Masked men at Dover - KKK vibes

MumofCandR · Yesterday 11:53

They are utter cowards and hypocritical. The same ilk will state they're against the burkha and protests by environmental groups etc. but are happy to mask their faces in 'protest' the reality is they're just nasty specimens of humanity, full of people with self righteous white supremacy tendencies. AIBU.

There are no parallels to the KKK and tbh you really do a disservice to the poor victims who suffered at the hands of them. Stop the appalling false equivalence.

Disagree fine but saying a few people protesting is like the KKK is disgusting, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Yes agree.

The sight of them made my sad heart soar.

At last, England roars.

Really? Made me ashamed. Balaclavad thugs on the streets of the UK is just awful.

But what does it actually mean though? I bet the 59% of people think a thousand different things. What could they do, how could they do it, and do we have the right kit and personnel to do it? I have no idea. Military intervention is barely more useful a phrase than stop the boats.

If we're talking about polls, we should at least look at the question and the data a little bit closer: 1) the question itself is fairly open and vague 2) if you click on PP's link, you can also look at the demographic breakdown and it's quite telling: 35% of 18-25 think the government should use the military but 65% are either 'should not' or 'don't know'; whereas among 65+ it's pretty much the reverse. There's a clear generational divide here.

But there hasn't been this outpouring of self righteous indignation about the countless times that the far left have appeared masked and Moreover ready to commit violence. Look at the YouTube clip from Bristol the other week with a right wing march and a counter protest...who is wearing masks and attacking others?

British culture is changing. Vape shops on every street. That gets one customer and hour. A town near me has 10 barber shops with 100 yards...you are telling me that these are legal enterprises...they are not run by native English speakers.

When elections are influenced by imams (Birmingham). Where children are abused Rochdale, Bradford, Oxford, Telford, Keighley, London and the authorities are scared to do anything because of the fear of being labelled racist. We need to realise that we can't continue to take people from abroad who have no idea about or respect of British culture.

In the very white town where I grew up, grooming of girls in the 1990s was extremely common. There were several children’s homes where kids were sent from London, and both boys and girls were criminally and sexually exploited by local and out of town men. Some of these men have only recently been brought to justice, two of them (and a woman) worked in one of the children’s homes and one in a special needs school. It was widespread. Everyone knew about it. And it didn’t just stop, it still happens although now there’s a lot more kids trafficked in from other parts of England, and the kids aren’t all white any more. The men mostly are, but not all. When they grooming gangs story first broke, my town was one of the places named, along with several other very white towns, mostly in the north and the south west. But once it became about Muslim men, no-one gave a shit about places like ours any more, because ‘brown men are dangerous’ was a much better story. The police even stopped investigating some of the cases we knew about and two charities that were raising the alarm lost all their child protection funding.

People who constantly bang on about the (real but small) danger of immigrants are so ignorant to the harm that does to kids in danger and being harmed right now by men born and bred here. And yet they think they’re doing something good. Makes me sick.

Freedom to protest is absolutely sacrosanct - covering faces with balaclavas is not protesting it's thuggery. Every protest in the last few years has not had that, that's a statement not based on fact. Your post has a tone of cynical whataboutery.

Tbh if I were protesting today I would also be tempted to cover my face if allowed. 37 people were arrested at the Henry Nowak protests. How many of those were by facial recognition? How many got a fair trial with a jury? How many were kept in custody with no clear date for release like Lucy Connolly was? I'm not saying they were all angels but unfortunately in this country you are not guaranteed to be treated fairly. The police are now arresting people for holding up anti-Islam placards in a revival of blasphemy laws (altho have dropped the cases now after pressure from FSU). I don't blame people for protecting themselves from police intimidation tactics.

Quite frankly the country is on the brink of civil war. There’s just too many divisions. Multiculturalism can’t work, society cannot withstand being pulled in different directions, the gap between rich and poor is unsustainable in a capitalist society, the effects of technology has left too many without meaning, people are exposed to too many conflicting ideologies too easily. There’s too many people in the country for into resources and infrastructure to support.

Rage and protest are happening across the political spectrum (at least they aren’t attacking female police offficers with hammers )

Ozp by making this a left/right thing you are part of the problem but probably can’t see it because you’ve bought the lie about being part of the “virtuous left”

Oh don’t be so utterly ridiculous.

We will see how that pans out under Burnham now two tier has gone.

It's likely there will be arrests off the back of yesterday, and particularly any professionals with an agreed code of conduct should be listening for the doorbell.
Somebody upthread mentioned a doctor, lawyer etc (I think it's now been deleted) that she knows were on the march. Rest assured their participation has probably been noted, if it was true. Road blocking in particular has precedents set. Some people will be losing their careers.

Yes because permitted protests always executed lawfully aren't they?

If illegal things happen during lawful protests then people can be and are.

An unlawful protest is still unlawful. Lots of people are not supportive of the laws that mean protests have to be approved, maybe you’re one of them. It’s a fair position, the Tories under BJ we’re particularly keen to restrict it.

Indeed. And I wonder what the educational divide is too.

I wonder how many of those who say that the military should intervene could provide workable detail about that intervention. If they are mainly 65+ I would bet good money that they still think our Navy is like it was during WWII.

Not civil war, that requires organisation, there is no one person/ organisation orchestrating action. That would need a charismatic individual to come to the fore and actually lead. These type of protests are social media driven without a real lead, purpose or defined required outcome.

People can't seemnto grasp the obvious.

These men are doing this because therenis nothing else for them to do!! How the hell are people to get their voices heard.

For decades people have voted to 'stop the boats'
Now we are seeing constant headlines of assaults, murders, rapes, stalkings.

No actually, we aren't, not really. Because its being surpressed.

The BBC narrative is that these men are dangerous animals. The reality is they are normal men who are fucking scared of the way the country, that their children have to grow up in, is heading.

And they have voted. They have signed petitions. They have filled in surveys. Talked to MPs

Non of it makes any difference because for some unknown reason our government are hell bent on allowing illegal migrants into our country at an alarming rate from countries that they tell British women not to travel to!!

All the are trying to do is make a point. Have a voice. Bring attention to the fact that we do not want this! Mass immigration of unskilled men from misogynistic countries is unwanted!!

And yes they wore masks. Probably because the lefties would be scrolling through the photos doxxing them and calling their bosses and mothers otherwise!

ZERO arrests. ZERO.

Yet its intimidating and suspicious.

600 arrests at Nottting Hill Carnival. Countless knives seized. Sexual assaults. And that is deemed successful?!

Make it make sense?!

I find the Pro Palestine rallys intimidating and offensive!! Do all those people deserve to be arrested for covering their faces. Chanting and marching??

If so, we have completely lost the right to protest.

And if you ban face coverings for security, does that include the Burka? Because I have seen a video of a MAN in a park who was found getting changed into a burka in the bushes.

If ballys are a risk so are burquas.

I'm so fucking sick of the double standards are hypocrisy.

Ballys at protests bad - kaffirs at protest, OK.
Flying St George - bad, Flying a Palestine flag, OK.
White men gathering in large groups- bad! Muslim men gathering in large groups, OK.

And that is why people are taking steps that appear more drastic, because nobody is fucking listening!

PinguMoll · Yesterday 17:56

Ffs, seriously??

This place is a joke.

One can only hope so.... They certainly should suffer the consequences of their behavior. Though I suspect kid gloves may be used here, given the level of tension around, incited by the far right.

Most of those arrested were already known to the police for domestic violence https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026/jul/24/most-people-arrested-during-henry-nowak-protests-had-been-reported-for-domestic-abuse

It’s not clear how many had a jury trial, as not clear whether all were charged with indictable offences (i.e. charges that would entitle them to one). But from the article it sounds like some were open and shut cases:

Dillon Crawford, 29, was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment after throwing a brown bin and a metal chair “with some force” at police officers during the disturbances. He has 19 previous convictions, including for domestic abuse offences. During one incident, he broke a partner’s front teeth, punching her unconscious, and, after she woke up, told her he had put bleach in her hair.

Andrew Summerhayes, 38, was seen throwing a wheelie bin at police during the disorder. He was sentenced to three years and two months for violent disorder and possession of an offensive weapon.

If you’re concerned about treatment in magistrates courts (where there are no jury trials) you can sign up as a volunteer to watch cases and monitor fair treatment https://www.transformjustice.org.uk/focus-areas/courtwatch/

Most people arrested during Henry Nowak protests had been reported for domestic abuse

Exclusive: Hampshire police data reveals 22 of 37 detained had been accused or convicted of intimate partner violence

And equating a group of English people to the ss is perfectly reasonable?

Typical lefty. Miriam margolyes makes racist comments on live TV and it's fine. Someone is worried about the culture of the UK changing is weird

Edited

Let me know where I said that was reasonable, or where I said anything in support of Miriam Margolyes?
