Wow, we got through the last thread pretty quickly! (Again!)

So Betsy is still recovering from her stroke, Debbie's condition (dementia) is getting worse.

Tim and Sally still have Tim's cousin Ross's daughter Lucy in their care as Ross killed his wife - Lucy's mother, and is in prison... Or so we have been lead to believe. There's a question mark over whether Ross did kill Lucy's mum at the moment, (or if it was Lucy!) after Lucy spoke to her dad the other night and said 'what if they found out what I did!' Sally is struggling with Lucy, especially after she threw her phone at Sally and hit her in the face.

Sarah is still in prison, (for killing Theo,) and hasn't had her trial yet. She has finished with Kit, who went on to sleep with her daughter Bethany!

Bernie's aunt (Celeste) who was trying to get Todd to do a funeral for her, died a few weeks ago, but not before dropping the bombshell that she has breast cancer, and Bernie may have the gene. So may Gemma and the quads, and Kit, and Brody...

Kit was tested. He has breast cancer. He is devastated - (naturally.)

Carl has just got a job in the cab office.

Probably missed some stuff!

I mentioned this in the last thread, but I can't remember if Todd did ever do Celeste's funeral by the way... She's been dead nearly 4 weeks now. I don't think they've mentioned her funeral for about 3 weeks. And I definitely don't remember them doing it.......

Focusing on being able to cut up her own food before operating machinery would be a smart move

I also thought it was strange they were so keen on her jetting off to a fashion course when she still requires so much care, seems a strange storyline and would've made more sense if she'd actually been the one driving the decision to go

Clawdy · 03/10/2026 15:53

Yes, Betsy would need a carer with her, it would be very difficult. They should definitely leave it a year.

And then, after a gap-year to get fit again, instead of local college, she should go to study in the far more prestigious London fashion college!
(where she has already been offered a placement!)

eggandonion · 03/10/2026 16:36

Is the local college where the extremely talented Nina studied? Could Lauren not be Betty's minder and have fun student stories?

JewelleryCat · 03/10/2026 12:09

Oh no, it’s true. It was on Digital Spy a few days ago

Oh FFS! Hmm

It was just daft wasn't it?

Then again, not much dafter than Bethany having a stoma, and wearing skinny jeans and tight trousers with low waists!

They forgot all about Nina's college, not sure if it was ever mentioned if she finished or not.

Although she did do designs for the factory

It is a shame that she came in as a young woman who had interests in art, fashion and music but they never developed that side of character.

eggandonion · 03/10/2026 20:55

Nina lost her talent when Srb was murdered. No young women are allowed to become successful. They all have to have trauma and illness.
Luckily the severe illness vanishes...strokes, brain injuries, diabetes, stoma, mental health issues ...and was Amy lactose intolerant?
Lucy and Joanie must have chronic illness ahead of them.

The lads have their fair share too

Sam seems to becoming like his cousin Max.

Every time he got into trouble his parents blamed the ADHD and anyone else who questioned their judgement then repeated " he's a good kid really" to each other like healing mantra.

It is the same with Sam and his schizophrenia.

Nick really is a terrible dad. He just seems to take a back seat and lets the step mum sisters hover over his son battling for supremacy. Leanne screeching at everyone and Toyah putting on her empathetic "I'm a counsellor, I know about these things" face.

I love Toyah's expressions, particularly her shocked face. 😳

zanahoria · 04/10/2026 11:45

Both the step mum sisters are good actresses and entertaining, just not sure it makes the best parenting for Sam.

Lsquiggles · 04/10/2026 12:35

I do hope Nick grows a personality soon he always has the same 'deer in the headlight' expression

eggandonion · 04/10/2026 12:43

Poor Sam. Grew up with no father then his mum was murdered. Gail left the whole Platt family to live in a gite with the man from Cold Feet. Audrey has vanished. Sarah in prison. Harry and Arper need attention.
Sm really didn't need two big storylines at once. The crypto one is great though!

the80sweregreat · 04/10/2026 12:56

I just watched Fridays one.
I thought that Sally was a bit harsh on Christina.

JewelleryCat · 04/10/2026 13:12

@eggandonion gosh, what did you say?

eggandonion · 04/10/2026 13:43

I have no idea...musing about Sam having a hard life to date...and the financial story line has possibilities.

the80sweregreat · 04/10/2026 13:48

Idris seems happy the restaurant will have financial woes didn’t he!

Justpolly · 04/10/2026 14:08

@eggandonion did you by any chance mention the cr1pto storyline? One of my posts got suspended (I have never had it happen before!) and that was the. only word I could think might have triggered it.

I was pleasantly surprised how animated he was in the podcast thingy with David and R Craigy, whose a bit more life about him persona also surprised me. Both of their characters in Corrie feel/felt rather flattened compared to the RL people. It would be interesting to know if it's the writing, the acting or the directing.

I agree he's really likeable in real life and it would be good to see that come through in his character, although Nick would need to finally catch a break first 😂

I agree. I said this further back in the thread, that Sally was harsh. And whilst Sally does have Lucy in her care, she can't actually physically stop Christina from seeing Lucy.

If you mentioned cr1pto, that would have resulted in the post being hidden I think.

the80sweregreat · 04/10/2026 15:38

Oh sorry sabrel! I haven’t read that far back and only caught up with Fridays one today! I’m glad you agree Sally was a bit hard on Christina. Sally can be a bit blunt at times and sanctimonious with people at times and condescending ( you can tell I’m not a fan of hers!)
I know it’s a weird time for them all, but she showed hardly any empathy for such an awkward situation and was almost put out that the one who had died was her long lost daughter.

eggandonion · 04/10/2026 15:59

Yes I think there's now a currency that must not be mentioned. Although if you stick it in a search old discussions are available!
I think it is a good idea to get Sam mixed up in it. But not at the same time as having another major storyline.

the80sweregreat · 04/10/2026 15:59

Also feel sorry for Shona’s dad too ( can’t recall his name ) because Jodie is gaslighting him now , tampered with his meds and generally being the daughter from hell. Not to mention what she’s doing to Shona too.
