To think the French students are out of control?

ITVXsponsoredbyDominoes · Yesterday 19:53

Demonstrating against large class sizes is one thing.

Smashing up shop windows and looting goods is another.

Idiots. They are 14/15 and when they are arrested the French authorities will come down on them and their criminal records will stay with them forever. Where are the parents in all of this?

Woukd this happen in the UK?

Saying it is the far left probably.

They’d be saying that, as would everyone else.

Gwenhwyfar · Today 09:06

Yes, by looters, not by protesters, which is my point.

Two cheeks of the same arse.

Gwenhwyfar · Today 09:24

Naunet · Today 09:19

How do you know?!
Yesterday was planned, it was clear what would happen, I highly doubt genuine protestors who dont want violenc, would attend if they had even a sliver of common sense. Also some of them were carrying Palestine flags, so yes, the far left.

How do I know? Because I've seen the violent thugs. They're a different group from the protestors. They arrive separately and cover their faces. They just tag along to protests and have nothing to do with them.
Being pro-Palestine doesn't make someone far left by the way.

No, completely different people!
Have you never been a protest? Does that make you a rioting thug?

Monty36 · Today 09:26

If it’s not then who is it?

I suspect anyone who wants to see Europe unsettled. Who gains an advantage for that to occur.
Given it is organised over a variety of European countries. Copy cat some might be, but not on this scale.

SmallDFartyCarNRG · Today 09:26

Far right/Far left are just the division lines Russia has been busy creating - these are just angry, poor, disenchanted people who have been told their "side" needs to step up - it is all Russia and people who feel pushed to it by social media misinformation for BOTH sides manipulated by Russia.

I have.

It was peaceful. it can be done.

Oh you've seen them, just like the rest of us, but you had the special ability to be able to read their minds too?! Don't be ridiculous, you have an opinion, its no more valid than anyone else's. And yes, taking a Palestine flag on a protest that has nothing to do with Palistine, absolutely does indicate someone is far left

The 'thread', what do you mean 'the thread'. The thread is not a person living in one of the places where this is taking place. There are people on this thread obviously getting misinformation from the media.

Of course there are also people in this thread living in France with relatives in the ground in some of the cities that are in the news.

And the tweet below if Le Pen wins? It’s pretty blunt on its intention. Do you think that person isn’t being clear enough or direct on the reason?

Flormed · Today 09:01

It’s pretty obvious that a valid protest from students has been hijacked by a violent mob with various agendas and is now escalating.

And there is some romanticisation of the French and ‘revolution’ going on which is making me cringe a bit. Violence and injury is nothing to celebrate or revere.

Agree. There’s always someone going ‘I wish we were more like that!’
No, thank you. Burning down schools and looting businesses isn’t going to improve anyone’s future.

Exactly. You're not a rioter are you? But rioters could have turned up at your protests and then people might say you're part of them, which is not fair.
The thing is it's easy to distinguish anyway as the rioters dress differently to the protestors. I can't see where the confusion is.

There were riots in London 15 years ago. Rioting is not particularly French and it's a separate thing from protesting.

Look at this post @Monty36if you scroll back you’ll see it.

"And yes, taking a Palestine flag on a protest that has nothing to do with Palistine, absolutely does indicate someone is far left"

How does it? Do you think the teenage rioters would be able to tell you much about communism?
Many of them are young Arab north Africans and so they have deep sympathy with Palestinians, as most other people do.

No, they were not invited or encouraged.

Had it descended into riots I would not have stayed and I would not have attended the further protests.

We all make our choices.

So are you saying they have been invited by the French school children?

AlicePottery’s comments are bang on. I also live in France and see the same things and coverage in my area. I’m proud my son is out protesting peacefully and horrified at the police brutality and the violence and destruction from hooligans. I’m sure there are far left and right wing agitators in the crowds of violent looters but a lot are simply young lads out looking for trouble.

The students have a legitimate right to protest. My social media is full of positive videos of creative and engaged kids marching, dancing and singing with their clever placards. Expressing their concerns about education but also about their concerns more generally now. And I also see police in full riot gear advancing threateningly on peaceful students. The police actions are radicalising the youth. For anyone looking for a French overview Hugo Decrypte is not a bad source.

The people destabilising Europe are the ones on here who are claiming it’s something to do with immigration and spouting rubbish pushed on x, the kind of people who’ll be delighted if Nigel’s mate LePen won. There is a lot of total bs on this thread from people who know nothing about France but are delighted to find a way to push their own far right views. This is absolutely nothing to do with immigration.

I think it’s likely the protests will expand greatly. People everywhere are fed up with rising costs, a dying planet and an uncertain future. In France the elections are obviously a key point of focus. My hope is that this might galvanise the centre and left to find a candidate to beat Melechon. The LFI are playing a blinder as the students appreciate their support.

celeriacismisunderstood · Today 09:36

What I’m saying is that the so called children chose to continue and courted the support of the far left.

There are eight pages. No. Thanks anyway.
Unless the tweet is from someone of significance politically, it is not going to be definitive.

I’ve given you the time of the post to find it but up to you. If there are more riots if Le Pen wins it won’t be surprising even if you ignore it now.

Rising costs and a dying planet, so burning the existing infrastructure?
