I can't see how Feminism can make progress without intel from men. We all live in the same world after all, and while I can assume I know how men (who are not in fact a monolith) might be thinking about something or whether they would support something or how they are when there's no women around, it's much easier and faster if they can just tell us!

Only a few mins to reply just now but to answer your question I think all threats of violence are abhorrent but this thread was specifically about how social media, including mumsnet but also others, have whipped up mobs online that are now spilling over into the real world.

You mean like the trans activist mobs that threaten women's meetings? The ones who protest at FIlIA shouting vile sexual threats and abuse whilst the women inside the hall from regions in Africa are giving a talk about the appalling sexual violence they have endured? Those mobs?

Do you call out and complain about the constant threats against women made on-line and in the real world by trans activists and their alllies (of which you appear to be one)? Do you go into those on-line forums and tell them to desist?

I think the poster means the minority of people reading the thread, which is correct. All polls suggest they are in the minority everywhere else, too, except perhaps at a Young Greens meeting.

But transmen are biological women so its no surprise that they aren't misogynistic.
Transwomen who are biological men are often some of the most misogynistic men I've ever come across.

The thing is, the genderborg are so entrenched in their beliefs, and so convinced they are right, that that is the only explanation they can think of to explain people saying no. That is why they throw out slurs like far right, Nazi, bigot etc. most people will automatically try to defend themselves and get so caught up in trying to prove they are not those things that they back down. That’s why the TRA are so upset with JKR. She won’t back down.

There is a serious aspect to it, though, because the indiscriminate use of 'far right' as a slur has consequences.

For a start, this twittery exacerbates tribalism, black and white thinking, and creates silos within which people fail to learn to exercise critical thinking. It undermines the left and is damaging to social discourse.

Exactly. My ex made me promise never to come on here as it was a “cesspit of transphobia and hate”. More like he realised he couldn’t control the me or the narrative if I could see other opinions apart from his and his circle who were very TRA.
