To be disappointed Dolly Parton supported biological men using women's toilets?

I really liked her music and she seemed like a nice person: her Imagination Library came to my borough recently. I was very sad to hear she'd died.
But was very disappointed to read this. The statements she made about trans people deserving respect, no issue with those.
But minimising the reasonable concerns women have about being forced to let men in their toilets was wrong.
I'm not saying she should have spoken out for GC issues. It might have been best just not to comment.
Parton had connections with drag queens and I wonder if that's the lens she saw transwomen through : not an excuse but might partially explain.

Maybe they just don’t give a fuck.

Then why make such a meal of asking? Odd behaviour for someone who doesn’t give a fuck.

LizzieW1969 · 25/09/2026 08:50

I’m GC but not about toilets. I don’t worry about who else is in there, I just wait my turn to get into one. Changing rooms would be more uncomfortable, but as yet it isn’t something I’ve had to deal with.

It’s a completely different matter with hospital wards, women’s refuges and women’s prisons, where there are vulnerable women who need safe spaces. Of on a Rape Crisis helpline; I remember when I called them and I certainly wouldn’t have wanted to have a male voice answer the phone.

Mostly, though, I’m not a single issue person and there are a lot of other issues that are of more immediate concern for me.

More than anything else, I wouldn’t trust the likes of Trump and the American Right to speak for me. Or Nigel Farage. They really don’t care about women.

Is asking you what you describe yourself to be (but can’t explain) ‘a meal’? It was just a short sentence. I was expecting a short answer but this has turned quite mealy in itself. Sigh.

Edited to add - when the poster posted a link to a Wikipedia page I thought ‘well I don’t care that much’. Sorry.

Thank you for at least being polite. I do appreciate that.

’Trans-inclusive’ though doesn’t translate to ‘everyone believes transwomen are women’ personally. To me, it simply means co-existing without obvious bigotry, no matter my personal thoughts.

Women have been hounded out of jobs, political parties and friendship groups and have received death and rapethreats for not believing transwomen are women. I'm be happy to co-exist as long as I'm not expected to proclaim a blatant lie (because that is what it is) that men can become women or women can become men.

I agree. If I don't understand a term I'd go off and google, and then if I wanted further clarification I'd ask and take on board the response.
Asking in here and then when explanation/links are offered responding dismissively that they don't give a fuck is disingenuous and just comes across as goady and trying to wind people up. Usually done by people unable to have a proper discussion. I'm seeing a trend.

Saw it a while ago. Same posters every time.

Or if you’re going to declare yourself as something at least be able to explain what that is.

Goady? You asked me a question, I answered it only for you to ask me the exact same question for a second time.

You asked, they answered, you CBA to read and said you didn't give a fuck anyway. It's all there to read by you and everyone else, much as my previous question to you that you didn't answer properly.

They didn’t actually. Another poster gave a Wikipedia link, the bastion of accurate knowledge (note the sarcasm).

You asked what part of what Dolly said I had an issue with. I said I had no issue. Twice. Question answered (twice).

The FWR board and the posters on it life rent free in certain posters heads, it’s all they talk about. The rest of us are just plodding along trying to keep women’s hard fought for rights away from confused men and their supporters.

If you do an advanced search it's illuminating to see which posters only post on this issue.

It’s why DARVO is so effective. It’s not really irony. It’s a deliberate choice for TRAs and the TRA adjacent.

What exactly is 'TRA adjacent' when it's at home? 🤔

Anyone who isn't explicitly against trans people or would defend their right to a peaceful existence.

Anyone who doesn't hate trans people, in other words.

Many posters have told me that they've searched me up. One person recently told me she knows who I am offline and she will be reporting me.

I’ve gathered that TRA is a name for inclusive feminists. We’re all activists apparently. No idea what TRA adjacent means though 😳

Anyway, imagine being “disappointed” about a person you didn’t know personally but who has passed away. WTF?

I am disappointed in any woman who is not on the side of women. Famous or not, whether I know them or not. Disappointed that they actively prioritise men's needs above those of their own sex. Or disappointed that they've not thought critically enough to see the difference. Or because they are just following the herd in the virtue signalling stampede today.

Disappointed isn't a strong enough word, come to think of it.

Lexibletheflexible · 25/09/2026 14:15

It started with them bringing in my views on trans people to a thread about a single mother dating, then she started searching through my posts and she brought up my past in prison and my marriage, then she started saying that I am fraudulently claiming benefits and a bursary at my son's private school.

Around the same time, someone else was posting what I thought were genuine posts in my threads and giving me other mentions. I'd reply in good faith and then their message would be deleted. I think they must have been sock puppets or something. You can see some of it at the end of my AMA thread.

It was all very weird. A few posts by a few posters over different days that kept bringing my views and opinions from other threads, especially trans ones, to unrelated threads.

MN were on the ball though and deleted any I reported plus ones that I didn't even know were problematic.

Hang on, the sort of feminist whose feminism includes men as long as they think they are women are opposed to men posting on FWR?

It's laughable people keep saying "the people who's feminism includes men" as some kind of dit when describing feminists who include everyone who believes in equality and dignity and respect between the sexes. If rather that then try to claim to be feminist but I spend my spare time slagging off other women online as handmaidens, dick panderers with a bunch of men.

It wouldn't matter if people didn't try to paint FWR as all women concerned about women's rights and didn't get so offended whenever people point how much it's requested by men and is becoming more misogynistic to women considered "dim" ( which in most cases is a successful intelligent woman holding her own opinion) but sure those people have women's rights in hand 🙄
