Why hasn’t Michael Jackson been cancelled??

I’ve been out at a 80s day disco today… loads of fun. But it struck me that people were still delighted by MJ… why? He was a wrong ‘un of the very worst kind. How come he hasn’t been cancelled?!

There was a post on here not so long ago about the movie. I honestly cannot believe how deluded Jackson fans are. If you watch any of the documentaries about it I can’t see how anyone can dispute it. Plenty of others have been cancelled for a lot less.
people writing he was odd and abused as child when in other circumstances would vilify anyone else in similar circumstances. It blows my mind.
My kids now know the music and like it, sing it classes etc it’s madness to me. I liked his music a lot but don’t listen to it.
Would never pay to see The movies, stage shows etc 🫣 he is still a massive cash cow for the family who continue to disrespect the victims of his crimes.

Right, and are you accusing those under age girls of lying for money??

No, their stories are very simple and clear cut - not like ever changing vague stuff I've heard in MJ documentaries.

Michael Jackson was white? What on earth are you talking about?

he was, eventually 😂

When I have watched the Thriller video as an adult, I just find the storyline so dark. A woman being terrorised by her boyfriend, who has turned into some sort of ghoul, accompanied by a load of other monstrous ghouls. The poor female making a run for her house, getting inside, and then these creatures breaking through the windows, doors etc. Also the isolated location, late at night, surrounded by a load of vegetation, with mist swirling around. It’s the sort of thing a murderous psychopath might fantasise about doing to a woman, yet amazingly, when you read the YouTube comments, everyone is singing MJ’s praises for his great opus, no one questions the psychology behind this creation.
I just find it deeply distasteful.

Overthinking much. Have you ever watched a horror movie?

localnotail · 14/09/2026 21:25

I find comparing MJ with Saville very distasteful. There are literally thousands of people who came forward about Saville - the list of his crimes goes on an on, rapes, shagging dead people, ill people, unconscious people, abusing children of both sexes at every opportunity - the man was absolutely disguising. He was cunning and absolutely wallowed in the fact he was doing it in the full view of the public.

MJ - ok, there are some accounts of him doing weird stuff - he slept in bed with kids. His accusers said he gave alcohol to kids, watched porn with them, masturbated... None of this has been proven. Is his actions are questionable? Well, yes. Is this the same level of deprivation? No. MJ was a fucked up child himself, not a fucking perverted predator.

Did you deliberately trail off before the accusations of oral and anal sex?

A strange thing to omit.

What's your criteria for predatory vs non-predatory anal sex with young boys, btw?

He ruined peoples lives.

The amount of victims? Sure, different magnitudes. But he subjected his dozen victims to years upon years of abuse.

He was a prolific and dangerous paedophile.

Fizbosshoes · 14/09/2026 21:56

Its not just <shrug> a bit weird, its unacceptable and would ring alarm bells in any other situation.

He was an adult man in his 30s or 40s, they were well under the age of consent and not related to him. Explain how this is acceptable and non predatory behaviour.....
(Swap MJ for your next door neighbour, your kids teacher, their football coach, their scout leader, the postman....and say it was no more than "weird")

Isn't this the plot for most horror movies?? I think you're overanalyzing a bit there 😕

Jesus

So if you believe his victims he watched porn with them masturbated (there's a lot worse accusations), you read yesterday what his cleaner found, bloody undepants, alcohol guven to children.....but of course its MJ so it's just because he was messed up as a child.

And you find it DISTASTEFUL that folk talk about him in the same post as a sex abuser because he wasnt as "bad" as Saville, am I really reading that? It's actually a bit like saying oh goodness Fred West wasn't half as bad as Ted Bundy!

Again...a 30 something king of pop who has NEVER had a sexual relationship with man or woman.....has pre pubescent children in his bed...he pays huge amounts of money to make it all go away. Isn't it funny that the families are being denigrated about accepting money...but come on...he paid it out! A bit like formerly Prince who everyone knows dunnit.

Al Fayed is dead and recently accusers are coming forward, I suppose it's all about the money with then too eh? Its gobsmacking to me that because of poor Michael's persona it's not believed, or if there MIGHT have been abuse it's because he was a fucked up child so how dare Saville be mentioned?

And the comparison with Saville is valid as they both posed as weirdos in plain sight. Saville used to joke often that his case was coming up next week!

The title is should he be cancelled...no. Brcause of his musical legacy, but let's not kid ourselves on what he did as a person.

Hos cl

All these children he was "protecting". Isn't it funny the ones he was close to all looked very alike. Isn't it odd that when they aged out he replaced them with another lookalike?

From her own book the first sex he had was with Lisa Marie and that was because he wanted a child now and the grandchild of Elvis Presley would be just wonderful.

No sex in his thirties and children in his bed, yeh just a big innocent childlike creature wasn't he?

So how many is enough victims to count?

Are we to discount all abusers if they weren’t on the scale of Savile?

Ive no doubt there were far more than the ones who and the courage to come forward. MJ’s sleepovers went on over a very long period.

I’d assume if you had been sexually abused you’d want it to be taken seriously even if you were the sole victim. It’s still a crime? It’s still ruined your childhood.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 14/09/2026 23:07

I think people collectively decided he was just far too talented to be cancelled. Or at least for his music to be cancelled. So possibly it’s a “reject the artist but not the art” situation.

I think it’s as simple as that.

It could also be that he was clearly a very tragic figure into the mix, but I think the main reason is that people didn’t want to lose his music.

So how many people does it take to make someone a child abuser?

It doesn't matter, as long as you aren't "predatory" in the way you rape them, it seems.

Then I hope you never do a role which requires you to safeguard children or vulnerable adults.

I do
As does pretty much everyone now have that duty but its very different as under the laws around safeguarding you are specifically instructed to treat people as guilty until proven innocent and in this case he was put on trial and found innocent so don't tell me I have to believe someone that just read celebrity gossip over a jury

He wasn’t ’found innocent’. That is not what a not guilty verdict means, necessarily.

Some of the jury even said they thought he probably was guilty! They were swayed not to do their jobs properly because he was a massive celebrity and he acted all frail to make the jurors feel sorry for him. And it worked! Apparently they were worried about how the poor lamb would cope in jail(!)

So you don’t believe in innocent until proven guilty then.

If you’ve had any safeguarding training at all, you know he’s guilty and you’re wilfully choosing good music over children’s lives.

Dottiethelurcher · 15/09/2026 07:09

Jackson had a bit of a different MO from Saville. Saville was an opportunist whereas Jackson played more of the long game so the numbers of victims is different but they were both sexual predators. Saville was never brought to justice either.

I don’t understand how any intelligent adult can look at the evidence and not think he’s guilty.

After training you’re supposed to have learnt something. Obviously it’s possible they had training and ignored it. There have been many cases of adults in leadership positions abusing children - no lack of training just lack of morals.

i think what the jury lacked, probably all juries to be honest, was proper legal training. People still weight their ‘gut feeling’ or ‘but he’s not a bad person’ over actual evidence. Lots have been interviewed saying he probably abused kids but they felt the boys were not ‘good’ victims, wanted money (as if wanting money is morally wrong) and Jackson was vulnerable/messed up. None of which is relevant to the question ‘did he commit these crimes?’

Not to mention he will have had all the money to throw at the best defence lawyers.

I was interested on a documentary they had an interview with his attorney, who imo was arrogant and wholly unlikeable. He never at any point said he thought MJ didnt do it, or wasnt capable of such things. He said MJ called him in tears saying he was terrified of going to jail. So the attorney said they had a team go through every and any document/medical record/school documents basically anything relating to the victim to try to prove them liars (about something else) to then discredit them.

I never said MJ was definitely not an abuse as we dont know that (however, we do know he was found not guilty in court and that his accusers changed their story many times and financially benefited from MJ).

I'm just saying you cant compare him to Saville.
