Yetanother that made me snort, and now I feel a bastard for laughing at a joke about transpeople! GrinBlush

ToeToToe · 17/06/2018 00:20

And that post just took two clicks to post - fuck me, I thought I'd been banned for a minute there, whilst out on a family do - but thankfully I was just in a bit of a dodgy internet-connection part of the house.

But fuck me (again) it's all a bit bloody Stalin, this, eh?

ToeToToe · 17/06/2018 00:18

Miranda - I cannot believe your post was deleted. I didn't read what it said, I haven't even caught up with the whole thread since yesterday. But I cannot believe Miranda Yardley, a transexual's, thread was deleted under these new moderation guidelines. FFS.

mirandayardley · 16/06/2018 23:38

Thank be often said that most transgenderists transition to humourless... I rue the lack of humour.

yetanothertranswoman · 16/06/2018 23:37

better not tell one on here, you'll get yourself modded

How many trans people does it take to change a lightbulb?

One - but they need 2 separate opinions to prove it needs changing.

(I am sure that people can adapt that for self ID) Grin

BoreOfWhabylon · 16/06/2018 23:32

Gawd yet, better not tell one on here, you'll get yourself modded!

yetanothertranswoman · 16/06/2018 23:30

Humour is not something I've encountered often among trans id'd people

We are people just like everyone else. Even I can tell a joke about being trans at times. Grin

JoanSummers · 16/06/2018 23:21

That is a very funny fact. Not mocking them, it's just unexpected. Humour is not something I've encountered often among trans id'd people.

Ex-Bob. Grin

Popchyk · 16/06/2018 23:03

I came across it in the Pink News a while back.

I suspect the mods came up with what they thought was a compromise among themselves. Ban cis and TERF as well as TIF and TIM.
That is not what had been discussed with members.
Tranny and TERF used as accusations were the requested bans.
Today the transgender advocates are feeling free to call us transphobic because they do not think the personal attack rules apply to them or to calling women derogatory names.

We are all a bit confused.
My strike was with regard to the number of AGPs.
A self identified AGP is currently arguing that no true trans would send bomb threats to WP_UK so I suspect i will use up my two remaining lives there.

yetanothertranswoman · 16/06/2018 23:00

It’s all true

Not something I've ever heard of.

yetanothertranswoman · 16/06/2018 22:59

Is that really true Miranda

Never heard that before. I sometimes talk about my old life.

Popchyk · 16/06/2018 22:59

I'd be happy with ex-Bob.

Has a bit of a ring to it. And proposed by a real life transgender person so no danger of it being transphobic.

Ta.

Is there a term that female transgender people use to refer to their 'female self'?

mirandayardley · 16/06/2018 22:58

It’s all true!

JoanSummers · 16/06/2018 22:54

Is that really true Miranda? That is very funny if so.

mirandayardley · 16/06/2018 22:50

Apropos of a collective term for ‘trans women’ that doesn’t reference sex, how about this: trans males refer to their ‘male self’ as ‘Bob’, so:

‘Ex-Bob’

Eg ‘the new women’s officer is another ex-Bob, whatever next.’

I've just watched all three ad breaks in a recorded programme.

Sending comfort to you Weezol, you know you've lost the plot when you're doing this!

I am another one screenshotting my own posts so I can be sure what I've said and can refer back to it. This is a very silly position to be in.

Thebewilderness - good summary of the situation and I agree this is opening the door to all manner of TRA shenanigans.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 16/06/2018 21:53

weezol

Oooh same here

I take screenshots now

I used to take pictures of recipes and kittens

And now its my own inane ramblings!!

MipMipMip · 16/06/2018 21:53

TRA (or tea as I autocorrect to - it knows me) is fine. I had an email confirming it. MNHQ agree that it is good to differentiate between the people pushing these things through and the old school type.

It also said that mentioning AGP is fine but not things saying the majority of trans suffer (would suffer be the right word when it seems to be enjoyed?!) from it. Although according to some stats I've seen (up to 80%) do. So that one is tricky ground.

I've asked if I can post the email here. I don't want to do so without permission as it was sent privately but I would be surprised if they said no.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 16/06/2018 21:51

MNHQ wants the Mumsnet members who post on FWR to signal submission to the transgender advocates by no longer using the terms that transgender people use to talk about themselves. Specifically "idenetify" appears to be banned and any terms that indicate the sex of a person

I still don't understand :(. (Thanks anyway) We can't say "identifies as a sex" or "is" a sex? We have to be ompletely abstract?

Can offensive terms like cis and Terf still be used?

Weezol · 16/06/2018 21:47

Well, if nothing else the confusion has finally driven me to learn how to take a screen shot on the device I've had for two years.

I'm feeling old. I remember moving from key commands to mouses.

That's good Maryz. Unfortunately my ipad is screwing up my C&P function again (only on Mumsnet though!) so I can't nick it from you.

thebewilderness · 16/06/2018 21:24

Would someone mind summarising what the HQ position actually is?

MNHQ wants the Mumsnet members who post on FWR to signal submission to the transgender advocates by no longer using the terms that transgender people use to talk about themselves. Specifically "idenetify" appears to be banned and any terms that indicate the sex of a person.
This seems to apply only to what they call "trans threads", which I take to mean the many threads that the MRAs and transgender advocates post here to goad Feminists into saying something they can screencap and post to twitter to support their position that Mumsnet is transphobic and should be shut down.
I think we are seeing the thin edge of the wedge because it is the "breeders" that transgender advocates seem to hate the most. I expect once HQ accedes to these damands the next thing on the agenda is women shutting up about breastfeeding or giving birth.
