Why are you allowing people to troll the Sex Board?

There's been a lot of threads in the last couple of weeks regarding the sex board, especially the fact it now appears in Active, and HQ seem very adept at ignoring and skirting round the issue. Definitely feels like they're trying to appeal to a different demographic. I have no problem with the board itself but I really don't feel there's any need for it in Active. People will find it if they want to.

This is probably a call to me to deactivate. I am really unhappy with this.

So MN's decision means users see references to rimming, fleshlights and anal popping up and if they don't like it, a bloke calls them prudish. It makes the site lose its USP rather, doesn't it? As in, everywhere on the internet (/world) is full of sleazy men insulting women who object and this used to be a respite from that. But now they want to partner with sex shops and sell vibrators so never mind.

I don't use the app. I was being facetious. Not everybody has a computer (I don't, only a phone) and if you're an app user, you may have already had the indignity of flesh lights, rimming and WankingMartin before breakfast. Insert something about horses and stable doors here. Mumsnet was conceived to make parents' lives easier. Right now, it isn't. The solution lies with MNHQ.

And actually @Theos - if you have a look at the sex chat thread - you'll see that an awful lot of the posters there are middle aged men. So not sexist or ageist at all.

I opened Mumsnet in safari using the following address then went into settings to hide it.

www.mumsnet.com

For those using the app you can't presently hide topics from there but if you open the browser on the device your using and log in to MN.

Click on the blue head > settings > more settings > talk settings.

Scroll to the bottom of the page to hide topics.

Chosen topics will now be hidden when you return to the app.

I know you shouldn't have to and MNHQ have messed up badly but that's how to do it.

JFC @ArcticSkewer as you're so superior, why not explain specifically how that might be achieved, instead of being so sarky? It's not always obvious to people how to do things.

Why not just .... use your phone ... the thing your app is presumably also on, seeing as you don't own a computer/pc/laptop

The only sensible reason for not having it in active is so that kids and colleagues don't see the rather racy thread titles. I think some posters are being extremely rude by trolling the posts right now. I find the sex topic quite interesting even though I don't find actual sex remotely interesting these days.
