Was the Dear Daddy letter written before or after she was made aware of the allegations against her father? If after, her behaviour is questionable at the least.

threetrainers · 23/10/2026 14:04

@Noodledog stop telling posters to fuck off and accusing them of not caring about abused children. You are the one saying Meghan should have done more to stop the abuse. People have just asked for examples. No need to run off just because you can’t argue your point.

Yep, I've always seen it as a coverted combo of racism and misoginy. Besides giving her diamond studded middle finger to a very British institution and not feeling one once bad about it I don't understand what else she's done to turn her into public enemy number one in the UK. This woman really came from nothing and has really done well for herself which is something I applaud frankly, it does seem bother the English a lot. I guess people here are pissed because she should have "known her place" and dedicate her life to being pretty and smiling (like Catherine?), become some sort of tragic figure like her deceased mother in law but instead she decided to take control of her own narrative, how dare she?!

What’s Catherine got to do with it?

Nowhere to be seen on the Andrew threads saying the same about the RF...strange that its only when its meghan you have so much to say about it.

Correct.

She could have alluded to the CSA allegations in her Oprah interview. In the way she alluded to the racism allegations, without actual proof.

Instead, she very clearly stated she cut her father off because of collusion with the tabloids.

She easily could have found a way to get this info out. She not only chose not to, she chose instead to put out an ‘alternative narrative’ that it’s because of his involvement with the wedding media circus, which obscured what she now maintains, was the actual reason why she cut him off.

Edited

How could she mention the CSA allegations if she she didn't know? Do you blame adult children for their parents sins when they have no idea they were committed?

Children abuse thrive on secrecy. The men involved take extraordinary steps to stop their shameful behaviour being known to anyone in their family, social circle and society at large. They know it can ostracise and land them in jail.

How on earth can a woman be responsible for her father's actions if she doesn't know about them?

WFT is Meghan being made responsible for the sins of her father?

gratefulmezze · 23/10/2026 14:11

I am not a fan of Meghan - but this has absolutely nothing to do with her, she hasn't even been in contact with him for years.
I don't even think she needed to issue a statement.

She did know! She states she was made aware in 2018 and cut him off. Literally she says it in her statement released today.

The Oprah interview was 2021! Three years later

Of course there's still a question over whether she received anything from the Met about allegations against here father, at all. We only have her word for that right now. And well..

I agree.

I’m going to keep saying. Not only did she put out this (seemingly) false or half-truth narrative about why she fell out with her father, but she monetised it. Monetised it in her Netflix documentary for which she was reportedly paid tens of millions. Tens of millions earned based on silence on abuse - which Meghan herself has said amounts to complicity. When she left the RF, she had a massive platform and a massive and receptive audience at the time for her truth: she could have told it like it actually was and would have had massive amounts of sympathy and understanding. There’s no reason whatsoever for her to have remained coy about the truth once she decided she was going to speak out about her relationship with her father. She is the one who has fed the public the false narrative. She’s not responsible for her father’s actions, but she sure as hell is responsible for her own, which is feeding a false narrative to the public and making money in doing so, when she could have simply refused to comment at all on a family matter.

I agree, but I was countering the tired myth that even KM's family is so much 'naicer' than MM's.

Of course they are, by any calculation.

C’s close family have been models of discretion. If there have been family issues theyve kept them in the family and not slagged each other off on SM for money.

I know who I’d rather have as neighbours, thanks.

The Markles have been a trashy nightmare from the beginning.

threetrainers · 23/10/2026 14:13

If a letter was sent to the Met police royal protection team then the RF would know about it too.

She has made a career out of blabbing about everyone else. They do not have a filter.

If whatever was alleged in the mysterious 2018 letter had been investigated and proven I'm pretty sure she'd have included that in her many 'our truth' shows.

Why now?

Why is everyone lapping up everything the deranged son has now said.

If her Dad is guilty charge him and lock him up or whatever. I just think some people including the sussexes are being a little bit premature

They have. Dreadful people. MM did well to distance herself from them. But, we know that a stick used to beat her with.

Wasn’t Garry done for beating his wife in public? I wouldn’t say that’s super discreet but we can agree to disagree.

She is not responsible for her father’s actions. Her father alone is responsible just as she is responsible for her own actions. The two are independent of the other. . However what is odd to me that during the many attacks from both Harry and Megan on the RF after that date she did not mention one single word about her father’s supposed crimes. Surely we can all agree they are so heinous why not openly confront them? Attacking one side of a family when the other side is beyond awful is bizarre in the extreme and it does beg the question people on glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.

I did say C''s close family.

I think we all have more distant relations who don't necessarily reflect our values and codes of conduct.

Bit presumptuous of an American to decide to show a middle finger to another country's head of state and major national institution.

Even more daft that she keeps underlining that she has been given the title of duchess by that institution and her husband keeps saying "I'm a prince!" Seems like she showed a middle finger to herself.

Unfortunately for Meghan she has a reputation for lying, even to a court of law.

This is not going to help her at the moment.

RedTagAlan · 23/10/2026 14:21

threetrainers · 23/10/2026 13:57

@RedTagAlan how quickly the narrative has switched to blaming Meghan for facilitating child abuse.

I am not seeing anyone directly stating she facilitated it. What I am seeing is posters saying she was aware of the accusations in 2018, Quote from her statement :

'I hope it can now be understood that, despite certain media publications' distortion over the years, any distance from my father and my choice to not allow him to have contact with our children, was for one reason: to protect them."

That is, she is now saying she possibly considered him a danger to her children, but she made no mention or hint of this while he moved locations, perhaps she should have spoken up.

But we do not know what the 2018 investigation found. So speculation galore really. I would not call it embarrassing to MN. Everyone has the same info. Just reading it and interpreting it differently.

Personally, if I thought my father was a pedophile, and a danger to my child, and said father then moved to the Philippines, I would be down the cop shop talking to someone to ask if there is an Interpol watch list he should be put on. To warn the Philippines authorities and all that.

And if said father had a stroke and an amputation in the Philippines, given that I did not allow him to contact to my kids because I consider him a danger, I would not be publicizing me trying to get a letter to him via consular services.

Can you see how the same info can be looked at differently ? And it's important to note that it is partial info, with insinuations.

She has set herself in deep water.

For 8 years she maintained a narrative that obscured the truth; that she believed her father to be a danger to children. There really ain’t an excuse for that.

Yes we know she's been no contact.

Thing is they said it was because of Thomas Markle's media blabbing <ironically> and weird photo shoot.

The 'letter' was in 2018. They had plenty of time to tell the actual truth if it was indeed proven and true not just a malicious letter.

LipglossAndLies · 23/10/2026 14:07

Very true. The whole of the royal family has been covering up Andrew's wrong doings for years and years. Didn't the beloved Queen Elizabeth pay off a victim on Andrew's behalf? Our current king and future King have kept quiet for years and never once put Andrew's victims first. Why are they not getting the same treatment for protecting and enabling Andrew?

feellikeanalien · 23/10/2026 14:26

The whole thing is grim. The father and the brother both came across as pretty unsavoury even before this all came out.

The letter in 2018 seems strange. Do the police normally share allegations against someone with their family members if there is no immediate threat to them? Is Meghan saying that she was shown a letter saying that her father was suspected of downloading child abuse images? If this is what happened then I don't blame her for cutting her father off but then why would she later send the letter to her father that she ended up taking legal action over ?

As to what she should have done, it wasn't up to her. If she had been made aware that the authorities knew about these allegations then any action would have been taken by them and if nothing happened maybe she presumed it was because there was no evidence.

I am no Meghan fan but this must be horrible for her. Before her relationship with Harry she did appear to have a good relationship with her Dad but, as other PPs have said, you never know what really goes on.

It really is a mess but, if it is true, then Meghan bears absolutely no responsibility for her father's actions.

LadyWiddiothethird · 23/10/2026 14:28

No idea why she felt the need to issue a statement! Such an inflated ego.She can’t help herself, she will never realise how unimportant she is.
