Why hasn’t Michael Jackson been cancelled??

I think it’s because he was never actually found guilty of anything. Plenty of accusations but no criminal conviction

He's dead, I'm not sure how much more "cancelled" you can get to be fair.

I think because he was actually found not guilty after an extensive legal trial (he was investigated over decades apparently) so I guess it is up to individuals how they respond? With the Jordy Chandler case, it was his insurance company that paid up because he was in the middle of a tour and cancelling that would have been expensive - he actually wanted to fight the case. He was a strange character but it isn't the cut and dried situation that most people think. I don't know whether he was a paedophile or not - I certainly would not have left my children with him but musically and specifically disco music, he was hugely influential for my generation - Gen X..

Edit: Not quite so influential was Gary Glitter, I haven't heard him played since he was convicted.

So is Jimmy Saville but none of his old tv programmes are repeated anywhere. They’ve even taken Scott Mills presented Top of the Pops off IPlayer.

I thought he hadn't been convicted of anything, which means I can't be sure if he did or didn't do what he's been accused of, so I can't really demand he's cancelled. RKelly is obviously different. It's certainly possible the accusations are true, but I don't know what you would get from people cancelling Michael Jackson to make you feel better? The person playing it obviously thinks he didn't do anything, so the only thing you can really do is leave.

Exactly! It’s really weird that people are somehow more forgiving towards MJ despite all of the evidence and stories. Surely nobody is thick enough to believe that a grown man was having sleepovers with kids without anything dodgy going on? I don’t think the parents willingly allowing their kids to go helped their cases either.
Not a chance he wasn’t guilty though. He’s been cancelled in my house anyway. Not that I was ever a huge fan anyway.

I was a staunch believer that MJ was guilty. Not now, Hollywood is disgusting, they’ve taken down many before and after Michael.
I think he was a victim of the system.

I don't think the two cases are comparable.

Saville has been the subject of a conclusive, admittedly posthumous, police inquiry with hundreds of identified victims.

Jackson has, by comparison, a handful of identified alleged victims and was found not guilty in a court. There is also an argument that he is culturally far, far more important on a scale against which Saville pales into insignificance.

My personal opinion is that he's a wrong-un, but I don't think he's comparable with Saville.

There’s not much point when he’s dead. He’ll never work again.

I love some of his songs but I don't play them anymore because of the negative associations.

I know he wasn't actually found guilty but I'm surprised about how he seems to be everywhere. I hear children in my street doing impressions of him.

I think its down to money and this new film and possible future films. His estate wanted to cash in and they've done an amazing pr job. Songs all over the platforms etc. It's scary really how public opinion can be swayed so easily.

I'm glad he hasn't been cancelled. Nobody should be.

He wasn’t convicted, many people will not have seen the documentary, he was one of the most talented people to have ever been alive, plus he’s dead. That’s why.

I think the only things he was guilty of were being nieve and trusting people he shouldn't have.
He is also one of if not THE the greatest musicial artists ever.

You can seperate the art from the artist.Michael Jackson had genuine talent, whereas Gary glitter would have been a has-been by now regardless.

Added to which, MJ was A, found not guilty, and B, one of his alleged victims admitted to having lied.

It’s a disturbed society where people can just decide you’re guilty even if you’ve been proven not to be. Where does that end?

Think he’s due a comeback from all the kids who don’t know about his allegations. My 15yo was really into him until she saw the Netflix doc

Because there's a lot of thick people around who think having a bit of a boogie is more important than having a strong moral compass.

Jimmy Savile was never found guilty of anything. That doesn't mean he wasn't guilty.

He was an outstanding and seriously talented individual and you have to try to separate that from his alledged crimes.
