Clara and Lyra too similar for sisters’ names?

Pregnant with my second baby girl. I already have a Clara, and really love Lyra for this baby. Do you think Clara and Lyra is too much of a tongue twister for siblings? It’s the only thing stopping me!

People will constantly muddle them up, especially if they're close in age. Mine inadvertently ended up with the same letter ending because the older one started going by a shortened version of her name and people, (including me!) really struggle to get the right name for the right girl. I think it's to do with how our brains store names.

They sound awful together.

Lyra is a pretty awful name IMO. (Sorry JMO!) 😬

Yes too close, it's a mouthful to say together. Agree with previous suggestion that Lyla sounds better.

i don’t think so at all, I like them both. I teach twins whose names are the same apart from one letter (think Marina and Malina) so this is nothing!

Also remember when they’re adults, their names will basically never be said together.

For the polite responses and suggestions, thank you! That sadly confirms what I knew deep down, Lyra is off the list! Lyla is a beautiful name but a little too popular where I live. ❤️

What about Leila? Not quite the currently popular Lyla, a bit Lyra-ish, and probably dissimilar enough from Clara.

We love Leila! We have reservations around whether it compliments Clara as a sibling pair because Clara is traditional and Leila slightly more modern. A beautiful name though and definitely on our list. Thank you! @Ineffable23

Thank you! Iris is our top contender for a middle name, but if she was Lyra it would be Primrose as it didn’t flow. Sylvie is actually on our list but we worried it was a bit out there and we aren’t keen on people mistaking her for Slyvia. I love Goldie but my partner said absolutley not 😣 Lots to think about! @AquamarinePearlGold
