Noisy hotel sex. Why?

Tiredthismorning · Today 12:50

Why do people have such noisy sex in hotels? I have just got home from a wedding yesterday, after which I stayed in a hotel. The couple in the next room had vocal sex at 2am and again at 8am. Proper shrieks and moans and grunts and words that I could hear through the wall from both of them, for a good half an hour both times.

Have your fun by all means. But why make so much noise?? I know hotel rooms are private but hotels aren't, especially not in the middle of the night.

AIBU to think it's no less selfish (and quite a bit more unreasonable) than keeping other guests up with music or any other noise. It's not the first time I've been kept awake like this.

I just don’t think they’re thinking about you op. Get some ear plugs? Put the radio on? Wake up your DH and have sex too?

I mean no one has to be noisy during sex, a lot of it is purely performative, I cringe when people scream the place down, and then say they can't help it Hmm like really? It's completely uncontrollable and involuntary?? I dont mean the odd noises or quiet noise but the ones who scream and shout so loud you can hear from miles away its clearly a choice to be that noisy 🤣 I get that a hotel people maybe shouldn't need to avoid being noisy but I think out of basic respect of others in the nearby rooms its reasonable to expect a bit of noise control Grin

I agree, it’s like forced fun 😅

Also agree with the points people made that you don’t know in a hotel if your neighbours are a family with young kids, just be a bit considerate! Especially not in the early hours of the morning when you might wake others up.

If you are into having noisy hotel sex, do be aware if you come down to breakfast that other couples will have taken bets on how good-looking (or otherwise!) you and your partner will turn out to be. I always find it funny how the loud-sex couples look so sheepish and ill-at-ease with each other at the breakfast table.

Probably just hungover and not looking their most appealing. But i think either own it in the breakfast room or stay upstairs. You need to accept if others have heard you at night, they are entitled to a little snigger at you (and whoever is your chosen partner.)

Who honestly cares?!

Well duh. They aren’t thinking about others, that’s the point.

Shouldn’t we have a little care of others in a tightly packed space? People trying to sleep, maybe young kids next door etc. It’s just a bit selfish in my opinion to be shouting and screaming.

They’re away on a jolly. No work, no kids, nice meal, plenty of vino followed by a great shag. Do you wish you were there? Good luck to them, go ride them cowboy!

We’ve all read the OP, no need to quote it!

ForTipsyFinch · Today 14:53

I had a neighbour do this, to the level it could be heard from every room and above the tv and music. My daughter used to ask what the noise was, which was uncomfortable 😅 she sounded like a seagull squawking, never heard noise like it. There’s absolutely no need for that, they were also having sex in the summer with the windows open with the same level of noise. I made it clear everyone could hear and she’s managed to not to do it since.

You know that people don't really care these days OP?
I know a quite a few people who go away to get some time with their partner.

I'm old so I'm less noisy these days but I have relatives who are not!

If just clap at the end tbh.

Ahahahhahaha or join in with the noises!!

I just can’t get worked up about it 🤷🏻‍♀️

I don't care. Keep the bloody noise down because I am four feet away through that wall, and there's somebody the other side too!

And for those asking if I was jealous... Not really. I got astoundingly good oral sex from DH on Friday night followed by the same high quality shag I get at least a couple of times every week. And I managed to experience it all without waking the neighbours.

Oh honey, if your sex didn't wake the neighbours, then chances are it wasn't as good as you are claiming it was. 🤭

I think you need a husband upgrade!

Ok? I also said about not waking people up - I’d be pissed off if I was having a nice sleep and someone started shrieking away next door, kids or no kids! And yes have plenty of (non-selfish) fun when away too.

EmeraldShamrock000 · Today 14:47

Oh no. That is embarrassing.
I had a neighbour years ago that knew well everyone could hear her. She left her window open.

Ewwwwww. Confused I wouldn't be able to look her in the eye after I'd heard her 'sex screams!'

All these supercool PP going on about how great it is to have noisy sex in hotels away from their kids are quite happy to perform in front of other people's kids then.

I remember having switching the TV up to deafening levels once in a hotel when DS was only 6 because the room next had decided to perform for everybody.

Being purposefully loud because " it's fun" and getting a kick out of knowing that everyone can hear you, is forcing others take part .

You wouldn't go into a hotel and blast your music full volume because you are away from your kids and "it's fun" .
That would be antisocial and selfish.
So I call bullshit on those who think it's ok to make a loud noise having sex in a building full of other people.

Sorry, I was going to reply but then I read …the same high quality shag… and now I can’t stop simultaneously laughing, cringing and imagining you as Austin Powers!

Yeah because sex is only good if you scream so loud that half the people in your street can hear you. 🙄

Oh honey, I think you are too desperate to prove what GREAT SEX you're having if you have to make sure everyone can hear you shagging! 😂

They need a separate section for the noisy people to do their performative sex in so the rest of the world can get a decent night's rest. And for those who use 'away from the kids' as an excuse, what about the fact that there may well be other people's kids in the room next door? It's selfish exhibitionistic behaviour.

I think many, many people are ruined from what is normal sex by watching too much porn TBH.

I have a theory that people who scream during sex are the kids who were allowed to scream in their gardens. Don't know how to express joy without screaming.

That’s not entirely fair, I spent a lot of my youth trying to be quiet and actually once you shrug that off and don’t think about how much noise you’re making it’s liberating and more fun.

I would just hate to be as puritan as you. Loud sex within earshot of someone with views like yours would be all the more sweeter, I can promise you that. If I heard someone having sex I would be extremely happy for them, you should try it some time. There is sooooo much more to romance than letting your two pump chump of a partner climb on top of you and huff and puff for all of two seconds while you think about the latest episode of Emmadale.
