That's it really, I really like pie but am stuck for a 'proper' name that could be shortened to this.

Thanks!

We call dd Pie because when she was a baby her brother used to say she was a cutey-pie. Same boy calls me Chinchilla ..

LeB0F · 15/07/2012 02:13

Why, Velvet, of course!

Which has the added bonus of including a relative of mine, Arthur Shields, who rides alongside Elizabeth Taylor in a cart. #claimtofame

LeB0F · 15/07/2012 02:14

Or Elizabeth, if you want to go classic.

EmpressOfTheSevenOceans · 15/07/2012 02:20

Sarsparilla?

Mousseline?

Carbonara?

SilveryMoon · 15/07/2012 03:11

I love the name Piper.
I think Pie is cute as long as you're not expecting her to use it to introduce/refer to herself, like a Susan could ise Sue.

My ds2 is called Luke. I have called him Lukey-poos forever (he is 3) but must teach him that is not his name Blush

Badgerina · 15/07/2012 06:28

Pie is a nickname for an enormously fat person.

Badgerina · 15/07/2012 06:34

If you like foodstuffs:

Sandwich (Sandy for short)

Potato (Po for short)

Venison (Vennie for short)

Baguette (Bags for short)

Salad (Sally for short)

Tomato (Tommy for short)

Chilli, Pickle, Candy, Bun, Cupcake (bit of a Mumsnet name, this one).

Joking aside Wink Grin I think Pepper is WAAAAAAAY nicer than Pie.

Peregrine = Pie

fizzybeerandsausages · 15/07/2012 23:59

I know a Simon who has always been called Pie. Couldn't tell you why though.

Ham69 · 16/07/2012 00:01

Ella??

seeker · 16/07/2012 00:04

"simple Simon met a pieman
Going to the fair
Said simple Simon to the pieman
Let me taste your wares
The pieman said to simple simon
Let me see your penny
Said simple Simon to the pieman
Sir I have not any"

seeker & maple - I suspect that could be the reason Grin

Puremince · 16/07/2012 17:08

I know an adult Pie who is actually called Ian. No idea why he's known as Pie, but until I read this thread I didn't think there was anything odd about it.

Although I would think it odd if that was his real name.

toysoldiers · 16/07/2012 17:18

My first thought was National Velvet.

But really No.

And as we all know, it is a complete sentence Wink

Boggler · 16/07/2012 22:15

I used to work with a Pie, it was short for Penelope (PenelopIE get it)

Bluestocking · 16/07/2012 22:20

I like Doughnut. But would Do-Nut look classier?
