The Guardian have just posted an invitation to put questions to Eddie Izzard. This feels like a great opportunity to get a well worded, gender critical question out there. The thing is I'm a bit stuck, collectively we must be able to come up with something though!

Post your questions for Eddie Izzard

Whether running for parliament or in multiple marathons, performing on film and in multilingual standup, the star will be here to tell you how on earth she does it

Eddie's a prick for attention seeking behaviour in women's toilets,
See Eddie's hand on Eddie's dick inside Eddie's dress, as per photo, at St. Pancras.

Eddie's a prick for scaring girls in their own sex toilets and boasting about it.

It's a nasty disturbing habit Eddie has got there, whatever character we think Eddie's dressed as today.

How about that for fair comment and an example of free speech Pika?

heavens, if someone makes themselves look like a tit it's got to be OK to point that out

otherwise where will I get all my fun?

IcakethereforeIam · 10/10/2023 19:05

You 'can’t think of another area of public debate where it’s deemed OK to take a pop at someone’s appearance in the way I see here'!? Have you ever read anything about any woman in the news?

Incidentally, my comment is neutral regarding the undeniable resemblance. He wants to look like/be a woman. Ursula is a female character. He might be flattered. Do you think being compared to a middle aged woman is objectionable? I think Melissa Mccarthy got the role in the remake (I've not seen it).

Sorry I’m picking on your comment, I could have picked on two or three others on this thread or the many snarky comments and cheap digs I see aimed at people who identify as trans on GC threads

And my point wasn’t whether Eddie will read this or not - my point is that as someone receptive to GC arguments, it massively puts me off engaging. I can’t think of another area of public debate where it’s deemed OK to take a pop at someone’s appearance in the way I see here.

You might not intend it to be transphobic, you might not think it’s transphobic, but sometimes the collective effect looks pretty transphobic to me.

And sometimes posters comments look like they've just come to have a go at posters for the hell of it.

I made a, hardly novel, observation of the uncanny resemblance between Izzard and a cartoon character. I've no reason to think he'd read it, no reason to think it would ruin his day if he did.

@PikachuEars you can be certain I'd read your scolding but seem to care very little that you laying the respectability of the entire GC movement on my shoulders might be a bit much?

Nah, she'd have found it funny. And can anyone honestly say I'm wrong. There's a thread, from a few years ago, on reddit (tra central) clamouring for a live action remake with Izzard as the sea witch!

Not married, shacked up.

It's a bit worrying, she's been dead for 30 years.

I'll never again have my face wiped with warm spit on a kleenex. Thankfully.

Well someone is channelling her... Mother in law then?

@IcakethereforeIam I didn't know your mother knew your user name!

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 10/10/2023 17:50

Did you choose that mugshot yourself, Eddie?

fedupandstuck · 10/10/2023 17:34

@PikachuEars if people are going to take one anonymous poster's comments as representative of the opinion of everyone who they regard as "GC" then there's no hope for them.

The worst thing a woman can be, is unkind to a man, isn't that right?!

Woman2023 · 10/10/2023 17:30

Don't forget ladies, we mustn't mock the men by comparing them to cartoon women.

That's much worse than men putting on heels, a short skirt and red lipstick and expecting us to pretend that makes them some kind of woman.

PikachuEars · 10/10/2023 17:12

IcakethereforeIam · 10/10/2023 12:47

Oh, I'm not sorry. I'll try to be kinder.

But honestly, the resemblance is uncanny.

If you’re just fighting for the right to be nasty on the internet, knock yourself out.

If you’re actually here because you care about defending women’s rights, you might want to think about the impression jibes like this give about the GC movement.

BezMills · 10/10/2023 14:04

I too would like to know about how high the heels are and how you manage to walk past building sites without getting 1000000 proposals of marriage from the sexy builders from all the Diet Coke adverts. Always a problem, I find.

viques · 10/10/2023 13:35

Those answers to those questions are really going to give insight into Eddies understanding of what being a woman in the UK in 2023 really means aren’t they? Though I think they might give a really good insight into how Eddie sees being a man in the UK in 2023, because let’s face it he knows more about being a man than he does being a woman. Sorry I meant he knows more about boy mode than girl mode .

StoneColdAlibi · 10/10/2023 13:33

That top one is an excellent example of the 'absolutely not a fetish' brigade of autogynephiles

Why don't you care about women and girls?

viques · 10/10/2023 12:58

Are there no decent hairdressers in Brighton?

ZuttZeVootEeeVo · 10/10/2023 12:58

Why do you use women toilets?

You said in your autobiography you used them 40 years ago, and theres photo of you using them now, have you always used womens toilets?

Also, what would be the one thing you would do to help stop male violence against women and girls?

Lonesomefetter · 10/10/2023 12:58

He will just fluff and flaff he is not capable of shame. Now nobody should be shamed ever apparently, kink shaming is the worst thing you can be shamed for... Hey, there's a contradiction (shame for pointing it out). <shame>

viques · 10/10/2023 12:57

Do you ever wear casual clothes when in girl mode, or do you always feel you have to dress as a stereotype? Why do you think this is?

IamSarah · 10/10/2023 12:57

I am still waiting for Eddie Izzard to answer this question. I have a feeling I will be waiting a while.
