Noisy hotel sex. Why?

Tiredthismorning · Today 12:50

Why do people have such noisy sex in hotels? I have just got home from a wedding yesterday, after which I stayed in a hotel. The couple in the next room had vocal sex at 2am and again at 8am. Proper shrieks and moans and grunts and words that I could hear through the wall from both of them, for a good half an hour both times.

Have your fun by all means. But why make so much noise?? I know hotel rooms are private but hotels aren't, especially not in the middle of the night.

AIBU to think it's no less selfish (and quite a bit more unreasonable) than keeping other guests up with music or any other noise. It's not the first time I've been kept awake like this.

Maybe don't take your kids to a hotel if you don't want them to hear sex noises or anything else your puritan mind thinks is too distasteful for little Sebastian and Tiffany.

Only jealous people who get no sex seem to be upset at the prospect of hearing other people getting their rocks off I find. Same with people who complain about the smell of cannabis smoke, just get a life wow!

As opposed to people who do want their children exposed to sex noises?

Any kind of excessive noise filtering through to other guests is going to be irritating.

TheGander · Today 15:34

Enough real misery in the world, at least some people are enjoying themselves.

MrsPapillon · Today 15:35

I’m really surprised by the comments on here. It’s ’jealousy’ to expect quiet in a hotel? A place where you pay to spend the night?

I’m not jealous, I have noisy sex at home. But I wouldn’t slam doors, have the TV on loud, play music at full volume, shout, sing at the top of my voice or have noisy sex at 2am in a hotel because it’s anti-social and fucking inconsiderate to make a lot of noise when people are trying to sleep.

I really can’t stand the selfishness and entitlement of people these days.

cramptramp · Today 15:36

I’d have thumped on the walls over and over again. It’s so performative and annoying.

Are they though? 🤔 Or are they just desperate for people to think they're 'enjoying themselves?'

As I said, it's not necessary to scream like a constipated alley cat to 'prove' you're having a good time.

Muffsies · Today 15:37

FrankieNeverRelax · Today 13:32

That’s a them problem I’m afraid. Being a kid and hearing your own parents have sex is much worse than hearing strangers lol!

You're gross and very inconsiderate. I have loads of hotel sex, due to a liking for short weekend trips away; I'd never be noisy, it's rude and other people's kids hearing is def unacceptable. Of course the odd noise might escape, but never half an hour of it 🤮

I'd complain. It could be people filming online porn - it's rife in premier inns.

It is isn't it? As well as pathetic and attention-seeking.

Applesonthelawn · Today 15:40

We endured this only last week and I think what annoys me is that it sounded so performative. Lesbian couple in our case (them, not us, saw them leaving the room in the morning) so no bed creaking, just the very loud moaning. I mean by all means have your fun but you can't help but feel they want everyone to know. They were also extremely demonstrative and proud of themselves at breakfast.

LikeASoulWithoutAMind · Today 15:41

Sorry, got a bit carried away

TipsyWriter · Today 15:43

seventeenofsumday · Today 13:26

I mean no one has to be noisy during sex, a lot of it is purely performative, I cringe when people scream the place down, and then say they can't help it Hmm like really? It's completely uncontrollable and involuntary?? I dont mean the odd noises or quiet noise but the ones who scream and shout so loud you can hear from miles away its clearly a choice to be that noisy 🤣 I get that a hotel people maybe shouldn't need to avoid being noisy but I think out of basic respect of others in the nearby rooms its reasonable to expect a bit of noise control Grin

You’ve clearly never had really good sex.

ThatFlakyHam · Today 15:45

My girlfreind used to complain that i was too quiet during our moments of fun. She just wasnt overtly noisy just wanted to let rip and not worry hwo might hear. To her hotels were the place not having to be silent (without being overtly noisy ) and peaple having fun was expected. For me years of having to do it quietly with another partner becuase of kids in the rooms next to us i had just become conditioned to be very quiet.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · Today 15:46

I would be more likely to be noisy in a hotel than at home 🤣. I have a 13 year old though

TheRealSmurfette · Today 15:46

CynicalSunni · Today 15:01

I have a theory that people who scream during sex are the kids who were allowed to scream in their gardens. Don't know how to express joy without screaming.

The repression is strong with this one.

Threeatatime · Today 15:46

We used to have neighbours like that , so I would bang on their wall loudly, luckily the moved out pretty quickly, we had young children trying to sleep.

Did you not have a football rattle with you?

Half an hour? Blimey!

You put up with LESS than half an hour? You poor sausage.

Weeellokthen · Today 15:52

Some people just like to put on a performance because they know people an hear.

Krabappel · Today 15:52

DebbieSavage · Today 15:04

I would just hate to be as puritan as you. Loud sex within earshot of someone with views like yours would be all the more sweeter, I can promise you that. If I heard someone having sex I would be extremely happy for them, you should try it some time. There is sooooo much more to romance than letting your two pump chump of a partner climb on top of you and huff and puff for all of two seconds while you think about the latest episode of Emmadale.

Um… this took a weird turn

MandemChickenShop · Today 15:55

the sex bit is irrelevant really. People shouldn't be noisy in hotel rooms to the extent it disturbs other guests.

that said, shamefully, I think I would be getting aroused if it was next door to me. 30 minutes, blimey, total rizzlers

Gwenhwyfar · Today 15:56

"Only jealous people who get no sex seem to be upset at the prospect of hearing other people getting their rocks off I find."

You don't think it could also be people who need to sleep?

Cadeaukatze · Today 15:58

QueenMummyTheFirst · Today 13:08

I do agree with OP - it's pretty antisocial. I would be annoyed at being woken up to this.

I would also assume that they get off on being heard by other guests, and be annoyed at being dragged into their voyeur kink.

Agreed, it's just another example of our #noisemaxxing performative society.

Everyone has to hear what a great time they're having.

bumblingbovine49 · Today 12:57

Mostly because some of us cant have noisy sex at home and hotels are places we don't realky care who hears us and noisy sex is fun, A different fun than the quiet type and nice for a change. You did ask. Possibly it is a bit selfish and so what?

Hotels can be noisy for all sorts of reasons l. I never stay in a hotel without good quality ear plugs or noise cancelling headphones

Possibly it is a bit selfish and so what?

The answer’s in the question. The question sums up what’s wrong with modern society. A clear compromise exists — cut the volume to half — but compromise is anathema to some people.

Mischance · Today 15:59

I have never had noisy sex. And never had sex without a splendid orgasm!

The noise is wholly unnecessary.

moderate · Today 16:00

TipsyWriter · Today 15:43

You’ve clearly never had really good sex.

The lady doth protest too loudly, methinks.

Gwenhwyfar · Today 16:01

theiblis · Today 14:46

I would generally think in a hotel that the rooms would be better sound proofed, how on earth would the people having the sex know they were disturbing other people. Especially if that’s normally how they have sex and so haven’t changed their behaviour for a hotel….

If they'd ever stayed in a hotel before in their lives they'd know that loud noises carry.
And I've stayed in all types of hotels before someone comes back with the claim that posh hotels are completely sound proofed. They're not. You can hear TV, showers and people being loud.
