That's it really, I really like pie but am stuck for a 'proper' name that could be shortened to this.

Thanks!

I was just going to suggest that Norbert. It has a certain je ne sais que

Clunge · 27/01/2011 19:52

Pie can be a nickname for any name. My youngest has the first 2 initials of KP. I call her Peanut.

asdx2 · 27/01/2011 19:52

I don't think nn have to be a direct link to the official name tbh. My dd is named Lucy but we call her Pearl because it suits her and I tell her we called her that because she is small and precious Grin

grottielottie · 27/01/2011 19:53

Pie as in 'don't be shy show us your pie'?

LoisSanger · 27/01/2011 19:59

Paella

grumpykat25 · 27/01/2011 20:00

Our dd is known to all family member as pickle. Which bears absolutely no relevance to her real name whatsoever!

JellyBelly10 · 27/01/2011 20:00

A child with the name Pie? Seriously? I don't think you're going to get many people supporting this idea! If Jamie Oliver or Jonathan Ross or some such celebrity called their child Honey-Pie or just Pie for that matter the press would have a field-day with all the puns they could use as it would just be laughable nonsense....however cute you may think it will sound to be calling "Sweetie-Pie" to your angelic looking 2 year old, think to the future and the opportunity for people ripping the mickey out of her later down the line!! If she so much as puts on an ounce of puppy-fat in her teens she won't thank you then when people at school are calling her Pork-Pie!
It really is a bit of an odd name in my opinion, sorry!

Mouseface · 27/01/2011 20:03

I'm liking Piper and Honey-Pie but then I want to burst into song.....

DS is Nemo, after the Disney character....

DD is bolshie little mare Boo.

If you go with just Pie, I'd spell it Pyh.

Mouseface · 27/01/2011 20:03

Why didn't my strike outs work.

Bugger.

pointydug · 27/01/2011 20:18

Pie?

It would be disastrous if your child went through a chubby phase.

PuraVida · 27/01/2011 20:23

Hang on I've got it, life of Pi Pi is piscine isn't he? Piscine ~ perfect

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 27/01/2011 20:24

Piscine sounds too much like pissing to me, she would be eaten alive! Grin

Oh, oh, I have it.

Freya > Fray Bentos > Pie

Wincy that's why he calls himself pi, because of the treasing. Now if an Indian boy with a French name gets teased, it is certainly possible that an English girl with a similar name might be. Just sayin like

PuraVida · 27/01/2011 20:37

Sorry bitterandtwisted not Wincy Smile

Seriously OP, even if you totally love the name Pie can you honestly say you want your DD to have to put up with all the cruel teasing that would follow?

Why would you want to make your daughter's life so much more difficult? Why?Confused

BrianAndHisBalls · 27/01/2011 21:11

GoPlay - shes a total bitch thats why. She called her ds 'Brian-John' just so he'd have the initials BJ Shock

Mouseface · 27/01/2011 21:13

Yeah but Brian - maybe she wants to counter act that by giving her DD such a stupid unusual name??

BrianAndHisBalls · 27/01/2011 21:24

Good point MoleFace, I hadnt thought of that.

I agree it is a very pretty name, Pie. Rhymes with Die for one thing.

goplayout · 27/01/2011 22:11

Shock@ BJ.... Have just googled BJ and the very first thing is entitled "How to give a good BJ" Shock

Why, why, why would you want to set your child up for such a burden?

Sadly some children do tease, and I know that even a bit of mild teasing to any of my 3DC cuts like a knifeSad

mathanxiety · 27/01/2011 22:25

'Piscine sounds too much like pissing to me, she would be eaten alive!'

And you think she wouldn't be eaten alive - with a name like Pie?
