Would he [Knauf] have been in the meeting?

Somebody should have sat in, surely, to witness what was said and determine what action, if any, needed to be taken. I wouldn't think the Met would just turn up and show M a letter without it being noted in someone's diary or a note of the meeting being made.

There should be a paper trail for all of this UK and US, especially considering the nature of the alleged crimes and the involvement of the RF. I would also presume the RF are meticulous in their recording of meetings/events/letters received.

Exactly! , I really dislike this topic as a discussion for our thread but because she couldn’t help herself once again here we are ….delicately tip toeing around a highly charged and sensitive subject!
and of course she has made it all about her!! 🙄
insufferable woman!!!!
now we are wondering if ham deliberately keep quiet about these crimes…Is that why Harry doesn’t mention Andrew ? …is that why Harry didn’t mention the monstrous crimes about African parks? ….

Those are very key questions.

BBC says thinks she may feel she’s been vindicated and will now be seen in a more positive light.

No love.

The alleged sins of your father are not your sins.

You have enough of your own that you are judged on.

I can't help thinking that if she had cut him off for what has now come to light she would have kept their squabbles out of the press & not drawn attention.

Who knows though?

Unfortunately, there have been so many accusations made by HAM against numerous people, even if all of this turns out to be 100% true, those accusations remain, so the slate cannot be wiped clean.

Ironically, if this does all turn out to be true, if HAM had not done any interviews, wrote any books or fed info to their sources/friends to criticise the RF family there may have been the response the BBC is expecting to happen.

mysoddenbananabread · 23/10/2026 18:13

Maybe now we have the answer why Harry and Meghan never criticised Andrew. Who knows 🤷‍♀️

FancyKitten · 23/10/2026 18:15

RF must have known this was about to drop, hence the feel good story about PW (Graham Norton). Surely HAM would have known, too? And had an appropriate statement drafted. But, perhaps not…

mysoddenbananabread · 23/10/2026 18:15

You are spot on @jeffgoldblum. In one swift statement she made it all about herself.

StrawberryWasp · 23/10/2026 17:57

In 2018 why would she automatically believe accusations against her father?
If they were totally out of the blue you would expect she would at least have some element of doubt about the allegations?
Yet she presumed him guilty?

Unless the evidence was very clear cut and damning in which case wouldn't he have been investigated and charged?

So international law enforcement have had good evidence he's a paedophile and have done nothing for 8 years? And she knew he was a paedophile but kept quiet?

Whilst speaking her truth, and attacking her husbands family?

There is something very wrong with this whole situation and I don't trust a word any Markle says.

Oh Harry what a shit show you've gotten yourself into. And managed to be persuaded your family were the problem.

Yes, last paragraph is a typical narc move. Let’s point out how bad your family are to deflect attention away from my mad family. BIL does this to me / my parents, we’re all nice people. Meanwhile his family is a freak show!

I have been silently reading these threads one thing I don’t get is if she knew in 2018 ( and has done diddly squat about it which is absolutely awful bearing in mind her own kids and the fact she did work with children’s charities etc) that still doesn’t explain why she hadn’t introduced Harry to her father and wider family when they started seeing each other in 2016, two years before she supposedly found out.

my thoughts are she didn’t want her family telling PH some home truths about her, and I do now wonder if she is telling the truth about knowing since 2018 or using it as a further excuse for no contact.

If she did know since 2018 not saying anything is unforgivable

From the article:
"It is understood the force has not investigated Markle in the past or currently."

So, how credible were the allegations in the letter if they did not lead to an investigation? And why would somebody with allegations against Thomas Markle, an American citizen residing in the United States, send a letter to the Metropolitan Police of London? What does it have to do with the Met?

I do think there is a small amount of retro fitting the story to excuse the fact she never introduced Harry to her father, even before she heard about the accusing. I do believe that she was told and I do believe that this is why she didn't introduce her children to her father.

But, as many other posters have said, this sort of situation really really needs excellent and experienced PR. Unfortunately the Sussexes won't take advice and hence the clear but rather extensive statement which is muddying clear waters.

AutumnCrowOfTheChillWind · 23/10/2026 18:40

how does the Dear Daddy letter fit with her explanation for going no contact?

I imagine a lot of journalists from the Mail are now going back through the details of that court case - that’s the one where she had to apologise to the court for being, erm, a bit misleading.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-59242093

She’s in a whole heap of trouble now concerning her relationship with the truth.

HaM really don’t respect HM Courts in the UK, do they? They treat them like a playground.

I wrote this on another thread but I’d like to repost it here:

The thing with Meghan (and Harry) is that they’re both so bloody reactive. They’re so desperate to control the narrative that they don’t stop to consider the long term consequences of what they say or how their wording might come back to bite them.

This situation has very little to do with Meghan beyond the unfortunate fact that Thomas Markle is her father. Ideally, she should have stayed quiet or simply said, “This is a private family matter. Thomas Markle is a private citizen, and I am no longer in contact with him. I will not be commenting further.”

Instead, she’s opened herself up to questions that might otherwise never have been asked. If she knew about these allegations in 2018, why hasn’t she spoken before? Could she have assisted the investigation? Did she pass any information to the US or Philippine police? And how does the Dear Daddy letter fit with her explanation for going no contact?

The irony is that she may feel unable to stay silent because she’s previously said that “complacency is complicity”. And because she and Harry clap back at every perceived slight, people have come to expect a response. When they suddenly say nothing about something significant, that silence itself becomes a story. This is why the royals’ “never complain, never explain” approach can be effective. You can’t challenge every criticism and insist on having the last word without creating expectations you may later regret.

At the end of the day, Meghan is not her father’s keeper. She could have maintained her distance, allowed the investigation to unfold and remained confident in her decision to go no contact without making herself part of the story. What happens if Thomas is found not guilty, the allegations prove unfounded, or Thomas Jnr is shown to have misrepresented things? These are possibilities annd illustrate the risks of getting involved before the facts are established.

Sometimes, in trying so hard to control the narrative, you end up giving people even more reasons to scrutinise you.

I get the impression the pair of them do very little all day but check online constantly for mentions of their own activities. I think they are totally blinkered to anything or anyone other than themselves and their own interests. So if something is mentioned that involves them they are immediately all fired up and ready to shoot. They don't draw breath, consider the consequences or weigh up the options, just react defensively.

I don't believe even the Sussexes would create a letter in these circumstances.

If I'm wrong I'm wrong but I prefer at this stage to believe the basic facts we are being presented with.

I’m afraid Mrsleon that I firmly believe that Meghan is fully capable of inventing a letter !
she has invented so many things and lied so many times I no longer can proffer the benefit of the doubt!

What would you expect her to do or say, in fairness?

I don't like Meghan, and am sceptical about her statement, but I don't really see how she could or should have done anything about these allegations. Especially as clearly Markle has not been charged with any crime.
