I got a Tesco dupe for £60, it’s fleece lined and so warm. And totally waterproof!

OP is interested in coat for its waterproof function. Regatta has 5000 waterproof rating, the two I have mentioned are 15000 (?maybe more) so will keep her dryer and warmer.

I’m also in the SW and got an Animal one in the Mountain Warehouse sale. I love parka style coats anyway so it’s not a world away. Looking forward to wearing it as soon as cold / wet enough. Don’t care if anyone else thinks anything about it tbh & I don’t see why they should. I’ll hopefully be cosy and dry and that’s all that matters.

I faced the same dilemma last year and managed to find one that looks a wee bit better than a dry robe. It's from Holland Cooper. The price is a bit on the steep side at £249 (although I got mine in their summer sale so it was a fair bit cheaper) but it has all the benefits of a dry robe (waterproof, fleece lining etc) with a few nice details e.g. faux leather trim. Seasalt do really good ones! I've got Janelle & Hunters, and nikwax wash them every couple of years to re- waterproof them.

before these, I nearly bought a dryrobe - really pleased I didn't- they look really naff when not worn for their purpose.

I get regatta coats, they are waterproof and windproof, I get them for around £10 from eBay.

I have a wild moose that I’ve had for six years. Still keeps me completely dry. It’s like walking the dog in my duvet.

I also use it after sea swims in colder weather.

I have a couple for outdoor swimming.

Regatta for me was a waste of money as the zip is really hit and miss.

I got 1 from Red, thats more fitted and love that its one that I can also use for dog walks etc in the rain as it doesn't have the bulk to it.

I’ve got two Oodie coats that are essentially the same thing. Warmest things I own. I wear them all through the winter. They are absolutely not the most flattering things but they are so very warm, deep pockets and warm hoods.

I live in the south west. From October to March, our weather is 99% driving rain and howling wind. I’ve tried over the years to find a decent winter coat that keeps me warm and dry. I’ve found a few that work somewhat, including a lovely M&S rain jacket, but it’s a bit thin.

im considering just biting the bullet and buying a big waterproof changing coat from regatta and being cosy.

But does it look a bit wanky?! Is it okay?!
