Should I see my GP about anxiety after starting a new job?

I’m quite an anxious person and I’ve just started a new job. I’ve just been thrown in to learn stuff mostly myself and today on my second week because of feeling overwhelmed I’ve phoned in sick. Now I feel guilty and anxious because I phoned in sick. I’ve made several appointments before to go to the gp and I cancel every one of them the day before. I talk myself out of it and I know it’s because I’m anxious about going. I just think they won’t do anything anyway.

My question is should I make myself go? Will they actually do anything to help me and how can I stop feeling anxious and not close to tears sometimes just because of life?

Yes, please go to the GP as it will only get worse if you try to muddle through. Also have a chat with your line manager and see if they can put something in place to guide you through the first few weeks
