I totally get where you're coming from, OP. I lived for many years as an expat in various "unsafe" countries ("shitholes" as one friend described them) and never felt in danger. Things would happen that would make the news back home, and friends and family would anxiously call us. "Are you all right?" while we were just going about our normal everyday lives, taking the kids to school, going to the supermarket, watching TV, enjoying dinner at a restaurant. Most people don't really understand the powerful persistence of normality. Glad you're enjoying life.

The Iranian government has made it clear that they will target certain civilian targets and critical infrastructure going forward though

We managed to make good enough choices, both pre and post-children, that we can afford a very nice life right here in London without needing to dodge our taxes (and you might weep if you saw our bank balance, or, to be more precise, our investment and retirement accounts, even after the 45%).

Sorry you haven't managed to do better, OP. I would guess you'll be able to afford to come back some day.

*And the Cleveland Clinic has a very nice private A&E facility, but it's referral only, so save up for good insurance.
