Glad to hear it is coming to an end. But won't it be replaced by another placement? Sorry, don't want to depress you further, that is just the way my mind would work!

My parents are also about 2 hours away and dh's are a 22 hour flight away (he is from Australia!) although his mother comes over to England every summer (has her own house in London) and is far more willing to help out than my parents are.

Off to spend quality time with dh now. Thanks for the chat. Catch you again soon I hope.

alexsmum · 19/02/2005 20:20

yeah, he is on aplacement.he's doing a major project for a client who is based 3.5 hours away.he has a team of about 10 people working for him who don't seen to be able to get on with their work unless he is standing over them.
Anyway, the whole thing is coming to an end now which is why his days away have increased...trying to hit the deadline. Hopefully another few weeks and it will all be over. I've got my fingers crossed anyway.
My family all live about 2 hours away and dh's parents are an eight hour flight away!!! so I don't have a lot of support apart from local friends who let's face it, can only do so much.

Lonelymum · 19/02/2005 20:13

No rellies near enough. No friends full stop

Yes I suppose things are going to pick up. This has all happened in such a rush (dh sacked from job out of the blue mid Jan, got new job end of Jan, started last week, we move this week.) Far far too much to take in at the moment. Of course dh is right about me staying until Easter, but I can't do the at home on my own thing week after week. It is bad enough when he has single nights away for work.

Never did find out why your dh is away so much. Does his job involve travelling a lot or is he on a placement somewhere?

alexsmum · 19/02/2005 20:08

peak district very close to where we live, yes it's lovely. rugged.
we live in a nice little area actually with a good community, friendly people etc. ds1 has some nice little friends whose mums are my friends. it's good.

Have you any grandparents or rellys close by who could mind ds3 for the day at all? it seems a shame to miss out on the day together. still if you are going to be moving on wednesday , things are going to pick up very soon hopefully!

Lonelymum · 19/02/2005 20:03

Nice countryside round Manchester too though. Before dh and I married he lived in Chestefield and we used to go up on the hills in the Peak District a lot. Manchester borders that too doesn't it?

Lonelymum · 19/02/2005 20:02

No sorry the real problem is ds3 who starts screaming if he has to sit in his carseat for more than about an hour (or two hours if he sleeps at all).

alexsmum · 19/02/2005 20:02

Manchester. my in laws used to live in east sussex before they moved abroad. nice part of the country.

alexsmum · 19/02/2005 20:01

i think if i was you i would go even though the driving is a lot. you will be out and about and spending the majority of the day together, rather than sitting at home brooding. then you can make plans for the new house and it will be something exciting to think about. BUt that's just me!

Lonelymum · 19/02/2005 19:58

In West Sussex. Moving to Bristol this week! How about you?

Lonelymum · 19/02/2005 19:57

Well, we would have to go in 2 cars which is fine but means dh and I would have to do all that driving. He can cope but I find 6 hours driving a bit tiring.

Your day sounds more eventful that our entire year has been so far! I did suggest to dh I might go shopping as my only pair of jeans got ripped the other day but he pointed out he had just paid a months rent and a month and a half's rent as a deposit on our new home and he is not sure when his firm is going to reimburse him. So perhaps shopping wasn't a good idea!

marthamoo · 19/02/2005 19:57

Off to watch my programme on depression now...

Now if that don't kill the thread nothing will

alexsmum · 19/02/2005 19:55

whereabouts are you lm? north south?

alexsmum · 19/02/2005 19:53

oh lm, that sounds grim. i was going to say could you not all go to the new house and check it out, but i don't suppose you'd get much furniture moved with 6 of you in the car.

we went shopping this morning and i actually bought something for me for a change and dh and i took ds1 to the cinema to see magic roundabout while my parents minded the baby. and we went out for lunch. it was good.

Lonelymum · 19/02/2005 19:53

Well the current statistics are:

I am on 38 threads in last 72 hours
I have killed 8 of them, 6 today alone!

marthamoo · 19/02/2005 19:53

I'm on more than 39 threads - it'll only let me look at 39 And that's with 24 + hours of no internet

I guess that's one way of looking at it, alexsmum - or that I'm a saddo Norma No Mates with no home life who just can't stop posting on MN!

Lonelymum · 19/02/2005 19:50

Oh not the best. Dh is still kicking up a fuss because I want to live with him as soon as possible, ie this Wednesday. He wants me to wait until Easter. No chance! He packed our MPV with furniture today and was going to drive to our new home (3 hours away), unpack and drive back but I persuaded him to go tomorrow instead as I just couldn't face today without him. Also, becuase it was ds3's birthday. Not that we did anything special: just had a birthday tea.

So now, dh is goig to be away all tomorrow and may even stay there tomorrow night if snow is forecast. Otherwise, he will have to get up and leave home at about 5:30 am Monday morning which doesn't appeal to him if the forecast is bad.
Any of that make sense?

Glad your w/e is better than you thought if would be. Doing/done anything nice?

alexsmum · 19/02/2005 19:50

hi marthamoo! if you on 39 threads then you are obviously one of the netball playing popular girls and don't need to worry about killing threads!

marthamoo · 19/02/2005 19:49

Just scrolled down - I beat you, lonelymum!

marthamoo · 19/02/2005 19:48

I can only see 39 of the "threads I'm on" but I've killed 6 of them. Is that good or bad?

If I have ever ignored, not acknowledged, or ridden roughshod over anyone on my cart horse I am SORRY!

alexsmum · 19/02/2005 19:46

your vagina of course!

alexsmum · 19/02/2005 19:46

just changing the subject briefly- are you having a good weekend lonelymum? I am- got to say the flat feeling disappeared last night and we had a lovely evening, and today has been great. hope it's the same for you. how was bab's birthday?

Lonelymum · 19/02/2005 19:45

Right lets get graphic now. But is the air in your bladder or vagina? I can't work it out myself.

alexsmum · 19/02/2005 19:44

not sure, just one of those that you know.!

let's just think of it as an amusing party trick!

Lonelymum · 19/02/2005 19:39

Thought that would get you going ggglimpopo! Had to work hard at not replying there!
