I think there's plenty of people out there who see them as two cheeks of the same arse.

Yes personally I think they are both guilty of racism - far left and far right.

Far left just more annoying because of their "holier than thou" attitude (misguided).

There's a certain crushing inevitability about it. Two groups of people who like a good bit of extremism, always wind up in purity spirals and who handle their opponents absolutely brutally.

I would be fun to watch if it wasn't so bloody dangerous.

EdithStourton · 19/10/2026 13:32

I've just read that David Collier article linked above, and am sharing it again as it very much worth your while:
https://david-collier.com/inside-occupied-territory-at-the-green-party-conference/
He provides evidence of people in favour of the motion also being in favour of violence and of the Iranian regime.

He's also clear about the use of token Jews, who stand either outside or on the outskirts of their community, as a fig-leaf for antisemitism.

I also read his 'about' page, where he says, of his journey to becoming an investigative journalist:
'but I started to double-check everything – even the points being made by those I agree with.'
Oooh David... I've done the same. Follow where the evidence, rather than ideology, takes you. Read your own side critically, as well as drilling into the opposition. Check quotes to source. Make sure that academic paper really says what the person promulgating its results claims it says. If it says it in the conclusions, check that the text supports those conclusions wholeheartedly (don't expect the peer reviewers to do it, as some of them are useless). If you're in the archive anyway, check that file... You'd be appalled at what bullshit makes its way into print.

It's a sure-fire way to make yourself unpopular, especially if you describe your findings to the ideologically motivated.

Inside the Green Party conference: a firsthand account of the “Zionism is Racism” motion, and the occupation of the party by pro-Palestinian extremists.

Polanski repeated the claim about the Holocaust survivor being one of the people who wrote the proposal, but all I can find is a Holocaust survivor ( who must have been a young child at the time) approving of the policy. So another ' Good Jew'

An anti-Israel activist has been identified as the man accused of deliberately driving a Toyota LandCruiser into federal MP Helen Haines in a shocking attack outside her electorate office in regional Victoria, Australia that has caused the politician to lose her leg and surgeons race to save her second leg.

Brendan Nugent, 43, was arrested at the scene in Wangaratta on Monday afternoon and taken into custody after Haines, 65, suffered severe lower-body injuries when she was struck by his vehicle multiple times.

These types of 'eco warrior anti Israel' fuckwitts are getting way to dangerous to be walking amongst us

I can see a certain irony in 'western' people caught up in a narrative of decolonisation without realising they have been colonised by the keffiyeh.
I know that you take peoples power away by turning them into a joke, hence the feminist phrase ' men are afraid women will laugh at them, women are afraid men will kill them '. There are interesting parallels to be drawn wrt current belief systems.

LizzieW1969 · 20/10/2026 10:38

Let’s not assume this attack is politically motivated. According to the latest news, the MP is a longstanding family friend and the attacker has had long-term mental health issues.

It isn't straightforward at all, even if he is an anti-Israel activist, which I'm not questioning.

noblegiraffe · 20/10/2026 10:39

Ed Davey has also announced that Lib Dems won’t work with Green Councillors in power sharing arrangements unless they agree to fight for the reversal of this motion.

Instant response is of course that he is paid by Israel.

Good on him. Makes the LibDems a more appealing new home for Green members who don’t agree with this policy.

The majority seem to have diagnosed or undiagnosed mental health conditions so that has become something that we expect at this point. I mean rational sane people don't get so obsessed with an issue or in the case of some go as far as violent attack

Agree it’s not a normal response to use violence as some kind of solution.

My point was that it might be more complicated, with there being a longstanding family connection. It might be more personal than political.

It's a horrific incident whatever the motivation.

LuckyHazelFox · 20/10/2026 12:45

Ed Davey has got a pair of balls, after all. I wondered where he'd been hiding them.

Good luck with him supporting Labour in a coalition.

The government has cut funding to many LibDem ran councils.

How is he going to sell that to the constituents?

So awful. Sounds similar to Ann Widdecombe’s male perpetrator.

Such a very valid and extremely well put point. Exactly what is happening. Thank you. 👏

Agree it’s not a normal response to use violence as some kind of solution.

The Marchers for Palestine went very quickly from 'Of course Hamas are terrorists and they are terrible too' to ' Hamas are freedom fighters' so I do wonder whether radical Islamists possibly from Iran have made this 'violence is justified if it's for a higher purpose' in their opinion, much more acceptable to the usual middle class 'trust fund babies' of the Hard Left. The French riots are also suspected to be far Left as well as the suspected murder of Anne Widdecombe.

Yes, I especially in areas where there are already LibDem and Green councillors. Starmer's leadership was far more Green - Burnham is taking Labour away from the real environmental concerns. Note: one of Burnham's first announcements was taking away grants for renewables and now - drill, baby, drill.

Both the Lib Dems and Labour have been quick to distance themselves from this awful new Green policy.

Agree that Burnham seems to be moving the Labour party away from environmental concerns.

Agree that Burnham is being pragmatic.

I don't necessarily criticise him for that. But I wouldn't be happy if I was a traditional Green voter at recent actions by our new PM.

Personally I see the Lib Dem party as a better match for those whose primary concern is the environment, if they feel the need to leave the Green Party.

Terrifying. Singling out a Jewish reporter, selling 'The Invention of the Jewish People'. The Green Party is a total disgrace.
