A few more for the snagging list

MN team, I can see you are hard at work fixing glitches as a lot of the problems from yesterday seem to be improving (I no longer have the black box over my PMs, or the empty lines at the top of each page, for instance). Thank you for your hard work!

A few that still appear for me, for your reference:

  • On all platforms, Trending and Active are still not working properly, full of zombie threads and not updating
  • On Chrome on my laptop, I have tried to post this thread multiple times and got a “checking your browser, captcha” box pop up on the screen and then a 403 error box over the whole screen and have lost this post multiple times…
  • On Chrome on my laptop, some long links are not wrapping in posts and extend out to the right beyond the edge of the post (see for instance post by @ButtonMoonLoon on this thread: www.mumsnet.com/talk/site_stuff/4534587-was-anyone-on-here-a-tester-for-this-awful-new-site
  • On Chrome on my laptop, when you flip a thread, it leaves the OP at the top (this doesn't happen on the iOS app, where the most recent post is at the top)
  • On the iOS app, when you filter by OP and then click the link to go to one of their posts it always takes you to their first post, even if you're selecting one from later down the thread
  • On the iOS app, old threads have a lot of html showing around where emojis used to be, and line breaks are showing as <br>
  • On the iOS app, the apple emojis are the right size but the MN emojis are squashed, they’re the right width but about 2/3 the hight they should be
  • On the iOS app, posts that have a quote in them are all run together between the quote and the first paragraph of the post. I think a line break is missing between the quoted part and where the post starts. Hope that helps! I'll add to this snagging list as I come across stuff. And also let you know if they're fixed!

Hi @SunshineCake have you been able to do the following? Does this get rid of the consent box constantly appearing?

iPhone & iPad
Navigate to your settings
Click on ‘Safari’
Scroll to the bottom and choose ‘Advanced’
Click on ‘Website Data’
Type ‘Mumsnet' into the search box
Swipe left on ‘Mumsnet’ and choose ‘Delete’
Macs
Open your Safari preferences
Click ‘Privacy’
Click ‘Manage Website Data’
Type ‘Mumsnet' into the search box
Click on ‘Mumsnet.com’ and choose ‘Remove’
Click ‘Done'

hi @saraclara sorry you're having this issue - we've just tried to recreate it here and the scroll bar works fine for us when we zoom. Can I ask which device and browser you're using? And can you share an example of a URL that the scroll bar is disappearing on for you?

Thanks sue. It's a Lenovo ideapad 710s, using chrome.
I've just zoomed again and at the moment I still have the scroll bar. But it's been an intermittent problem for the last few days. I'll keep it zoomed, then when it happens again I'll send you the url.

Has anybody mentioned 'Search' yet? What's with the slider for dates? I'm used to using these double-ended sliders for car prices & ages, but I couldn't make this one make sense in terms of the dates it was using or the order of the resulting posts. All I wanted was to see the most recent thread on a topic, & that seemed impossible. It used to be possible. I get the impression that MN have added lots of whizzy choice to the search facility, which results in it being less useful than it was before.

I was just looking at the thread in FWR on Girl Guiding, and towards the end somebody used italics in a post. From that point every single bit of text in the thread showed in italics for me. Laptop, Chrome, web version of MN.

I think the new search option means it is no longer possible to search out old posts.

Bookmarks not working and the colour counter goes white as though there's a new message when there isn't on 'threads I'm on'.

I can't add more than one picture and then it says it's not posting "retry" but then it actually had so posted a million times 😂it's making things so frustrating

My husbands a dev and if something like this happened at his company there would be hell to pay quite frankly

Using the iPhone app and had a problem that 'new' bookmarks didn't work. It was taking me back to the previous bookmark. I discovered if I click the purple bookmark (previous one) it removes it and I can then create a new bookmark where I need it.

Thought I was going mad and not bookmarking properly 🤣

On Active, if I read a thread and then press back, instead of going back to the title page I came from, it updates every time. So if I go back intending to read a particular thread it's gone.

This is still happening for me on Safari (iPhone).

@ifIwerenotanandroid I had the same thing with colours - I had to go into settings and change it back to the colour I had before (lilac).

Haven't RTFT but on Chromebook & site rather than app, using Notifications to go to a thread always puts me at the start of the thread. It used to take me to the last post I'd looked at, which was much more useful.
