Thoughts on twin girls’ names including Anna, Bella, Lola and Ruby

Hi everyone, looking for some takes on baby names, my partner and I are expecting twins and we have a shortlist should they both be girls (we have decided to not know gender).

Our list right now is

Anna and Bella
Anna and Emma
Bella and Lola
or
Lola and Ruby

DH loves Lola and Ruby, I love Bella and Lola

so Lola seems to be the consistent, but we do like Anna and Bella and Anna and Emma.

Middle names will be Elena and Maria (family names).

The only issue is our surname start with B and we are worried Bella B… sounds a bit twee.

Our boys names are Finn and Rory, or Rory and …. If boy and girl.

Thoughts?

I don’t think Anna and Bella sound great together as Annabella is a name on its own.
I love Anna and Emma together though.

All lovely, we have a Lola in our extended family, it’s a great name. Lola and Ruby are my favourite combination and your boys names are also lovely.

Like them all but as PP mentions-Anna and Bella together may be a pain!

I have met waaay too many dogs named Bella for it to register as a human name anymore!

Lola and Ruby for me, or Finn and Ruby.

As a twin, please don't give your children rhyming names. They're going to be their own people and are not a matched set.

The both names with Lola sound like cute names for dogs. Fine on their own but a little too matchy matchy together.

I'd go Lola and Ruby as they are really distinct names.
Lola Bella and Anna Emma are too samey.
Anna Bella sounds like one person.

I appreciate there are dogs called Bella, Lola etc. But I know dogs called Arthur, Oscar and Chloe and no one suggests they can’t be human names too?

Not Lola, always makes me think stripper/showgirl.

I like Bella. Pretty.

Ruby is about 20 years out of date IMO. All the Rubys I know were born in the 1990s or early 2000s. OR they are 90.

Anna is OK, but a bit bland and puts me in mind of a middle aged woman.

Emma is a gorgeous name. Timeless and classy.

I really love Elena and Maria! Could you consider those as first names? I do like the names you chose to be honest but I see the concensus doesn't agree.

We do love the names but our mums are Helen and Elaine and we both have grandmas called Mary so it feels a little too close to all the names already in the family, which is why we are using them as middle names as they are a nod to family and names we like.

They are all lovely names I think.
I wouldn’t put Anna and Bella together for reasons given above. Maybe not Bella at all because of the surname.

Abit harsh, yes. But would you prefer honest opinions from strangers before you’ve made a decision. Or accidentally or directly hear what people that you care about say behind your back, after you’ve named them.

I suppose the dog link just doesn’t bother us at all, we have relatives who are vets so if we ruled out every name ever used for a dog we wouldn’t have any left.

My kids are called Oscar and Bella and admittedly I've been told several times that those are "dog names". So rude. Sometimes I think I should have gone the whole hog and called them Rover and Fido.

Anna and Emma are nice (I know two sisters with those names and I think they go really well together though people think its a hilarious "joke" to call Anna and Elsa so there is that ... ) and Lola and Ruby. Lola and Bella is too many Ls and Anna and Bella sound like you wanted Annabella and couldn't be bothered to think of anything else.

The names themselves I think are all quite nice.
