Why so much hate on MN?

I wondered why The Guardian would go with that story when I saw an alert. Read it and saw the rich areas line was why.

As Pip isn’t means tested selling in a review and cash changes will impact everyone regardless of income.

It’s an own goal in that way but the rich areas / people line is too attractive. It’ll help Burnham too as Labour MPs could oppose.

It would be completely counterproductive and very expensive to means test PIP, so I don't think that will happen. Although possibly an income ceiling could be applied.

Services instead of cash is pie in the sky if the services don't exist. Osborne tried something similar and was shot down in flames by his own party.

Posters were discussing generally how MN is moderated / free speech/ arguing and you came along and plopped in something about benefit claimants as if the OP was asking 'what groups do you hate and why?' as if you thought you should be able to justify yourself.

Posters hiding behind complaints about the government, presenting themselves as reasonable actors, to push hate about asylum seekers, people with disabilities, benefit claimants..Mostly the same names all day everyday.
I am told to report - MN just not interested.

Why isn't moderation better?
I know this will always exist and exists on other platforms but MN makes no effort to even try to anything about it.
You can't really sell MN as a caring, supportive site with all this stuff offered on a daily basis in active.

Using private healthcare doesn't take pressure off the NHS. That is a myth.

The conversation was about making one's own appointments, not Choose and Book.

If you are seeing a consultant in a private clinic he or she usually also works for the NHS. Most prioritise their more lucrative work . They can't be in two places at once.

Exactly. My cataract surgery was done at the end of my surgeon’s shift in the same theatre.as the NHS patients he’d operated in all day. It didn’t take any pressure off the NHS. I guess it benefited from the fee he paid them for theatre use.

Most consultants I see work privately in the evening.

I’m not taking away time for their NHS work and I pay for it.

When NHS hospitals outsource surgery then they do during working hours and they pay for it.

Well, if everyone followed your logic, there would be no more MN, would there?

We went private in order to get DD1 and epilepsy diagnosis, it was just too long a wait on the NHS! Now she’s on medication, we’re back with the NHS.
