I know I sound extremely infantile, but this news has cheered me up no end...

Not 'infantile' at all! We live in a world where crooks often get away with it, especially in politics in recent years. If we want voters, especially young voters, to be energised & motivated to vote its really important that the law, and standards are rigorously applied. I hope Reform do not recover from this.

'No illegal transaction occurred' and top aides were 'entrapped': Farage breaks silence on Reform UK foreign funding sting
www.lbc.co.uk/article/illegal-transaction-farage-foreign-funding-reform-5Hjdgxq_2/

In that link you posted. This line

Farage said: "This is a massive sting operation. It must have cost them hundreds of thousands of pounds, all foreign funded, by the way. We talk about foreign money interfering in British politics. Well, that's exactly what this was in every way. And they worked at it and worked at it. And they managed to get a couple of our contractors to say things that look, on the face of it, injudicious"

It's the foriners. It's alway the foriners. If in doubt, and point at any foriner and yell " ITS THEM".

RedTagAlan · 04/09/2026 09:34

Reminds me of Jack Straw and the sting that caught him. He was on his way out anyway, and I recall he was declared innocent of wrong doing ( my arse, I remember the vid).

But it ended his politics I remember. Yes he was on his way out anyway, but he never got any pundit gigs or the like. Just sort of vanished.

RedTagAlan · 04/09/2026 09:44

Farage is doing his usual defence.

Infamy, infamy! They've all got it in for me!

PerkingFaintly · 04/09/2026 09:49

"A couple of our contractors"?

Haha, nice try Nige.

There were three Reformers caught on camera up to their necks in this plan to receive foreign donations.

One was Dan Jukes, Farage's senior aide.
One was James Orr, Reform's Head of Policy.
And one was Nigel Farage.

Yes exactly.

He knows what he's doing. All this whining about how badly the "two contractors" have been treated...

It's deflection from the fact that he, Nigel Farage, is on camera agreeing to the scheme. And thanking the "donor" face-to-face.

Clavinova · 03/09/2026 21:19

He's been caught bang to rights

I wouldn't get too excited just yet;

In the film, Orr can be heard saying of the arrangement that Farage “doesn’t know, won’t know” and it was the kind of thing he would “rather not know”.

Isnt that Orr bloke supposed to be some kind of serious Christian who is always extremely vocal about everybody else's morals ,.......and he has a position at Cambridge University ? This is unbelievable. The hypocrisy. OMG .

Rosiecloud · 04/09/2026 10:05

It will be interesting to see if the press go after Cambridge Professor Orr as much as they did Professor Arday. My money is on probably not.

SomersetBrie · 04/09/2026 10:06

Portakalkedi · 03/09/2026 22:47

I would not describe myself as a supporter of Farage but clearly certain parts of the media really have it in for him and Reform, which smacks of fear at their popularity. They're ALL bent, look at Starmer et al with his free clothes, Rayner, now back in cabinet after tax evasion, all the dodgy expenses, all the same, only the amounts of ££ vary. I'd like to see the same treatment given to every one of them.

There is nothing left for Reform voters now other than to try saying "they are all the same".

Hopefully Reform will be properly investigated and definitely out of the picture for any future elections.

A party of toads ......that even people with no powers of discernment whatsoever will now surely have to condemn as a bunch of crooks and chancers. Get the wool out of your eyes Reformers !!

Shorter article:

The Curious Case of James Orr
21percent.org/?p=4327

An investigation by the Financial Times, published on 3 September 2026, sets out how Orr has combined his tenured Cambridge post with his Reform role. It also reports the outcome of a formal complaint made against him by one of his own PhD students. The particulars will interest anyone who has followed how Cambridge chooses which of its staff it disciplines, which it defends, and which it allows to make their own account of what has happened.

The piece goes on to detail how a complaint brought by a theology PhD student of academic negligence and bullying was partially upheld against Orr and the Divinity Faculty.

However although the university paid the student compensation and the Divinity chair of faculty, Professor Richard Rex, wrote a formal letter of apology on the faculty's behalf, Orr claimed not to even know about the outcome of the complaint never mind to have been subjected to any action.

The article compares this to the university's rather different handling of a number of other complaints.

It's instructive.

But even more instructive is this part (my bolding)

In 2024, Cambridge’s Faculty of Divinity admitted Dóra Szűcs to a PhD programme under Orr’s supervision. Szűcs is the former chief of staff to Balazs Orbán, director of Mathias Corvinus Collegium (MCC), Viktor Orbán’s flagship think tank in Hungary. She was also its former international director. She has no publicly recorded qualifications in divinity or the philosophy of religion.

Between 2022 and her application, Orr was speaking regularly at MCC events. During the same period, the Roger Scruton Legacy Foundation, of which Orr is a director, received £512,500 from MCC , almost all of its income. That foundation in turn funds the Cambridge Scrutonian Society, an invitation-only discussion group founded at Orr’s request. A grant application from the foundation to MCC states that the Scrutonian model is “intended to spread throughout the United Kingdom and Europe” and that the foundation would develop a “detailed plan to effectively influence British cultural institutions”.

Just seen further down a post about about the disgusting goings on at some Roger Scruton society at Cambridge University. ...connected to this dodgy Orr bloke....This needs to be fully exposed. Sounds like there were serious conspiracy like gpoings on deep behind closed doors. Worrying.

SmallDFartyCarNRG · 04/09/2026 10:54

Well it is about time he was treated like a real politician and all that.
When I was looking on this story on BBC let me know that over 8k people were also reading it at the same time.
Scrutiny times ahoy!

Why are you so insistent to claim this won’t impact him? He could end up in prison!

I want him gone! I just know his fan base is rock solid 😔 - theyre the same as trumps fan base, unless its made into a big deal by the right tabloids, they arent taking notice

BrandiedAromatics · 04/09/2026 11:16

Another dodgy commentator that is cosy with Orr: I’m picking up that conservatives who actually want to save the United Kingdom are turning to James for advice and direction.

Gives an inside view on this community of like-minded extremists

As always, he is saying that they have broken no laws. His usual response to any new disclosure. They are a very bad lot.
