You’re invited to a family BBQ on Saturday. You’ve been told to arrive 3-4pm and food is being served at 5pm, around kids’ tea time. Both you and the host have primary school aged DC. What time is the latest you leave?

I’m shocked people would be so caught up about bed times that they’d bring pyjamas and toothbrush in the car, or give them a shower at the host’s house. Wtf just chill out. 😳

it’s just your family and the other family, not a big event

I’m usually a stickler for routine but with this age, summer holidays, location close by, family friends, I’d be more relaxed and possibly 8-10 pm if kids can sleep in tomorrow?

I think that was just so that if they fell asleep in the car on the way home they could be transferred straight to bed already in pjs and teeth brushed?
A lot depends on the age of the primary school children. There’s a huge difference between a 4 year old and an 11 year old!

I’m sat here shaking my head because I’m just baffled that anyone would be so ruled by routines like this. I’ve never come across the likes of it. 😳

No idea, I’ve never done it myself. I guess different things work for different people though.

Me neither, toddlers just maybe but not primary school age. They'd be awake as soon as they had to get out of the car anyway, just straight upstairs and teeth/toilet bed.
