Originally going to be called Jim after my granddad, but we've found out we're having a girl. Would this work?

Perhaps Jimbolina would be more feminine. 🤔

Mirabai · 29/04/2024 16:23

Yes, I would work as well as Garryanne.

It's this kind of post that results in Billy Bragg calling MN a hate site isn't it?

He shouldn't have called his child Bilberly. He was asking for it.

If this is real - could you just give a name that has the initials Jim ? For example Jade Imogen May ?

Best you are going to get right here

Toottooot · 29/04/2024 16:10

Ats an affa bonny name for a geet.

BabyRaindeer · 29/04/2024 16:09

People are looking at me laughing to myself in the canteen 😂😂😂

Peonies12 · 29/04/2024 16:09

It's rare something makes me laugh out laugh. this did. please reconsider for your kid's sake.

Cocothecoconut · 29/04/2024 16:08

OnigiriJones · 29/04/2024 15:56

I thought this topic was going to be about a toddler playgroup. Not a bad name for one!

Keepsmiling2948 · 29/04/2024 15:53

Please don’t do this to a poor innocent child!!!

Amy1117 · 29/04/2024 15:50

No 😂😂😂

mathanxiety · 29/04/2024 15:44

How about Shay or Shae?
They're short for Seamus, Irish for James.

LikeTalkingToLassie · 29/04/2024 15:43

@mathanxiety , that is specific to one person called Nigella. The name itself is from the plant.
Her sisters' names are nice IMO.

shearwater2 · 29/04/2024 15:38

Jamie or Jemima would work well.

Jimberley could be a family nickname though.

mathanxiety · 29/04/2024 15:35

LikeTalkingToLassie · 29/04/2024 13:20

Nigella is from the flower/plant

No, it's from her father, Nigel.
Her sisters similar monstrosities for names - Horatia and the slightly better Thomasina.

Needanewname42 · 29/04/2024 15:30

LakeTiticaca · 29/04/2024 13:28

My mum was a cleaner and cleaned for a lady called Jamesina. Never heard that name before or since, but its slightly more acceptable than Jimberley 😅
I think Jaime would be better for a girl

Lots of women with names like Jamesina, Thomasina, Williamina are known as Ina.
That generation of names are probably all 70 plus.

louderthan · 29/04/2024 15:16

I have no children and no desire for any but threads like this are the reason that 'baby names' remains one of my favourite topics...

cheapskatemum · 29/04/2024 14:59

Haven't RTWT, but can honestly say this is the worst name suggestions I've seen on MN. As I'm sure others have pointed out, the name Jaime is a female form of James/Jim.

Megifer · 29/04/2024 14:54

Omg the Hugo thread was cracking.

I just remember Hugoesthere and Hugopotamus 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

HectorPlasm · 29/04/2024 14:53

What about Jim-Jimery-Jim-Jimery-Jim-Jim-Jeroo?

LikeTalkingToLassie · 29/04/2024 14:50

Wasn't the funniest name thread the 'What's Hugo short for?' with Jizabella a close second?
