To buy a dry robe as a winter coat?!

I bought one last year just for at my son's football and really regretted it. Gave it to the charity shop in the summer. The hood wasn't deep enough so the front if my hair always got soaking wet, they're so impractical if you need to take a bag out with you - i found it hard to carry my bag on my shoulder without it all bunching up under my arms. Also as a PP mentioned it was so loose that the cold got up inside it. I don't recommend sorry.

YANBU. They're ugly yes - but who cares. They are perfect for the driving rain and wind. Game changer, you'll never wear another one in the bad weather.

I wouldn’t really know it’s a dry robe! It’s fine and practical. The only thing that I’d worry about is the amount of polyester and would you get sweaty??? Weirdly even in the cold I can still sweat in big coats so would want something more breathable.

inhave a regatta one but not sure what it’s called. But comes to thigh, warm and waterproof. Was under £200. Maybe look in mountain warehouse for some ideas.

Aldi have changing robes for 30 quid at the moment. OH bought one today, for the beach though.

To get what you want you may have to invest a bit - especially as you’d use it daily for bigger part of the year.

I have one for watching my son play football - it has a hot water bottle pocket! It’s by Red Adventure.

Red Equipment make changing robes, but they also do parka that is changing robes style, but just not so enormous and bulky, so it looks better. I am out for hours walking the dog, so need something that does the job!

I had a seasalt Janelle and the waterproofing failed pretty quickly, so I had to return it.

I’ve got a horse and 2 Labs who need their Wallis why we the weather, I have an equestrian one like an equidry but mines a brand called Stable Skin - it’s a waterproof large coat that keeps me totally warm dry and clean while I’m dog walking or sorting my horse and can also be worn riding, it’s the best investment I have made! Not stylish at all but sometimes you need to be able to get outside and stay dry and it’s a lifesaver for me!

I live on the coast and wear mine for after sea swimming - personally I don't know what anyone would wear them as winter coats for!?!

I don't get it they're cumbersome in terms of the fit for walking any real distance in, the sleeves flap about at the cuff and the hoods don't sit snug - they're just not designed to be coat coats.

Like other people have said research some decent outdoors brands. There are loads!

My preference is my Patagonia down sweater as they call it - v thin but super warm. With my sweaty better or protected species calf length raincoats over the top.

Absolutely. When it's Baltic and chucking it down warmth and dryness surpasses tut tuts from those that are bothered about aesthetics from a Swiss finishing school, or tic toc.

I walk my dogs at least twice a day and there's a few toilet trips in between.
It's rained torrentially here for a week and every coat I've worn is sopping wet.Short raincoats leave me soaking from the knees down and I've been changing clothes up to 3 times a day.My coats are currently in the tumble dryer and 2 of them are dripping wet in the utility after being re proofed because they failed miserably in the rain..As a result I've given in and bought a dry robe which I'm impatiently waiting to arrive.
You have to dress for the weather and it's a poor economy to do otherwise, during the week I started to wonder how farmers coped with this weather.
Blundstones, dubarry boots and woollen socks have sorted out my feet but you have to have a well performing coat regardless of how it looks.

I live on the coast and the weather here is mostly wet and windy in the winter. My dog gets walked at least a couple of times a day and i got fed up with water running down my legs in driving rain as the water would get in via the pockets of my coats. So I opted for a Delta Roam (?) I love it..I probably look a bit twatty but I don't care it is wind/water proof, and keeps me warm.

I don’t like the writing on the back of that one.

I have this exact one for watching my kid play sports in the rain! The hood is terribly short. Doesn’t stay up ! I end up with a golf umbrella up which defeats the purpose.

There’s a Facebook page called Dry Robe wankers. People post photos of other people that they see wearing dryrobes. They get mocked even more if they are also wearing Crocs. That would put me off ever buying one.

DH got a black one from tesco. He does look like a tit but it's warm and waterproof. I have worn it to take the dog out

I’ve had a dry robe for 6 years. Yes, it’s not remotely stylish but I don’t care. It’s a brilliant coat, warm, dry, covers everything and keeps me warm.

Wear it if you like it! Why not. The whole hoo-haa about them reminds me of Ugg boots - yes, they are ugly and wanky - but I have a pair because they are so bloody comfortable! I mean, have you ever tried Ugg boots on - they are like heaven for your feet.

Just dont get a colourful one, they look awful. Get a black or brown one.
