AIBU to oppose housing 1,000 undocumented young men near Piddington?

1000 replies

PiddingtonFan · 16/09/2026 09:38

We dont need anymore undocumented young males.

1000 proposed to be housed near Piddington. Young males from a different culture.

AIBU to agree with them. Enough undocumented males. Too many males overwhelming a small population. 😪

You still haven’t explained how I’m complicit because I don’t see these reports.

shecanbe · 18/09/2026 20:56

There are crimes perpetrated by migrant men, but there is no evidence that they perpetrate sexual crimes at a higher rate than any other men in the U.K Stating that is NOT minimising rape. I am a victim of child abuse and rape myself, as are many women. The very last thing zi would is minimise this. But I also know there is no type of man who is more likely to rape women. I worked with perpetrators and victims of SA for many years. Unlike some crimes that are more likely to be perpetrated by certain types of men, SA cuts across culture, class, wealth demographics. 90% of women know their abuser.

I didn't say that not reading the reports is what makes you complicit so you aren't owed any such explanation.

The crimes committed were avoidable that’s the issue. We don’t have to say oh well due to any reason. It can be the gov should act to stop those crimes happening.

Rape is disgusting everywhere. Not every country has the exact same rape rates. Sudan is catastrophic with paramilitary groups that go around doing it.

Look at the state of South Africa and how men openly admit to it and brag about it in surveys.

Where would you rather be, Manchester or Johannesburg?

Coming onto these threads to support the system that places these men into our communities. Gaslighting on behalf of rapists and murderers, downplaying and minimising their crimes. Feigning ignorance to waste the time of people who point it all out. None of this requires any explanation though, we can all see it.

In the United Kingdom, data regarding the relationship between migration and sexual offences is highly debated due to data gaps, but broad institutional research shows that foreign nationals are convicted and imprisoned at a rate roughly proportionate to their share of the overall UK population. 1, 2]
The Migration Observatory at the University of Oxford reported in August 2026that non-UK citizens accounted for 13.1% of people given cautions or convictions in 2024, and 12.1% of the prison population as of June 2025. This closely mirrors the roughly 12% to 13% share that non-citizens make up of the total adult population. 1, 2, 3]
However, looking specifically at sexual offences and sub-demographics, the picture is complex, and researchers point to several key pieces of evidence regarding whether migrant men are more likely to rape or commit sexual assaults than the general population.

  1. The Macro Picture: No Correlation to Violent Crime
Historically, broad-scale UK data does not link immigration waves to increases in violent or sexual crimes.
  • A prominent London School of Economics (LSE) study led by researchers Brian Bell, Francesco Fasani, and Stephen Machin analyzed two massive waves of UK immigration (the asylum seeker influx of the late 1990s and the post-2004 EU expansion). They found no statistical impact on violent crime. While some areas with high asylum seeker placement experienced modest rises in property crime (theft), violent and sexual crime metrics remained unaffected. 1, 2]
  • The Migration Observatory reiterates that the foreign-born share of a local UK population does not correlate with higher local violent crime rates. 1]
  1. The "Age-Profile" Distortion
Criminologists continuously emphasize that young men are the primary drivers of violent and sexual crime globally, regardless of nationality. Because asylum seekers and certain migrant cohorts coming to the UK are heavily skewed toward young males, a raw, unadjusted comparison against the general British public (which includes children, women, and the elderly) naturally makes the migrant group appear statistically more criminal. 1, 2]
  • According to the Migration Observatory, once you adjust the data to compare migrants against British citizens of the exact same age and gender profile, the overall incarceration and conviction gap shrinks or disappears completely, showing that foreign nationals are actually underrepresented relative to their demographic peers. 1, 2]
  1. The Challenge of Specific Overrepresentation
While the broad foreign-national population matches the native baseline, UK data broken down by specific country of origin does show notable statistical anomalies.
  • Fact-checking organizations and Sky News evaluated political claims regarding sexual offence charges. Depending on whether researchers used the 2021 Census or the Annual Population Survey as a denominator, certain specific cohorts—such as Afghan nationals—showed a higher statistical rate of sexual offence charges or convictions per 10,000 people compared to UK nationals. 1]
  • However, researchers from UK in a Changing Europe note that these specific spikes track much closer to socio-economic and post-arrival conditions than nationality or culture. Migrants from low-income, war-torn countries are heavily overrepresented in precarious social situations, homelessness, or institutionalized care—all variables that strongly correlate with higher crime rates among the native British population as well. 1]
  1. Data Collection Limitations
A fundamental piece of evidence is that the UK government does not officially track crime by immigration status. The Office for National Statistics (ONS)and the Ministry of Justice record data by nationality or country of birth, but not whether someone is a refugee, a student, an economic migrant, or a tourist. As a result, sweeping statistical claims linking specific categories of "migrant men" to sexual assault are mathematically impossible to verify strictly using official UK state data. 1, 2]

This is just ChatGPT obviously, but I'd rather rely on the Migration Observatory, LSE and ONS for the overall picture, than Daily Mail and GB News headlines.

Data from the Nordic nations show higher sex crime rates from men with foreign backgrounds even after controlling for age and gender (to do the like for like comparison).

But people are going to ignore this.

You are still ignoring that the crimes don’t need to happen at all. No one needs to wave them away to support a bad system.

Denmark clearly controls for the young men to young men comparison and it clearly shows elevated rates in foreign men and even second gen immigrants.

But people just ignore this

And she'll ignore all the data from Nordic nations and friends in the continent which even they control for age and gender and the rates are higher.

Do you not think that maybe just maybe rates of VAWG differ across the world and some places are safer than others?

shecanbe · 18/09/2026 21:25

I'm not ignoring anything. I have worked with victims of SA for a decade. That's not ignoring the issue. I'm exhausted with people trying to oversimply a highly complex issue to justify their political persuasions - and yes, in some cases I'm sorry to say, as an excuse to express their own instincts towards blatant racism.

My DC school used to send all pupils to Calais to work with migrants there. All my kids did this. They took clothes and other supplies, helped serve the food, actually talked to them and played with the kids. These were 16-18 year-olds pupils from the sixth form, including girls. Nobody ever reported feeling unsafe and there were no incidents of sexual harassment. Obviously, the school would my have sent them if there had been. This scheme was running for years, not sure if it still is.

I don’t really care about other countries having the same problems, nor that ridiculous 92% figure. It is meaningless. We need the land in Britain, there is not a square inch that is not used for something. We need it for food, for needed woodland and to support our very damaged ecology. Our soils are degraded and nutrient content in food is falling. We are one of the most ecologically degraded countries in the world.

So would you like to see that 92% covered in social housing? Perhaps create another Birmingham on Exmoor. Or East End London in the lake district. Lovely

I assume you’re addressing @BlossomToes, not me. Whom I note has yet to answer any of my questions.

Perhaps if a bunch of immigrants were to go to the parts of Scotland that are more up and down than side to side, and cold: or the empty wilds of Siberia (assuming Putin is as cooperative as we have been to immigrants): or those even more empty wilds of Antarctica: and built themselves a land and an economy, many would say good on em, they’ve made empty land productive. But they can’t, because it’s not about what land is truly empty. Nor will they, because they don’t want to build for themselves, they want to take what others have made, take an easy life from those who have already done the building themselves. And take women’s rights away from them too, because they come from misogynistic cultures that hate western women particularly and think they have a right to take from us.

The answer is no.
