Noisy hotel sex. Why?

Tiredthismorning · Today 12:50

Why do people have such noisy sex in hotels? I have just got home from a wedding yesterday, after which I stayed in a hotel. The couple in the next room had vocal sex at 2am and again at 8am. Proper shrieks and moans and grunts and words that I could hear through the wall from both of them, for a good half an hour both times.

Have your fun by all means. But why make so much noise?? I know hotel rooms are private but hotels aren't, especially not in the middle of the night.

AIBU to think it's no less selfish (and quite a bit more unreasonable) than keeping other guests up with music or any other noise. It's not the first time I've been kept awake like this.

So you don't mind other people's kids hearing it?

Lol. No. I don't think other people's kids having silence in a hotel is my problem.

Their parents can put the radio on for them if they want or make something up.

Most hotels have soundproofing surely, and if they don't and you can hear other guests, then put it in your review.
It's ridiculous to expect people in hotels to not have noisy sex if that's what they want to do. It's one of life's joys.

Some of the bitter comments on this thread read like jealousy, to be honest. Not sure why couples staying in hotels should have to have a silent god-honouring bonk.

I've definitely been the noisy-sex-haver in this situation, but in my defense I had no idea anyone was next door or that they could hear me until they told me in the morning. I didn't hear a peep of their conversation or TV and just assumed no one was there. If it gets bad enough to keep you up call reception next time OP!

Maybe other people in the hotel are too! I wouldn't play music really loudly in a hotel room at night so why would anyone scream the house down during sex? By all means have sex, just do it quietly!

Where else are they to have the noisy sex?

You didn't hear a peep because the people next door were considerate.

I think all this thread shows is most people are supremely selfish and inconsiderate.

People staying in hotels can have all kinds of circumstances- going to a funeral, a wedding, a job interview, to name a few. And don't come back with 'wear earplugs- not everyone can. For some people they are very uncomfortable.

Ruining their night's sleep is just selfish.

It's quite possible to have sex and not scream or moan.

KathleenDarleenDayKnight · Today 14:04

I wonder if you got the same couple we did last year - hot weather so doors to balconies opened, and she screamed, and screamed, and SCREAMED. Performative bullshit.

Dorothyperky · Today 14:05

There is a thread about the shaggers in the hedge. Even funnier than this one!

gravitarse · Today 14:06

We stayed at a very old hotel in Sidmouth and while I was unlocking the door to go into our room, the couple in the room opposite and very noisy sex in the afternoon I couldn't look at them the same way at breakfast the next day. 😁😁

shuggles · Today 14:06

@DebbieSavage Get a B&B or holiday home. Everybody knows hotels are for hookups and discreet sex without your partner being any the wiser.

And no doubt you would be the first person to cry on this website if your husband cheated on you.

They were both really ugly as well

Either too much alcohol and/or it could be a form of exhibitionism

Play “Ohh Ahh Just a Little Bit” by GinaG on your phone as loud as you can and hold it against the wall…

lol.

My husband and I heard this on a cruise ship once, many years ago now. He was making a right old racket. We never heard a peep out of her. (Or it could have been another him, for all we knew).

We were laughing like drains. Then DH said: 'I'm getting the sense that he hasn't had sex for a VERY long time!'

Moral of the story: I never, ever stay away overnight without an industrial quantity of wax earplugs.

I stayed in a mid-price hotel about 10 years ago and overheard the saddest sexual encounter between the woman staying in the room next door and a disinterested Tinder date.

The soundproofing was so bad, that I soon knew she was travelling to the city for work and had met the guy for a date a few weeks ago but he hadnt called afterwards. She called him up that night and invited him to the hotel room and they proceeded to have the loudest and most desultory sexual encounter - full of unerotic talking dirty, sexual desperation and performative fake orgasms. After it ended, he was out of there as quickly as possible. Then I heard her crying.

I still think about it occasionally and feel sad for her. She was so clearly trying to inspire interest/connection where there was none. Hopefully she met someone decent afterwards. But, yes, hotel sound-proofing can be awful. I literally heard every word of their conversation (hence learning the sorry back-story).

I like to join in with the grunting but on the off stroke. Really puts them off their timing.

😂

I've had this happen twice in the past couple of weeks alone....seems to go on for ages! Same hotel but different rooms and different weeks. One couple were so loud all night laughing and giggling and then the noisy sex started at about 6am. Wondered if they were doing an only fans shoot!! Didn't complain cos I'm British (!) and what would reception say in all honesty....

When folks are in their rooms they consider it a private bubble, and I get that.
it's their hotel room and they can have noisy sex if they want, but I agree with you that whilst a carefree experience is great for them, it is annoying for the near neighbours who haven't request a free porn experience.
My sympathies to you as I'm not interested in listening to others either, but it seems to be the way of it and always has been - some hotel sleeps are peaceful and some are not.

I turn up the telly, bang on the wall or lie there waiting for it to end.
In any hotel there is always someone being noisy, slamming doors, shouting, running, loud tv, kids running amock above your head, sex, nightclub chuck outs.... etc,.

Just gotta write it up as another experience in the tapestry of life.

The Mac's 'Big Love' would work exceptionally well with this.

Exactly.

All those people who think it's ok to make as much noise as possible, you won't mind if I play the Superman, the Birdie Dance, I'm Henery the Eighth I am and Agadoo on repeat at the same volume then? Or when you've finished and are trying to get some sleep. Or at 6am when you are nursing a hangover.

They enjoy the thought that nearby children can hear it. It turns them on unfortunately.

Askandyforcompo · Today 14:18

My friend runs a B and B. They have a couple who have stayed a few times who eat their full English breakfast then retire to their room above the breakfast room and have noisy sex that everyone who is still eating can hear!

She got a low booking . com review from another couple who were complaining about them so she declines their booking now. She made me laugh because she told me they always have 4 rounds of toast each with their breakfast.

Oh I used to be a right screamer when I was younger ….( thinks back wistfully )😉x

OonaStubbs · Today 14:22

Noisy sex is just uncouth and rude IMO particularly in a hotel. Most guests just want to get a good night's sleep and not to hear a couple going like the clappers in an adjoining room. Maybe there should be special sex hotels that are designed for this sort of thing.

Redhotspicywine · Today 14:23

Surely that's the best bit of a hotel shag?! No kids in the room down the hall, you can properly enjoy yourselves!
