Highlighting the whole problem with the UK 😂

The fact you're having to question dodge and react with laughing emojis rather than answer is quite sad really.
(Don't actually answer my question, I genuinely don't want to get you into trouble.)
Highlighting one of the big problems of where you are! (No laughing react from me as it's not really funny at all)

DorsetKnobBiscuit · 21/10/2026 10:58

You get to a point in all these threads where the OP replies with that emoji.

Makes you think that all along it's just some engagement farmer keeping the ball in the air until they make a certain number of posts.

Cascadia · 21/10/2026 11:02

RedToothBrush · 21/10/2026 10:57

I'm not sure if I agree with that assessment as a fake poster.

But I am now imagining the hoards of child snatchers that roam Alderley Edge looking for the children of millionaires to snatch off the streets which we all need to be vigilant. Given the OP who definitely didn't read about this risk in the Daily Mail or GB news who lie I'm really left wondering which reputable sources she heard it from.

Along with the idea of environmentally unfriendly completely paved over concrete driveways across the entire Home Counties, Lake District and other places outside London.

All whilst pushing the Sales Pitch of the Infallible Perfect Dubai Dream.

And completely glossing over the falling drones because they happen in other civilian areas and potentially hit other people's kids so don't matter. Afterall Iranian Drones and Missiles much less of a worry than Child Snatchers in Britain because Dubai is wonderful and the reporting in the British Media is all lies... Even though it's the Middle Eastern press leading these stories due to Middle Eastern leaders actively warning their citizens about them in acts of self harm.

American has Trump supporters who believe in this type of cognitive dissonant nonsense. I don't believe there is a lack of Brits who have such conflicting views.

Yes very fair point, they just seem so relentlessly ignorant about what's happening but that does exist in real people of course.

I've found your posts very interesting by the way, I am quite out of date about Dubai although I used to work for a company that owned one of the papers so I do know a fair bit about the press.

I'm a lawyer so I also know lots of people who moved abroad to work and can well imagine OP's husband - I'm showing my age but the word that used to be used was FILTH (stands for "failed in London try Hong Kong").

I was 100% sure that would be the only part of my post(s) you'd engage with.

OhTheCowsInTheMeadowGoMoo · 21/10/2026 11:06

Not so much an "ask me anything" thread really, is it, when you can't truthfully answer some questions out of fear of consequences.

Notonthestairs · 21/10/2026 11:07

"American has Trump supporters who believe in this type of cognitive dissonant nonsense. I don't believe there is a lack of Brits who have such conflicting views."

Yes, it's all a bit 'leopards won't eat my face'. I assume the Op would be in favour of greater censorship provided it was her choice of government, not recognising that the same would apply when it wasn't her preferred party.

Of course that assumes that the Op wanted to live in a democracy which allowed for changes in government.

But I’m pointing out that that is the mentality of the people in the UK - they love nothing more than to criticise others….especially those who do well for themselves….ahem.

All boils down to pure jealousy, not attainable for them so they pull those that have it down as it makes them feel better!

Did you feel better when you told people they would weep if they saw your bank balance?

It's your husband, not you, who is doing well for himself.

I can 100 per cent, hand on heart, tell you I'm not jealous.
I honestly couldn't think of anything worse than living somewhere like where you are.
It sounds stifling.
It's not all about money. (Well, not to everyone.)

I really wouldn't. What you can't seem to get through your head is that having millions in the bank or whatever much you have isn't the be all and end all to everyone like it is to you.

I did a little yes as I was getting fed up of the assumptions of how funny it is of the regional tensions going on around us and what will we do if it all kicks off - as then we are not tax free anymore blah blah so that was my in the moment rage response

wild assumptions that we are here because we have no money!

Is OP -
a) The Dubai tourist board
b) A millionaire's wife living in Dubai
c) A marketing PA married to a gas engineer called Dave. She's off sick sitting in her semi in Romford wearing trackie bums and eating Wotsits.

britindubai · 21/10/2026 11:10

Oh I must have missed them

Here they are pasted for you again:

So just to be clear you object to a free press and agree with censorship of criticism of the government?

Do you really hope your children aren't gay? Why?

What does mental health ratio is high mean?

Could you clarify whether you think it would be better if it was illegal for you to say that children get snatched from the streets in the UK and that the NHS is failing?

britindubai · 21/10/2026 11:14

Totally understand that, we can’t all be rich

Nobody thinks the tension are funny. Where did anyone say that?
People said they were concerning enough for them not to want to be in Dubai. People asked if you were concerned for your welfare and that of your children.

You have typed rage responses?

Being rich has more than one definition.
I'll take mine rather than yours.

JulietteNichols · 21/10/2026 11:17

If it's so brilliant why have you spent all this time on this thread instead of living the dream?

Thank you @RedToothBrush for your informative comments. If I lived there I'd be looking to get out as soon as possible.

The UAE is a Muslim country, why on earth would they support something that goes against their religion?

There is the principle of 'separation of church and state' to allow for people to express their religious identity without infringing on others' rights.
