It's so funny how people believe this narrative about him only hanging out with boys of a certain age etc. they ignore that he had plenty of siblings and girls who also stayed. There are girls on you tube who talk about this and their stories never get printed. The press leave out that as doesn't fit the narrative.

R Kelly, J Saville and whoever else mentioned just don't compare to MJ. They would have faded away with or without their convictions.

MJ on the other hand is probably one of the most influential artists and his music is outstanding. Always a hit on the dance floor. It hasn't dated and the teens of today play his music.

He was a sad lonely person deeply affected by the abuse by his father. He was not convicted. However I wouldn't leave my DC with him but don't mind them listening to a bit of MJ.

Some people are more than their music, but for other people their music is more than them. He's the latter. Plus he's dead and therefore not profiting.
For the most part I agree in cancelling celebrities like the nonce in Lost Prophets. But I think MJ's music is just so damn good and he was found not guilty (not enough evidence). But mostly I think his music is so much part of the mainstream culture that it is hard to remove him.

I do think he's definitely not played that much on radio anymore and don't really hear him at weddings etc but still on occasion his music is played and I've never heard anyone boo it like they would others.

I hate the idea that someone can be so talented that we ignore they're probably a kiddy fiddler, but I think it really is the case. Plus he had a really difficult and brutal childhood which I think provides an explanation (not an excuse) and people are willing to accept that.

I was prolific on past threads on this subject so won't repeat myself, but seeing the same old usernames popping up to defend a child abuser because he was the king of pop is staggering.

And on the actual subject of the thread...i think the old fans don't care and the new fans don't know the actual details of what this man did.

I admit that historically we have artists and authors who were less than perfect and I actually can separate the artists work from his/her personal life.

In Jacksons case, I find because I've heard so many details and actually believe the victims (notice his fans put that word in speech marks because thsy can't even admit it) I just have the biggest repulsion when his music is played. I would never say "cancel" because it's impossible due to his worldwide historical musical legacy, but on a personal level I find the man a monster.
