have an inner sense of belonging to the opposite sex or wish to change their sex, as do some people with severe gender dysphoria. However, men who cross-dress may have feelings of gender dysphoria when they are under stress or experience a loss.'

I wonder if by seeking to 'limit damage to the wider trans community', he's also trying to get brownie points. After all, they are the most marginalised and vulnerable™️. Not at all like a young girl.

ArabellaScott · 18/10/2023 13:46

My thoughts are very much with the girl and her family. A horrific ordeal. I hope she can draw strength from her own initiative and bravery in making her escape.

And my rage is unbounded for those who enabled this, who suggested that 'transwomen' present no risk by virtue of their magical gender identity, and who have attempted to shame the women who have repeatedly warned at the risks to safeguarding.

The legal issues are one part of it, but there are a lot of people who bear responsibility for creating a situation where fetishists and predators are enabled and protected.

Transwomen are men.

A friend of mine runs a support charity which has many clients who were long-term prisoners trying to adapt to life on the outside. He told me it's very common for the pedophiles and child abusers to victim blame and have little to no insight into the harm they've inflicted. He doesn't consider them to be rehabilitated and has to take extra safeguarding measures on top of the existing stringent procedures when they're on the premises.

So it doesn't surprise me that this vile deviant has that same attitude.

Toseland · 18/10/2023 13:38

As people have said before - he's asked to be called a man so he can emerge from prison as a woman with nothing to tie him to his crimes. The Home Secretary should step in and put a stop this nonsense.
Time to call these men what they really are - 'men disguised as women' for nefarious reasons.
Flowers to the poor girl.

CorruptedCauldron · 18/10/2023 13:34

There it is. No remorse. Despicable creature.

ArabellaScott · 18/10/2023 13:33

' I note that you are recorded by the risk assessor as talking in detail about your desire to limit the impact of your offending on what is referred to as the wider trans community. By way of contrast, however, the assessor reports that, during her discussions with you, you appeared to deflect from the harm your sexual assaults have caused to your victim. You denied that any harm had come to her during her days as your captive, and, while you used the term “inappropriate”, you avoided the use of the word “harm”. You even appeared to place the responsibility for your offending onto your victim.'

I feel like screaming. What will it take to get the trans lobby/ SNP/ all the helpful idiots who support this agenda to see how dangerous it is?!

ArabellaScott · 18/10/2023 13:29

From the judgement, and again, please exercise caution if reading. It's graphic and upsetting.

Judge:

'The mode of abduction itself is also in my view a significantly aggravating feature, if any were needed in such a case, and here to speak plainly I am referring to your female presentation as you invited your victim into your car. One only has to ask oneself the simple question: would an 11 year old girl have willingly entered your car had you presented as a man? The answer is that obviously she would not. Your intentions were wicked and predatory, and clearly involved a substantial component of planning. Indeed, the mode of abduction utilised by you in my opinion entirely supports that proposition when it is seen in the context of your whole conduct in this matter.'

He’s taking one for the team. As in the rules of misogyny, male violence makes men look bad. Trans women’s crimes make trans women look bad. He has as much right to call himself a TW as any other male, though. He’s under the trans umbrella, even if he’s just into cross-dressing, but it seems clear he was an actual TW.

I believe he is remorseful about harming the trans community and that’s why he’s on the he/him pronouns. But he sure as hell isn’t remorseful about harming that poor girl. Otherwise he’d never have made excuses about trying to be ‘motherly’. That is disgusting, insulting, gaslighting garbage.

He’ll let his male persona be guilty of this crime so he can emerge from his grubby cocoon like a beautiful butterfly, ready to make a fresh start as a TW, his past self erased. Hope he rots in hell before that ever happens.

catduckgoose · 18/10/2023 13:24

From the judgement:

I note that you are recorded by the risk assessor as talking in detail about your desire to limit the impact of your offending on what is referred to as the wider trans community.

Maybe this is why he chose not to adorn his fake woman identity for the trial?

As noted on another thread he was addressed as male on his request.

Miller has lived as a transwoman for many years. Openly and vocally.

"At the time of his arrest, he was presenting as Amy George but confirmed he wished to be addressed as Andrew Miller using "he" pronouns for simplicity."
